I have been getting calls all week from 206.451.5071 from Officer Robert Brown who could barely speak English from the Financial Crimes Investigation. He said he needed to read me an affidavit and not to interrupt him as we were being recorded. He said I owed $650, but if I paid today, I could pay $500 but if I went to court I would have to pay $3, 575. I was freaking out because in am in the middle of filing bankruptcy so I was not sure if this was a real debt or not. I started researching 1) no debt collector can call more than once a day. Therefore, when I went off and told them to quit calling more than once a day they did. 2) I told them that I wanted to dispute the claim and they said that I could not "wrong". I have the right to receive the debt and dispute it within thirty day. 3) The "Officer" told me to fax him a notarized letter with my debit card information authorizing payment for the amount. PEOPLE DO NOT DO THIS. I REPEAT, if you have a legitimate debt pay with a money order. I called them and left a message with my attorney's phone number. Good luck to us all as the world is getting more and more scandalous every day.
