Stay away
Poor choice of mine to make Christmas purchases for my husband with Fingerhut using the pre-auth'd credit limit they gave to me. I was making my payments as required. Only a couple months later I received a notification from Fingerhut stating that I was getting a credit increase. Fabulous, I thought, because it would improve my credit rating -- or so I thought! Turns out, the additional $200 credit increase is something I'm having to pay off, even though it's not a purchase?!?!?! Does it make ANY SENSE that I am required to PAY UP to my new credit limit? From what I can tell from my statements, I have paid off my purchases, and yet Fingerhut wants me to continue making payments on an increased credit limit amount that I did not request! I have since closed my account; I am DONE with Fingerhut!!

Robbing me
On the bill due in April $391.76 was the ballance, $28.99 was due on
4-11-11 and $30.00 was sent on 4-2-11 on check 2015.
Then they did send a bill due in May. The bill did say, I does say,
I do owe $548.11 and I did not order anything in April and May.
I did exchange an RC Skunk, so they are making me pay for the exchanged
RC Skunk. I did talk to the ST. Cloud Police, since I do have the feeling,
I am being robbed. I AM MAD!!!

Overpricing
I checked out the guitars that Fingerhut sells. If you notice, they never include the model number. A program I have installed on my computers to help me find better prices for items that I am interested in purchasing, found the same guitars at several other retailers. What a shock. The guitars were researched using the found model numbers and were of beginner/amateur quality. This is no big deal, what is the big deal were the prices. Every web site that sold these guitars were pricing them at between 30 and 70 percent of the price that Fingerhut was charging. I don't mind overpricing, that is part of the game in today's retail market. What is the scam is that they will not provide model numbers to allow the customer to comparison shop. I even emailed them asking for the model numbers, no surprise when there wasn't a response.
So fellow shoppers, beware, they want to trick you into the "advertised quality of the product" and then overcharge you for the low quality item that they actually sell you.

Harassment
I have an account with them and I was recently laid off. I am fully aware they are allowed to call on an open debt, as this was the job that I was laid off from. Today alone they have called 5 times with me calling once to speak to a supervisor. 3 of the calls came after I already spoke to someone about this issue. This is harassment plain and simple. You are not allowed to call someone back in the same day after speaking with them unless they give you permission to do so. My job was outsourced overseas, I am fully aware of the extent to which call centers operate overseas. Our IT department was in India. Every representative that I have spoken to has had an accent, none of sound like they are from Minnesota, as I was told all of their reps are in the US. Fingerhut's parent company is BlueStem Brands and they in fact do have call centers all of the world. This is misrepresentation on their part. In my previous position we were told that if a customer flat out asked us where we were calling from or what company we worked for we had to tell them, full disclosure. It is illegal to misrepresent your company in any way. They are not to be trusted and if this situation continues I will be contacting BlueStem's president John Darrow. On top of already high prices and insanely high interest rates, they are guilty of harassment.

customer service/shipping
On April 9, 2011 I ordered an 18" grill that I have not been able to find elsewhere from Fingerhut. I did this online, and applied for and received a credit limit of $700. The total cost was approimately $70, including shipping...so it was not a high priced item. This is my first order from them, having received MANY catalogs. The order processing went fine, but all went to hell after that. The confirmation on 4-9-11 claimed they would ship between 1 and 5 days. By the way, there was a "free" gift involved, which they shipped on 4-11-11, and I received on 4-14-11 via USPS. Prior to the actual grill shipment, I sent Customer Service emails asking who the carrier would be. They have NEVER returned any of my emails!! I received a shipping notice on 4-13-11 saying "Your order is being shipped", along with a tracking number...but without a carrier name. On that notice it also said that " shipping within 10 shipping days". Not knowing for sure whether it actually shipped, I called them and found out that it shipped via "Speedy". They also said it could take up to 30 days for the shipment to arrive, which REALLY irritated me. I eventually found out that "Speedy" operates out of Canada, could not get any tracking on it, so I called them back. They (Fingerhut) claims the shipment is in transit, but could not give me an estimated delivery date. Via email, I asked to cancel my order, but have not heard from that either. Anyway, my order is supposedly on it's way, so I am forced to sit and wait. Have not ever heard of "Speedy" delivery service in the USA. I am an elderly gentleman, and only am able to get out for grocery shopping, doctor appts and general small shopping trips. For the past 3 years all of my main shopping for all holidays, birthdays, etc. has been online through some great companies. Have experienced shipments via USPS, UPS and FedEx, all with excellent tracking. This is the first and last time that I will order anything through Fingerhut. For the hell of it, I returned their "free" item at a cost ($6.65), which I absorbed. The "free" gift was a cheap "throw" of very poor quality, which I would not have in my apartment. Maybe they will give it to a charitable organization, which is what I should have done.

Credit Scam
Credit scam
I called to sign up for the RESTART CREDIT program. They informed me, and I asked several times to verify, that my new line of credit through this program was $170.00. I then placed an order for a 139.99 item, the total after taxes and shipping came to $185.49. They told me my payment would be $81.52, which included the required $30.00 downpayment plus taxes and shipping. They then informed me that the item was over my credit limit.
Funny, if you do the math, it is way under the credit limit.
$185.49
- $ 81.52
__________
$103.97
Now they tell my the total cannot be over the $170.00 no matter how much I put as a down payment, because of the program. That is illegal and disceptive. I asked again ...what is my line of credit? they told me $170.00. This falls under the Usery Laws as a Fraud. They insist on this line and say it is not. My Line of credit is not $170.00 with Fingerhut because when the balance in well under, it is still not accepted.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE RESTART CREDIT PROGRAM!

I have been incorrecedly charged for $142
My balance was 57 dollars now with all that you have tacked on it is $206. My payment should not be late since I spoke with a gentleman and agreed to have $10 taken out of my account every month. I really don' have another fifty words to write excep that this is messing up my credit and I really do not appreciate that. Please find out where this charge came from and remove it from my account. Also as I arrange with the gentlemen please take 10 dollara from my account each month so that i am marked late

This Company offered me a Pre-Approved Credit Line and when I placed an order they did not ship
This has to be the sorriest Company out there in its dealings. I was sent a pre approved credit amount and placed an order by mail. They have not sent my order that was a fourth of my credit approval amount. The website has to be the worst of all. I type in my account number given to me on there catalog and the catalog number . The website said they did not have a record of me. What a Crummy Company! I do not know how they continue in business. The order I placed was for NH 381 an Ab Glider. It was advertised at $16.99 per month with a rubber mat for an extra $3.00 per month.

Have not posted payments and charged interest
I paid off my Fingerhut credit card at the beginning of the month through my bank's bill pay. I have the confirmation number and proof that it was debited from my account.
6 days later, Fingerhut still had not posted the payoff to my account and charged me interest on the unpaid balance.
When I provided the proof to Fingerhut, they stated a glitch in some system and would post correctly in 24-48 hours.
48 hours later, when it should have been fixed..surprise, it wasn't. The person I spoke with stated that I should wait 24-48 hours before following up.
I am trying to buy a house, that I am supposed to close on tomorrow, not happening because of their mistake. I need a letter stating it is paid off, but they will not provide it until the glitch is taken care of regardless that they have the proof it has been paid.
