First Premier Bank Reviews

Awful bank
I'm in the process of rebuilding my credit score, and I applied for a credit card with First Premier Bank. I was on Free Credit Report.com checking out my credit score last weekend, and decided it was imperative to own a cc again. After navigating the site for awhile, I noticed an ad for First Premier Bank. I assumed that if Free Credit Report allowed them to advertise, they must be legit.

After applying, I decided to google First Premier, and that's how I found complaintsboard. Needless to say, if I knew about this site beforehand, I would have known better than to apply, and would have looked elsewhere.

After reading the first few pages of reports on here about First Premier, I'm now terrified. I applied for this card solely to rebuild credit from mistakes I made when I was younger. I only wish to buy gas with it a couple times a month, pay my bill on time, and build credit. It doesn't even sound like this is possible to do after reading some of the reports. I've read about people paying well in advance of their due dates only to get late fees on their next months statements.

I don't care about the initial fee's upon activation, or the monthly fees associated with this type of card. I know thats the nature of these types of cards, and part of the game of rebuilding credit.

Does anyone have anything positive to say about First Premier? What are my options from here? I have not yet even received the card, so do I have the choice to not activate it upon arrival? I read a report on here of someone doing that, but it still showed up negatively on their credit report.

Money isn't an issue really, as I really only need the card for credit building purposes. Do I send large payments before I even get my bill to create a surplus and ensure no late payment fees?

If I am able to get out of First Premier, how or where do I go about finding a reputable credit building card?

Terrible experience
I have had a First Premier Mastercard for 2 years with a $300 limit. Each month I have paid the full balance due to avoid fees. This week I paid them $320.67 through my bank's internet banking service, d rawing the funds directly from my account and sending via ACH (Automated Clearing House) which guarantees payments between financial institutions.

When I checked my balance by phone after the payment cleared my bank account I had a 0$ balance due but 'No Available Credit At This Time'. When I spoke with a Customer Service Rep they told me they can hold payments up to 20 days before releasing my credit line. I asked why they did this since my payment history is perfect with them. He told me they could not guarantee the funds were there!! I asked for a Supervisor and when he took my call he said the same thing with an additional catch, they could not verify the funds were received.

I asked how they could credit my payment and not yet be able to see they had the funds? He said they use a third party and the third party only released payments to them once they received 'a bunch of payments because this saves time and is less expensive to First Premier'. I told him he was full of it and asked for his manager.

When the young lady gets on the phone (she would only give me her first name as they have a policy against employees using their last name) She asked me if she could help. I asked her if she had been briefed by the 'Supervisor' I just spoke to and she said yes. I then asked her his name and she stuttered (imagine that!!) and gave me an incorrect name. I asked her what had he told her and she stumbled through it. Short end to the long story is this, she said they hold the monies that are paid up to 20 days to guarantee payment because they do not know when payments are cleared by the issuing bank. I told her you would know if I had not paid because I have received calls claiming late payments in the past when the due date on my statement was 6 days away.

I told her they were violating banking laws and that I would cut up my card and close the account. I asked her to close my account and she refused, saying I was a valued customer!!

Cut up their cards if you have them, send them back, and make copies of the cut card and the letter you send. I hope there is a class action suit in the making here and they are ordered to pay everyone back for the monies they have ripped off and the management team gets prosecuted!!!

Do not use First Premier. Finally, my credit union rep where I do my banking asked me a few days ago why I had their card and I told her I had been rebuilding my credit. She told me with a decent rating (which I have) they could extend me a VISA with a $300 limit. Go to your banks and ask their in branch reps to work with you on getting a low limit card from them.

First Premier should be brought to justice for their practices!!!

Scam and stealing
Beware!! I received this card and was charged with $179 in fees, before I had the card!! Oh my limit was for $250. Don't buy into their 'we report to the 4 credit bureaus and help repair your credit!! You can repair your own credit without being extorted!!

Scam charges
This company initially charged $200.00 to start card up after calling to cancel unwanted card. Rep talked me into keeping card open to build credit easily. I am a single mom and I was looking for a way to establish good credit history. I decided to keep card. The first payment came due, no purchases had been made on this card. I was only planning to pay off the amount First Premier charged me to start card. I paid way in advance, well over the amount due by at least 10 days before due date, received confirmation number. 10 days later received phone call that my payment was not received & that I had been charge almost $80.00 late fee. Explained to Rep that I had confirmation number and that I had paid in advance before due date. Rep told me that the system probably didn't catch my debit card number and she would waive up to $30 of late fees and the $11 charge to pay by phone. I agreed thinking that maybe she was right about the system not catching my debit card number or me possibly making a miss punch when putting in my card info over the automatic pay by phone system. I don't think looking back that I made a mistake otherwise I would have not received a confirmation number if info was incorrect. I finally did make a purchase on the card at Bath & Body for about $40.00 then dinner at a local restaurant for $26.00. I had available credit of almost $90.00. When I received my next bill I received over limit charges, cash advance charges ***Never did a cash advance*** I called immediately, the rep I spoke to was extremely rude. I told them I want to cancel and close this card. The rep refused to close card, then finally said she would cancel card. After a week I received a letter stating that I now owe First Premier over $400. My total purchases on card were below $68.00. They are reporting me as negative because I refuse to pay the ridiculous over limit fees and late charges they have assessed since that fatal mistake I made of making a payment on time before the due date & letting the Rep talk me into keeping a card I did not want so that it would help me build credit. I pay my bills on time. I finally researched this company and have found several people with the same 'System didn't catch debit card payment' for the first time they tried to make an on time payment. Please include me in any class action law suit so that I can get this company from hurting me any further. I am not looking for money... I just want my hard work to build good credit as a single mom struggling to reflect.

Scam billing
I have no idea how they got my information, but First Premier Bank has made TWO unauthorized checking account withdrawals from my Chase checking account. I am currently out of the country, and when I checked my account on www.chase.com, I noticed that my checking account had been debited $230 on October 29, 2008 and $164 on November 2, 2008. Both debits were made by First Premier Bank. I called the Chase Fraud Department right away and they said that they would have to issue another debit card because from the looks of it, the debits were made over the internet. Also, I have to wait 10 days to fill out paperwork and get my money returned in my account. The only problem is that I do not have any idea as to how this company got my information. I am very secretive with my account information; my closest family members do not even have access to my accounts. This bank is making fraudulent charges and something needs to be done about it. I tried to contact First Premier Bank, but it's automated system does not have an option to speak to a representative, and you can only get through if you have an account with them. I plan on hiring a lawyer and going after this bank. From what I have read, I am not the first person that this has happened to.

Fraud and scam
Do not get a Premier bank Credit Card. They started my credit limit at 350.00, but the want 175.00 1st year enrollment fee and activation fee. If that were not enough, they want to charge me 7.00 a month for the credit card. They are insane and I am insane for getting the card.

They will not issue a credit for the amount of money they charged for the 2 months that I had this card in my wallet. I called them to cancel my card and prorated the 2 months that I had the card and they said that they can not do that and that I have to pay for the card anyway

Do not get this card!!!

A total rip off
I've been trying to get a decent credit card to help with moving expenses (seeing as how since I moved here I’ve had nothing but a hard time and is why I’m moving back ...again...). Because of these issues I’ve had my credit isn’t so good. SO. I figured I’d try this bank seeing as how they're the only company who would approve me (to what I thought had no annual fee).

I was so wrong. All I got was a $250 credit limit, my first bill is already here. I have a $95 program fee, a $29 account set-up fee, a $7 monthly servicing fee, and already the $48 annual fee! Now my available credit is $71.

Do NOT under any circumstances do business or set up anything with this company!!!

Next time I open a credit card account I’m going to do some better research and not settle for crap.

Penalty for paying early
We've had problems with this company since day one. the latest problem and the last straw is this: we paid twice in July, on the 16th for due date 7/19/08 and on the 24th for the next due date, 8/19/08. Or so we thought.

We started receiving calls that we were late and going to collections. When we told them we paid twice in July they said "oh it's your fault then for paying so early" and refused to remove late fees showing for August!

If someone starts class action suit, count me in!
