So I had a second mortgage with First Tennessee, which from the inception of the loan was put on automatic payments. I was informed by mail the the servicing of my loan was being transferred to CCO Mortgage, which is a common industry practice. Well, upon transferring the loan First Tennessee really screwed up. Because I had not received a bill from the new mortgage company, I called in to pay by phone. Well, that is when I found out that First Tennessee had transferred the loan as unpaid since December 2008!
So I get transferred to the CCO Mortgage "Collections Department" and spend 30 minutes trying to explain to them that is was completely false. They said they could do nothing about it because this is how the received it. So I call First Tennessee.
It has been 3 weeks with no resolution from these people, and the worst part is I am trying to refinance my primary mortgage. Problem is, these idiots reported me late to all the credit bureaus! So now my score went from 760 to 615!
Every time I call First Tennessee they say they will get back to me in 48-72 hours, which never happens. One person said I may need to send them my bank records showing that I paid. I said that was fine, but an invoice for my time and supplies would accompany the records, because this is their fault, not mine.
As it turns out, CCO Mortgage had owned the loan the entire time, and was simply farming out the servicing to First Tennessee. They saw that they were dropping the ball on a lot of things and decided to terminate their services, apparently not soon enough.
First Tennessee also once tried to force me to pay for flood insurance, claiming my house was in a flood plain, which was patently false. I had to spend my time talking with FEMA and my insurance carrier to prove them wrong.
