membership fees
I have been a member of Fitness 19 for a while. I really enjoy the gym. But when I asked about signing up my wife and kid, I expected some kind of break on enrollment fees...but there was none. They want me to pay enrollment fees on both my wife and kid...I don't feel I should have to to that. It would cost over $350.00 to sign up my family.
I am retired military and it cost me nothing to work out on base. There should be some kind of substantial military discount to entice military members to join.

Any way...I may have to terminate my membership so I can workout with my family

Cash Customers /Lack of area to work out
I am a cash paying customer. I have wanted to pay my dues for the whole year up front. I was told by the "bookkeeper" that they don't like to do that. So I started out with a 3 month membership, than again I wanted to renew with cash and again was given attitude about paying up front with cash. I am paying customer one way or another and do not wish to give out my account information to the gym. They want to run the bill each month from a credit card/ your checking account; however their is no security against identity theft. They leave their office door open with all the files in it all the time. It is doubtful that run a background check on the employees (which seem to change frequently). If you do not buy into their Personal Trainer gimmick and wish to be left alone to work out, you find the staff staring at you as if you are not wanted there. The suite they have rented is way to small for the number of members. The personal trainers take over any room left over so you have no where to stretch out properly before your work out. Members end up outside in front of the building warming up. I did like going to the gym, but Fitness 19 Staff could loose the attitude. It is doubtful I will renew.

PS They should clean the boogers off the changing room walls GROSS!

Lying to customers
The business tactics of this company are based on deciet and cheating the customers. They are only obessessed with increasing their client base population. When I first signed up for a membership, an obscene total was calculated. I asked the ower to reference a friend who was a member and had obtained membership at a much lower price. Shamefully, the owner adjusted the price to the MUCH LOWER price, nearly 100 less. The owner also talked about re-newing the membership and quoted me a price which was reasonable for the entire year. However, when time came, the money I had to pay just to renew was 50% more than what he had quoted me. When I called to speak to the owner, no could find them for over two weeks. Finally, after calling numerous times, I called and spoke to them and they denied ever quoting the price for the year's renewal. The owner said that they would write the informaiton down on the contract, however, when I reviewed it, the quoted lower price was never documented. It is a shame to see what this company is amounting to. Becareful and RESEARCH your facts and prices BEFORE even approaching this company.

Employment
Employment seekers beware!!!
Let me paint you the beautiful picture(s) that my husband and I were as "managers/owners" from our so called "friend" Owner of Fitness 19. For one, this company claims you are an "owner". .no money down but you get to OWN your own gym... NOT SO. you take a percentage of the net profit of the gym after the PYRIMID people are paid (which are the other "owners" who got in before you). Regardless of your age and experience in the industry, you are NOT allowed to buy into this company at all. I was never given any information about the OWNER of the Corporation. All I was ever told was his first name. There is no way to contact him about anything, as an employee or as a member.
In all reality. . you are a slave working 80 or more hours a week and not guaranteed your so called "split" which is 30% of the NET profit after your "higher up" is paid HIS 20% and even higher up is pd HIS 17%. And, it is the MALE that is pd the split... not the woman. You are guaranteed nothing, even after working your rear off. I was sick w/a kidney infection and forced to work more hours than are humane to anybody (let alone someone who is pregnant). They tell you you are owners and then you have not ONE say in any of the decision making processes of your so-called club.
Our pre-sales started with NO signs & our advertising was over a week late, so that affected our paycheck and it is up to those upper "owners' to get it all rolling for you.
After working your 11 hour day, you get to go HOME and do more work (where they force you to keep the computer system so you can enter all the new memberships and daily business as well as projections).
My husband and I were led to believe and told "we'd be taken care of and not have to worry" . Instead, we were pd. less than we were as managers and did not even get our "split" and we were made to blame for how poor sales were even though we had no control over the advertising or signage (or lack thereof). We were actually told "for the next 90 days, God and family DO NOT matter". All that matters is getting the membership sales to ____ & the personal training sales to _____. The club has not even started construction and they are trying to make us lie to people on the "open date". We are a christian family and I think it is only fair to give others a small piece of a warning before someone else is a victim of working over 280 hrs in a mo. and now not able to afford to have a Christmas.

Bad service
I signed up for a new gym membership with Fitness 19 on June 7, 2008. I was told that my initial membership costs would include a one-time activation fee of $49 and the first and last month's dues at $17 per month, bringing the total to $83. All dues thereafter would be $17 per month. My contract stated that I would be charged on the 15th of each month. However, when my first credit card bill arrived, I was charged $100 (The $83 initial costs plus the next month's dues of $17). After analyzing the situation, I determined that my dues for the first "month" were actually for only 8 days, not a whole month. Basically what happened is they charged me $83 on June 7, $49 for my activation fee and $17 per month for what they told me was my first and last month's dues when in reality the first month was only 8 days from June 7-14. Then I was charged another $17 on June 15 for the next month, bringing the total on my credit card bill to $100. I am disappointed that they misled me like that. They should have been honest with me and claimed that the first "month" would only be 8 days or until the 15th of the month, or they should have charged for the next month's dues 30 days after June 7 when I signed up. Charging me on the 15th of each month doesn't make sense because if that's how they do it, then all new members should sign up on the 16th of each month to get the full month for the dues they pay and wouldn't it make more sense to charge on 30 days increments from the date each new member signs up? It is fairest to the customer that way. That is my main complaint.

Circuit training
People are always cutting in at the circuit training area. This happens all the time. If you want to sign up for a membership here, talk to the manager ahead of time about this and see what they will do, because it is a real problem.

Buyer beware: Refuse to refund
I am new to the Rochester area and have had a membership at Fitness 19 for about 6 weeks. I am taking classes at the local university and found out my tution covers the university's recreation center. I went into Fitness 19 and spoke with Erhan Guler. He was ready to allow me to cancel my membership until he found out I had paid in full. He refused to refund any portion of the money I had paid although the contract I had signed made no mention of rules for those paying in full. When I asked for someone in charge (like the owner) he would not tell me who that was. Buyer beware. This is not over I will file a complaint with the State of Michigan
