Overcharging and providing false information
I signed a contract with the Urban Active. When I signed for the membership, their representative told me that I could come there and JUST cancel it if needed. After cancellation, I still would have one month free if I want to attend. When I came to cancel my membership, they told me that I could not and that I was supposed to send a certified letter to their main office. I mailed a certified letter and received a response by e-mail (after a month) that they are not going to cancel my membership and will continue to bill me until I paid them $44.95. As much as I am concerned, I owed them nothing and matter of fact, I have a strong desire to file a complaint against their agency with the General Attorney's office for misleading and giving me false information. It seems when I wanted membership, they promised me anything they could just to get me there, but when I wanted to cancel it, I had to face more than enough problems. I have sent them a cancellation letter and from the day of my letter, they can not hold me liable for their unwillingness to cancel my membership. My letter was a notification to them that I had no desire to maintain a professional relationship with the agency, therefore, I could not be charged from the date of my letter was mailed and forward against my will. I was looking for the e-mail address to reply their e-mail and there is none, there are no contact information, no person in charge. Something has to be done about it.

Unprofessional Fitness companies
Too many issues with this company. Aside from fraud and unprofessionalism the clubs are overpriced. Members are trainers and instructors. On long island they have the worse staff, all that have "records" from the past. Originally, the clubs had the best in mgmnt, and few changes occured, until about 1 year ago they "cleaned house" of the best staff. Now the "dregs" of the fitness world with tattoos, fat/short "dyke" quality that scream at people & have no idea about safety are in mgmnt & teaching The company sends emails, surveys etc., yet they don't understand why people are not "enticed" to join...obviously, lack of research/knowledge of their market. Mgr./regional in Woobury that has the worst reputation & fired from every health club, & this company "promotes" her?? Save your money & seek more "professional" clubs that require certifications and did their research of their employees...

Overcharging
If I have to discontinue with them I need to inform 20 days before and I can't do it at there service center. I need to mail a letter to there main office in CA and even after doing this they are charging for a month.
Why it is like that when I joined I join at there service center not in the main office in CA and why do I need to inform 20 days before. Why it takes too long to discontinue membership.

Scam billing!
I am an 78 year old woman and I have never ordered their magazine, they keep sending me bills and this time they get familiar and start with, JOAN, YOUR ACCOUNT IN NOW OVERDUE. PLEASE SEND PAYMENT TODAY. I think they are trying to pull a scam on older people who just might send them a check.
