membership agreement
Fitness USA is dishonest and manipulative. I joined for the tanning special that they have and not for the gym fitness center membership in spring of 2008. I told them that I would probably be leaving the area the next year and go back home to santa cruz, ca. I asked if i would still be able to cancel my contract and they insisted that it was very easy to do so. All I had to do was tell them and give them my reasoning and address. WELL I am STILL making monthly payments of 14 dollars and I have not used those awful tanning beds in over a year. The closest fitness USA to Santa Cruz is the one I signed up at at the stonestown mall in san francisco, and that is now an hour and 15 minutes away from me. This corporation is a complete scam. Some of my friends were also suckered into a membership that they could not get out of like they had promised. I am furious and these people need to be stopped. Please help.

Fraudulent charges
This Fitness USA advertises 'Never More Than $19.00 a Month'. Pay as you go, no contracts, blah blah blah. I went once, the 'Trainer' was negligent, overly physical, rude, and would not listen when I hit my physical limit. After attempting to cancel my 'Month to Month' contract, I was told to fill out a form asking why.

After filling out the form and sending it in, 3 weeks later, they took money from my bank account for a months membership. The other thing. The $19.00 program is 3 days a week for men, and 4 for days a week for women. To work out on your own schedule, you have to pay more, for a good trainer, pay a few bucks more. everything is more, more, more.

Cheating good customers
We signed a 36 month contract and are paying 48.00 a month. A new person can walk in and get the same thing for 19.99 a month. We called to simply try to get them to lower our monthly payment and work with us and they are unwilling to do anything to help us. They are also the least friendly people I know. You would think that they would be willing to help a long term customer (1 12) years. We also payed 600.00 toward a personal trainer but they do not take that into account either. I am extremely disappointed in the service ( lack of) that we received. If this is how they treat their customers then they will be facing more of the terrible economy problems then anyone else. I will be sure and tell everybody I know to steer clear of them and I will let them know that the YMCA is much cheaper with the same options.

Unauthorized charges
Fitness usa told me that i can pay $19 a month as i go if i don't go i don't pay. I did not give them authorization to take money out to my account they did it anyway. So i did a stop payment on my checking account and they change the amounts and debt more money out my account. They lie about every thing.

Awful company
This Company is nothing but lies with horrible and unprofessional customer service team of four people. However I signed up for a membership right away before I could finish using my free trial because the employee Don told me that the membership I was signing up for was a special deal and that was the last day for it, So me thinking I'm getting a deal hurry and signed up and a week later I brought a friend and come to find out those were the same prices I was told was off.

However my friend didn't have a credit card to sign up for a cheaper price. Marco(employee) suggested that he use my card and my friend told him No Ill just sign up when I get my card. I was still called in the office on my friend behalf even though he told them not to. However I agreed to let him use my card and after that I signed a credit card slip and then he handed me a membership form signing it was just something I had to sign.

My friend signed a membership form also. Marco requested 87.00 up-front as to why I don't know because I didn't have to pay anything. My friend didn't have it and said he would come back at another time. So Marco told me he would rip up the paper work and throw it out and he had my friend hold on to his membership form.

A couple days later I find out I have a second membership in my name and that I was charged again. Marco never threw out the paper work instead he gave himself credit. When I contacted him he said he didn't know how that happened and that he would call corporate to have it taken care of and he would call me right back.

He never called back so I called customer service to request my refund for the second membership that was put in my name, a Lady said she would check on it and call me right back the next day, However she never called and its been two weeks still nothing. I called Marco to find out why he never checked on it like he said and he stated that ' Oh its already in the computer I was gonna see if ya boy could just come use that membership'.

I call customer service and she ignores my complaint and say well you only have 3 days to cancel and I told her that membership shouldn't be there because I have one already. She said well you have to fax your request and we will REVIEW it. Not refund it right away.

I rather pay a higher cost at a different Fitness Center then go through what I have with FITNESS USA... Also don't bother leaving customer service a message when there four lines are busy because they never return calls let alone check messages.
