I took my Jeep Cherokee to Fletcher's Tire and Auto on 90th street in Scottsdale on for several issues including a check engine light and a "shaky" front end at higher driving speeds. I dont recall the gentleman that I spoke with that day but he contacted me after apparently looking at my vehicle and gave me a laundry list of repairs that were needed. He stated "you are looking at about $2000". I was not ready to invest $2000 into an almost 9 year old vehicle and decided to get a second opinion. Too my surprise the second estimate totalled just over $300. The Flethcher's mechanic who felt that the front end "shake" would require several hundred dollars in new shocks/struts was corrected with a simple tire balancing and rotation. The check engine light was corrected with changing spark plugs. The brake pads were changed and rotors shaved with costs that were no where near what was estimated by Fletcher's. Again, the total repairs cost me just over $300 as opposed to the $2000 estimated by Fletchers...something does not seem right about this vast discrepancy in estimates. I was also charged $94.81 for "labor" just for taking a look at my vehicle.
Dishonesty in the auto repair industry needs to stop!! Luckily, I decided to get a second opinion before spending $2000 on unnecessary repairs.
