I WAS RECENTLY LET GO FROM THE fLORAL PARK mOTOR lODGE. I WAS HIRED FROM THEM AND WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REPLACING A FELLOW WORKER WHO WAS MOVING BACK TO HIS COUNTRY. I HAD BEE TRAINING FOR ONE MONTH. One day I had come in to the hotel and was supposed to start my shift that evening. I was asked a question by my front office manager Miriam. She asked me a specific question about a customer who I helped the night before. Apparently I made a mistake in the computer system. She asked me two to three times if i remembered that person I helped and I told her that I did not recall that person. At that point i felt she did not believe me and she made a specific remark which I was offended by. At that point I started to raise my voice a little because I was offended by her remark and i felt she was talking disrespectfully to me. I never cursed at her nor did I talk disrespectful to her. After this incident that night i continued to work. Miriam then went home. She called me the following evening telling me on the telephone that I would be no longer working there because she felt we would be bumping heads. I was never called in to the hotel to talk with her and the general manager. I do not feel i was treated fairly and I was also told that I was making mistakes, when a few nights before this incident took place I was told i was doing a good job. I was hurt by this incident. If I spoke to thew manager in an inappropriate manner than i am sorry but I did so because i felt I was being disrespected. respect is very important to me and I treat other with respect. I was hired part time. I also work for the Us Postal service in which I have over eighteen years of dedicated service. I would hope that this matter would be looked into and that it doesn't happen to someone else. I really did intend on working at the hotel. I felt I should have at least been talked to professionally and treated with respect. This was not the case. I would have also hoped that the general manager would have spoked to me individually but that did not happen also. I am truly sorry that this incident took place but at the same time we all should be teated with respect at all times. If Miriam, the front office manager felt I disrespected her it was because I felt she was talking down to me which should not take place if we are all supposed to be working together. I do realize that I was new and that she had given me a chance and i am grateful for that. I only hoped that this matter could have been handled more professionally. I do realize that i make my own mistakes also and I will learn by them.
