i have numerous complaints regarding Monument Toyota however i will only list the latest complaint. i took a Hilux 3.0 D.4D in for a 200 000km service. i only took it to this service center because i had to, i was limited on time so i could not take it elsewhere. Ok where to begin, the vehicle had a whining noise that sounded like an old bearing. upon collecting the vehicle they got authorization and replaced the water pump, why i have no idea. the pump did not leak and was not noisy and i say this with confidence because the original factory filled coolant was stil in the system, another worry because this coolant should have been replaced every two years. i drove the vehicle away and noticed the whining noise was now even louder. i did not have the time to return to the service center to query this but when i stopped that evening i checked the filters and found that the air filter element was the old one and that they never replaced the filter element and when i called the center they responded to me and i quote " they only replace the elements when they think it is necessary" now i know for a fact they do not have the required vacuum system to test the filter's airflow to determine if the filter requires replacement. the next day i was on my way back from a client a couple of hundred km away the charge light was on then off and before i stopped at home the light was now on all the time. early the next morning i sourced the company that does the electrical work for Toyota and they replaced the alternator due to failure, when i drove away from this center the vehicle was quiet, no more whining noise. now in my opinion if the center had any qualified artisans then surely they must have heard the whining noise when they took the vehicle for the so called road test after the service.

i can not find a complaints department at Toyota South Africa and i have complained before where someone from Monument Toyota called me and to date he never called me as he said he would. the prices for parts at this specific center is almost double on some items compared to other centers.
