These people are a joke and I am now stuck paying a debt to them every month on top of loans that were taken out when I was going there. I attended the brandon-online college from March 2006 till they dropped me out of the school in January 2008. Little did I know that I was put on student probation and was dropped out for not appealing my probation. A letter was never sent via snail mail or e-mail so I had no knowledge that anything was wrong until I tried to get into class and I was no longer found in the system. The adviser told me it was my fault and did not want to help me figure out what the real problem was. The problem that I have though was I had good grades and they dropped me for no reason. My "student adviser" was not responsive to helping me out. She never returned any of my phone calls, my letters were never answered and I had no explanation of why they dropped me.I was told that what my financial aid did not cover that my student loans would. Not expecting the loans to be taken out in small amounts resulting in 3000 dollars times 10. I had paid these people out of pocket when first starting because I was a dependent for being under 24. Then more loans were taken out. After dropping me, the school did nothing to return my phone calls, help me get back into class, even give me a break down of my information. Six months later I have a letter in my mail box from sallie may stating that I have to start paying back my 30, 000 dollars seeing that I am no longer in school. Now I have all this money in my name, nothing to show for it, so I decided to enroll in Valencia. I should have done this first but my job had a crazy schedule so FMU sounded more appealing. Come to find out that VCC would not take a single credit from FMU and that I had to start from the very beginning again at VCC. When I called FMU to find out about getting my transcripts I was told that I have a balance of 1700.00 dollars and they won't release them until I paid it. After bouncing around on the phone from one jerk off to the next I finally hung up and decided that I was really mad. After getting my VCC stuff started at an accredited college, the debt collectors of FMU started calling and harassing me about the 1700.00 bucks. They were threatening to sue me and throw this on my credit and that I have to pay. I argued with this guy for a few months telling him to suck it because he was extremely rude and horrible customer service. Finally after contacting the Dept. Of Education in FL, I was told that FMU did nothing wrong and that I should not be refunded my money for the loans because I was given a valuable, reliable, good education from this school and that the Dept. was provided with all the proper documentation that the school did nothing wrong and that it was all my fault. I appealed this to the Dept. only to be brushed off into the other 1800 complaints. I also contact the BBB, and FMU lied their way through that stating that I was a bad student and that it was all my fault. I contacted my local media and of course they didn't want to pick up the story. The attorney general office didn't even e-mail me back which I thought was a joke.
So after fighting with this school over a year and a half, I have had no response to any of the lawsuits that were supposedly in process, I can't prove that I am right and the school is responsible for bad practices and committing fraud, my lawyer said through all the paper work that was submitted and signed that there was a small clause in the bottom of the page that I signed during sign up saying I pretty much screwed myself and there is nothing I can do. I now have to pay these jerks money every month so it does not go on my credit. They harass me every month for my payment to give over the phone but I send it via snail mail check so that I have proof and a receipt that it was paid. They lost the last check... so I had to pay over the phone.
These people are a scam. There is so much that happened that I can not even write it all down. I advise anyone trying to sign up with any place associated with Corinthian Colleges, INC. to not even give them your number! They will rip you off, rack massive amounts of debt, then do nothing to explain or help you understand why. Horrible place and of course they lied about transfer of credits... I found out the hard way when my adviser who signed me up said oh yes they transfer, then she was just dust in the wind.
I will win this battle eventually, Just when is someone going to investigate these scam artist.
