unauthorized charge

I suddenly discovered that I was being charged $14.95 per month by Foneright on my AT&T bill in December 2010. I had never heard of this outfit and had no idea what the charge was for. When I called them they said that I okayed the charge by my computer but I had no rfecollection of that and still did not know what the charge was for. I askec them to cancel it and they said they did immediately. But then I was charged the same amount for January. I called again and they said they cancelled again. AT&T would give me no satisfaction but only said that they could not refund the money.

billed my account withouth authorization

I opened my ATT phone bill and found a charge for $14.95 from Foneright billed through ILD Teleservices. I have never heard of either of these companies. I have no idea how they or when they think that they transaction was authorized. Here are the steps I took to receive relief from this:

1. I called ILD at 800-433-4518 on 7-25-2009. They informed me that there was nothing they could do as the charges originated from Foneright. They offered me an 800 number but said that the company was only open M-F. Foneright 888-568-6369.
2. I called ATT; they told me that they would remove the charges from both June and July (I didn't even know that I had been charged in June). The customer service rep also offered to block all collect calls; however, she said that they were not able to block 3rd party billing.
3. I went ahead and called Foneright them even though it was Saturday. They were open and I spoke to Jameila (?). I told her that the charges were fraudulent and I wanted them removed. She canceled my account immediately and offered me a confirmation number.

My next step is to contact my attorney general's office. I hope that the phone numbers provided will help others in their future quest for relief from these illegal billing companies.
