I am posting my experience with Fortress Security as it will benefit everyone who reads this post.
Fortress Security recently began handling their own accounting and it has been my experience that they did not transfer the records correctly. I had numerous issues from the wrong contact people listed to the wrong address for mailing communciations about my service...none of this made it to the new system. I wanted to cancel my service but they advised I was on contract until Oct of 09 so I decided to ride it out...bad idea.
During the many calls in I was always advised to call back when my contract ends and I could be assisted with canceling the contract. I was told this by multiple customer service reps numerous times, so that is what I did. Once I did call back in it appears that Fortress Security starting handling their own accounts. I was educated on this matter by a rep named Deborah D. who stated that I needed to write in to cance. I advised of being told to call but Deborah insisted I was not told that. Also, she had no records of the prior issues...none of the calls! On that same call with Deborah she acknowledged, addressed, and correct another address problem. Still she stated that no one at Fortress Security told me to call back in. After standing my ground she advised of the prior company that was working on Fortress Security's behalf and she stated all the notes had been pulled over. None of the issues I called about made it to the new system according to Deborah.
As time goes on I called to cancel, emailed, faxed, and physically mailed to letters...but no cancel. Well, I decided to just not renew the credit card that expired in Dec 09. This was a bad idea and what Fortress Security did is illegal!! Fortress Security attempted to bill the card and it was declined due to expiration date, which merchants can see why the card is declined. So for the next few months Fortress Security continued to change the date on the card until is processed!! Visa verified this as the security company for Visa called me about it. Visa and my credit union dropped the ball because they were told not to process any payments by them. Once Fortess Security got the correct date they quickly billed about four months service. Once I noticed this I immediately changed the card number. Fortres still will not close my service even after being 90 days past due. Instead they were changing the date on the credit card looking for success...which they eventually found.
Now the account still has not be closed, but the credit card number has been changed. Since contacting them does not work I will let the account go into collection as my only other option. Now dealing with a rep by the name of Jerrod S. just proves the lack of service as he stated they will work with me on the payment. That is laughable being that my service should have been canceled Oct 09, but they will work with me on the payments for the last 2-3 months.
Please be advised that companies like Fortress Security will manipulate payment info to acquire payments. I do not recommend Fortress Security at all. Look to another company to provide your alarm monitoring service as Fortress Security is not a good company and has illegal practices in place.
