Poor Claims Service
I was rear ended by someone who had Founders. My first complaint against them is that they do not do business with any of the established repair centers. The choices for getting an estimate are inconveniently located "noname" shops. Not wanting to deal with any of these places, I elected to file the claim with my insurance company and have them go after Founders for the deductible. I got the estimate at one of the established chain auto repair places that my insurance uses. My insurer was, of course, unable to get the full deductible from Founders. People, please get your insurance with a responsible company.

fraudulent claims process
My car was struck by a person insured by Founders Insurance. A claim was opened and I was told to go to a repair shop authorized by the company. This repair shop did not seem reputable. I tried to tell them about the damage I was concerned about but the shop seemed intent on making excessive repairs. Without ever interviewing the driver, Founders said that they were denying my claim. After 4 weeks, I finally had a manager get involved in the process. They have provided no proof of investigation. They only left a message on my voicemail stating that their client did not hit my car, but if they did hit my car, it must have been due to my making an illegal turn. Clearly, this company is engaged in fraudulent practices. Iam forwarding my complaint to Attorney General's office for investigation.

CLAIM NEGLECT
To whom this may concern:
My name is Jhelisa Thompkins and I am writing this letter of compliant because my car has been totaled. My calls to Founders Insurance Company have been continually ignored and my child and I have no vehicle for daily transportation. This forces me to bring it to question the business pratices of this company and I wonder how they manage to stay in business with such questionable procedures. I have been without my car for two months now and I have yet to speak with a real person nor have my several messages been returned. I feel as if I am being ignored and I am seeking counsel as to how I can recieve satisfaction in this matter. What kind of place is this that totally ignores its claims as well as its claimants. The pratices of Founders are deceitful, manipulative, frustrating, and unfair. They are people with out conscience, I am not a vindictive person but I wish they could experience what they are forcing me to go through. They are pushing me to anger and I will not be ignored. Can you say LAWSUIT/ DAMAGES, PAIN & SUFFERING. I had to miss a week of work I was so upset I told my boss. I was surprised when he told me he had the same problems with the same company, when the church van was hit. He told me it took him 90 days before he got a response. Since he is a Pastor and they did this to him and the church there is no telling how long they'll make me wait. My last recourse will be to file legal action against Founders. My court day has come and gone, and the case was thrown out the insured hit my car and is finanically responsible, she is to replace my CAR.

90 DAYS unable to to talk with a real person. Only voice mails who don't return calls
On April 5, 2009, our church van was hit by a man who is insured by Founders. Initially I spoke with a Juliette Romero. That was on May 29th. Since then I have been unable to contact anyone except a voice mail. I'm positive that no one is interested in returning our calls. We were sent to a repair shop, pictures were taken, and nothing has transpired since then. I even called the repair shop to inquire about our claim. We were not surprised to discover that no action had taken place on there side either. How do companies who exercise these types of practices stay in business. To date we have submitted 56 calls to Founders without response. The frustration is mind boggling. To recall a phrase from my days with DOD " Companies such as these should be dealt with with EXTREME PREJUDICE. Total annihilation is suggested but as a Christian I will leave the situation in the hand of the Father. After all it's his van.

Accident Claim#0308002853
I was injured as a result of an auto accident in which your insured was at fault. I was eastbound on Touhy in the right lane, when Alina Kowalski suddenly pulled out of Nagle, where there is a stop sign for traffic on Nagle, into traffic on Touhy, and struck the passenger side of my car. On file should be a copy of the Founders Report of Accident and claim, which further describes the accident.
When your insured hit my car, I was thrown against the inside of the driver's door. There is a small indention in the door panel where my elbow hit the door. I had pain in my neck, lower back pain, and pain in my left shoulder as a result. I had a contusion on my knee cap, an abrasion on my left elbow and an abrasion on my left shoulder. I had to stay off work for three days due to the pain. It was painful to kneel for at least a week, and the pain in my lower back continued for about two weeks. The neck pain and muscle strain continued for several days. I went to my doctor's office, Western Springs Family Center, that day, and was prescribed pain medication, which I took. And was told not to go to work for the next two days, as well as that day.
I have submitted the breakdown of all the medical bills, medications, car rental agreement and lost wages as a result of the collision, which totaled $884.35. I believe $2000 for the pain and suffering I experienced is reasonable.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB case#94209669 and on 1/7/09 they received a response from Lauren Mc Farland claim manager. Her response was they are awaiting proof of lost wages from my employer. I told her that the lost wages form was faxed to them on 8-21-08.
On 1/27/09 I spoke to Lauren Mc Farland about my claim, she had indicated that a check was sent to the body shop for the rental re-imbursement. What I cant understand is why? I don't live their. She called them to find out if they still had it, they didn't, so she cancelled the check and re-issued a new one to me which I received a month ago. I also signed a release form for my medical records on the date of the accident 7-2-08.
I have repeatedly left messages with the claim manager and rep. I don't understand why its so hard to call with a follow-up call or update on the claim. I want to settle this claim, I fell this organization has been dragging their heels to pay out compensation.

Not settling a claim in a satisfactory time frame!
I was in an accident december 3 i live in a busy street and backed out and got hit. This was during the day . The company refused a rental car. There adjuster wanted to put on junkyard parts on 2003 jetta they said it was the law. After further investigating it was not the truth. I continued to drive eventually the car became uncontrollable. The car in fact was unsafe, but I was forced to drive the vehicle. On a snowy morning I was leaving work and hit a pole head on--due to the uncontrollable car-steering was gone.--had i left the parking lot and that not happened then I work on a busy a road the accident could have been fatal. This accident could have happened at anytime to anyone with my family in the car or someone else's family in the car. This company has not yet settled now 3 months now since the first accident. I am still making car payments now 4 payments and counting. No vehicle now, I signed over to them. Just wondering when they will pay off the accident. So I can get a new vehicle and move on with my life, and a new insurance company.

Unethical, deceitful business practices!
I had the pleasure of someone hitting my daughter's car who was insured by Founders Insurance. The insured person that hit my daughter's car received 3 tickets, one of which was a DUI. My husband and I arrived at the accident to find this driver very drunk, alone in her car (I'm going somewhere with that one), and completely irate about hitting my daughter's car. We contacted this absolutely wonderful company to put in a claim. Everything was great at first, they immediately sent me to get an estimate. They requested that we fill out a Report of Accident and Claim form as well as send them a copy of the police report and tickets that their insured received. With all that documentation, especially the one that stated their insured driver was arrested for DUI that night, they still denied the claim (after 3 months of them investigating). On what basis you ask? Oh, it's elementary my dear, their insured driver said she wasn't the driver that night, it was her invisible sister. Now, they tell me that I was denied, seriously folks, because their insured driver is not cooperative. Next time, I'll just purchase tickets to see the clowns at Barnum and Bailey!

Highly questionable business practices
Founders Insurance Co.
1645 Birchwood Ave.
P.O. Box 5100
Des Plaines, IL 60018
(847) 768-0040
On the evening of Friday, September 9, 2007 in a parking lot in Elgin, IL., a vehicle insured by the above insurance company struck our parked van and fled the scene. Including myself, there are two eye witnesses to the accident. The license plate of the offending vehicle was recorded and immediately reported to the police. Within minutes, the Elgin, IL Police Dept. tracked the plate down to a nearby residence where they discovered the vehicle parked in the owners' driveway. Upon further investigation by the police, they talked to the passenger of the offending vehicle who was at that residence and he admitted to being in the vehicle at the time the driver backed into our car and drove away. However, he claimed he only knew the drivers name as "Jesus" and that he had left minutes before. The police also discovered that the registered owner has a suspended drivers license. Neither myself nor the other eye witness could identify who was driving the vehicle that struck ours.
We reported the incident to Christina Kane at the above insurance agency when they opened on Monday 9/12/2007 and filed a claim to repair the damages caused by their insured clients' vehicle. The above insurance agency had requested copies of the police report and a letter stating the events of the accident. This alone is odd because any insurance agency can obtain police reports of their insured themselves. Later, they had also sent us a Founders Insurance form to fill out that resembled a police report. Some of the information they requested was our Social Security number, our insurance policy number, our coverage type, our deductable and where we worked. Needless to say, we did not give them that information as they have absolutely no relevant need for it. We have taken our vehicle to the body shop that Founders Insurance Co. suggested for an estimate. The recommended body shop seemed shady and had a large calendar with scantly clad women hanging in plain sight of the customers. I will say that my wife was uncomfortable with the establishment.
It has been over three months and in excess of 10 phone calls have been placed to Founders Insurance Co. checking on the status of the claim. When they actually returned our calls, each response has been that "they are still investigating it and can not reach the owner". To this date, absolutely nothing had been done to pay for the damages caused by their clients' vehicle. We have also filed a complaint with the BBB, The Illinois Division of Insurance and Professional Regulations, and the Des Plaines, IL. Chamber of Commerce.
It is in our opinion that Founders Insurance Co. is clearly avoiding paying a claim in their hopes that we would have our highly reputable insurance company take care of it. Regardless of who was driving the vehicle, the fact of the matter is that the vehicle that Founders Insurance Company insured, struck our parked vehicle in plain view of two separate witnesses and fled the scene. This form of business practice is fraudulent as far as I am concerned and should be eradicated from the insurance business.
