Free Trial Scam
After seeing the countless comercials and having a good reason to find out what my credit score is, I accepted the free trial offer on the FreeCreditScore.com website. It says you have 30 days to try out the site and you will receive your scores from all three credit reporting agencies free. I just wanted those of you out there considering this site to hear what happened to me. Like I said, I submitted my information to accept the free trial. Of course the first thing they ask for is your credit card information. After giving up my information, I never received my score. I went back in to the site, clicking on all the appropriate buttons only to have it tell me that there was a problem with my account and they could not release that information at this time. So, after a month of following their instructions and trying to get the score, I called the appropriate number to cancel my trial membership around 9:00am ET on the 30th day of the trial. I got a recording telling me that my membership had been cancelled. The following checking account statement I see where they took the $19.95 out of my account even though I cancelled the membership within the 30 days. I, again, called the appropriate customer service number and waited to talk to a human. She told me that my membership had indeed been cancelled, however not within the trial limits of working days. She tried adding something about the time of day on the last day that I called was not sufficient, but I didn't hang on to listen to the rest. So, the site got my $19.95 and I got absolutely nothing. Beware the time of day you call these places!!
