Unauthorized Charges without submitting application
Checking out a free credit report offer. Website lead you through giving your information and credit card number, then tells you after your trial membership the program costs $24.95/mo. I backed out all my information and did not clck on the submit button.
Priavacy Matters 123 has an automatic credit card number collection software. Even tho. I erased my information they collected my credit card number. I was charged for 4 months at $24.95 before I realized it was an unauthorized charge. My bank did a conference call with me to Privacy Matters 123.
I first had to cancel my membership, before being able to talk with customer representative. I was first told they could only cancel my membership. I explained I had not submitted an application. We were connected to a supervisior. I was told the charges were from a free website trial offer and they would only cancel my membership. I explained their software must have erased data collection software, as I saw the price of their free offer and backed out my information and did not hit the submit button. At this point the supervisior apologized and agreed to refund all the monthly fees in 3-5 days a total of $124.75. I got my membership number, membership cancellation number and fee refund number. This was last night waiting for the refund.
Lesson learned if the free offer, does not give all the details before you have to put your information and credit card number in, close the page its a scam! Read your bank statement carefully and be sure you know exactly who is drawing money out of your account.
