membership without permission
I went to this website for a "free" credit report, I wonder why I thought I could get a "free" credit report at FREEcreditreport.com lol Anyways to see the actual credit score I had to enter my credit card info and pay a small fee. when I completed this transaction apparently a the fine print stated that if I did not call and cancel I would be automatically signed up for membership witha monthly fee of $14.95, which I didnt notice for several months. It seems that if there is any other charge for what you originally are signing up for that there should be a fail safe check-box, not sneaky little fine print. Are there any laws regulating this? I called them today and was canceled and refunded only one month dues.

false advertising
free credit report is a rip off company that fooled both my girlfriend and myself out of 29.95 for a free credit report that actually was supposed to cost $1.00. WE were upset called the company to complain and thats as far as it went. Terrible people terrible company that leaves a bad taste in my mouth forever.

Fraud
DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES AND FRAUD: www.FreeCreditReport.com, associated with or owned by Experian credit reporting agency. Use https://www.annualcreditreport.com instead for the reasons below: FreeCreditReport.com, which advertises broadly on the cable channels, does not give you anything free. They use deception and trick you into giving them your credit card number for identity verification and then automatically signing you up for buying their (questionable) services at about $17.00 per month. It is very hard to get the credit card companies to reverse the charges because Experian has them by the balls. How do you think they pay for all of that sickening, ridiculous and nauseous advertising? These liars, cheats and thieves are tracking, judging and reporting your credit history.

They charged me $79.95 for my free credit report
I don’t know about you but I am mad. I was deceived by FreeCreditReport.com’s glitzy ads and the use of the word free everywhere. After watching one of their commercials I clearly had the understanding that I was going to be receiving a free credit report with no strings attached.

So I ordered the supposedly free credit report from FreeCreditReport.com. They asked me for my credit card number but told me it was just to verify who I was and is a safety precaution so that an identity thief could not obtain my credit report. So I didn’t think twice about it and gave them my credit card number.

A little while later I noticed the bills for $79.95 on my credit card statement. It was for the annual service from freecreditreport.com. In other words, this was truly not a free credit report. They bill you $79.95 for a year’s service and then they call it some credit watching program if you call them to inquire about it.

I looked this up and it is completely against the law. On the FTC website it says that this is not legal to do. If you’re going to be signing people up for a yearly billing scheme then you need to be clear about this in your advertising and you need to state the purpose and the costs.

FreeCreditReport did none of this. Not only that, but they were even dishonest when I called to inquire about it. Then they tried to tell me that I knew about it and that they told me all about it. That is a complete lie. If I had known that this supposedly free credit report was not to be free and was in the cost is $79.95 per year to be enrolled in a worthless credit watching program then I definitely would not have signed up for it.

FreeCreditReport.com should be made to lose their website as it is false. There is no free credit report here. They automatically sign you up for their yearly BS billing cycle and its all about profits and deceiving the consumer. This is why they use singers and glitzy ads so that simmers don’t see the truth and become deceived and fall prey to their $79.95 yearly marketing ploy.

Stay far away from FreeCreditReport.com. There is no free ride or free credit report or free anything you will get from them. It’s all just deceptive advertising and marketing! And just try and get them to stop billing you and to remove you from their billing cycle. It is frustrating and takes forever. I wish I had never ever contacted FreeCreditReport.com!

$29.95 charge (not-free)
I registered with website to get my credit report, which was listed for $1.00 if memebership was canceled within 7 days. I canceled my membership, but noticed that I was still carged $29.95. When I called, they told me that the $1.00 was only for viewing one report, but when you go through the process, you are guided directly to the three report and have to unclick it if you don't want to be charged. I further complained how shady this was and the customer service rep talked with supervisor and told me she could get $15.00 of charge removed as a courtesy. I complained further and asked to speak to that supervisor and she took off the charge.

DON'T visit this website. They are shady and try to charge you. They are hoping you don't see the charge.

SHADY SHADY SHADY!!!

Misleading and deceitful billing
On the 20th of March, 2011, I signed up for a trial of their services understanding that I would be charged one dollar and that I would be charged $14.95 if I did not cancel the trial within 9 days. I complied with these and viewed my credit report. The next day my bank account was charged $29.95. My husband and I both checked our credit reports separately as you cannot view more than one in a single report and we were both charged $29.95. I called their customer service department and was informed that the free report is only for the Experian report, not the tri-report. YET THEIR LINK AUTOMATICALLY TAKES YOU TO THE THREE-BUREAU REPORT!! This is deceitful, misleading, and wrong. After being informed that the free report is only for Experian they hung up on me without refunding me my money. You better believe I will call back and will keep calling until I get at least of the charges reversed!

Free???
Okay, this is totally false advertising. If they say "free credit report" it should be free, not luring you in to pay for everything. And on top of all of that, you don't get your credit report unless you pay for it during the trial period! You only get a score, so how do you even know that's right? I'll never trust anything again that says "free" because it is never free, always a catch and/or fee. I hate companies that hide behind false advertising. What ever happened to "truth in advertising?" Oh, yeah, it never existed.

unauthorized charges
They seem like they would be so helpful in their commercials and cute jingle, but they're really scam artists! They claim you can look at your credit score for free and not be obligated to sign up, then a month later I was charged with a 14.95 monthly membership fee. Not only do you have to call in to cancel, but they keep you on the phone for hours asking very personal questions that have nothing to do with canceling a membership. I will never use this website again and I can only hope that someone reads this before they use it as well.
