Scam charges!
Free Credit Report.com kept charging my credit card when I called three times to cancel. I finally had to cancel my credit card to get the charges stopped. Just think if they do this to 100, 000 people or 1, 000, 000 - a very lucrative business.

Unauthorized billing!
I was interested in getting a 'free credit report' and decided to use freecreditreport.com. Unfortunately, i didn't read the small print in which it says 'unless you call this toll free number and unsubscribe within the first 30 days of checking your credit report, you will be charged $14.95.' so, when i was charged the FIRST time ($14.95) i went back to the site, saw the fine print, read it and kicked myself for making such a stupid mistake. I then, called the toll free number provided and spoke to a woman that i could barely understand (it was literally hindering our communication) for about 20 minutes. I told her that i wanted to cancel my account and that i no longer wanted to be charged for their services. She proceeded to look my account up while i was on the phone with her and informed me that my credit report had been 'updated' and she suggested that i get online and check the recent changes before i ended my subscription. I firmly told her no, and that i didn't care what was updated, that i would no longer be needing their services and to unsubscribe me. I made it clear that any further charges to my account would be unauthorized by me.

Yet, here i am one month later and my account has been charged $14.95 AGAIN. Should i just call them again? should i call my bank? This 'company' is ripping people of left and right! I know that i should have read the small print and i am willing to take responsibility for the first charge to my account, but after going through the hassle of calling them and still being charged is really ridiculous!

Charged for services not ordered which you cannot cancel!
You get you free report then you try to cancel and you cannot find a number or way to do it. They charge you every month ($12.95). You go to the website and you cannot log in, they say they cannot find your account. Finally, their phone number showed up on my statement and tried to call only to get a busy signal for days on end.(someone else trying to cancel services they did not order I'm sure). Then there is no answer. After 2 months I finally get through and then get disconnected, call back and get busy signal. I finally got through today and their excuse for not refunding my money for the last 4 months of charges was that I did not call in the 30 day to cancel. If they had more people there to answer the phones I might have gotten through. This is highway robbery. Someone needs to take these people to court in a class action suit to get everyones money back.

Unauthorized bank withdrawal!
I'm the type of person who checks my account on a regular basis, meaning up to five times a day even. Tonight, I decided to check it since I have pending payments and wanted to verify if they were processed, and come to find out that I have been charged an amount of $29.95 with the description of 'Withdrawal @ ATMVBAS2 AP9*PRIVACYMATTERS12-V 877-993-6264 CT' and a subsequent amount of $1.00 following that charge with the same description. I have never even gone onto this site or even heard of it in my life.

The last thing I did do that was credit or credit report related on the internet was when I went online to get a free credit report. Now I don't remember if I ended up going through the freecreditreport.com website, but I'm pretty sure I didn't.

After reading this article on msnbc http://redtape.msnbc.com/2006/09/dont_fall_for_f.html I realize that how easily it could be mistaken between the 'free...' website and annualcreditreport.com. I'm almost positive I did the credit report through the the 'annual...' website. This is very confusing.

In a time where money is tight for me since I am a college student, with a new used car loan to pay for, work part time, have bills to pay, this is the last thing I need to deal with right now. I almost don't even want to call the company after hearing the horror stories everyone else who was scammed who tried to call to cancel. Instead, I want to jump right ahead, close my checking account and get a new debit/visa card (since it is tied to my checking account) so I never have to deal with this fraudulent company. Though, my fear is that they will haunt me no matter what. Right now, my concern is them making more charges when I have pending payments that need to be processed and the possibility of my account being over drafted. This is ridiculous that I have to deal with this especially when I literally live paycheck to paycheck, penny to penny.

I just want to say that my trust of internet purchasing/banking/etc (anywhere you have to type in a cc #) has been broken. I would have liked to have never have dealt with this, I almost wish I had never been interested in looking at my credit (though I did actually get a report which makes me wonder how I got charged if I did it through the 'annual...' website) but I had to know cus I was in the process of applying for car loans. I'm going to have to deal with all this in the morning, calling this 'privacy matters' website, my bank, and even annualcreditreport.com.

Unathourized Billing
Have been getting billed $12.00 per month by this company. Have tried to cancel the service several times. When I finally got someone on the phone they tried repeatedly to talk me out of cancelling the service. When I finally cut the person off mid sales pitch and told them to cancel my account I was put on hold. Then someone came on the phone and said my current membership was paid until the next month and I would still have access to the service until then. I sensed something was not what it appeared to be so I asked if I would have to call again on the date the service runs out to cancel. They tried to go into another sales pitch so I interrupted and demanded an answer to my question. I was told yes I would have to call back. I told them nice try but I want my membership cancelled right now, and if they were so concerned about me missing out on the current months service which they already billed me for they could feel free to credit the money back to my account. The line went dead I assume I was hung up on. I will be watching carefully to see if they try to bill me again. Next step is I will just close my account at the bank and re-open under a new account number.

Unauthorized monthly credit card charge
About three months ago, I saw an ad on TV for a free credit report. I went to web site, filled in information they requested, never received a credit report. Last month I noticed a charge on my credit card statement for $12.95 from CIC Triple Advantage. I thought it was something my wife had charged. Today, our credit card bill arrived, and there was another charge for this month.
I do not understand what the monthly charge is for, I haven't received a credit report, nor used their services.

Unauthorized charges
Scam started out simply by offering free credit reports. Then for the past 6 months I've been charged $12.95/month by CIC triple advantage. Finally found out it was freecreditreport.com after I googled "CIC triple advantage" and was directed to this site. Finally canceled my subscription thanks to the info from here.

Unauthorized charges to credit card
In May 2007, I went to the Experian website to request a free credit report. Annually, each American is entitled to 3 free credit reports from the three main credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax , and TransUnion. Apparently what happen through the request exchange is that Freecreditreport.com interceded somehow and captured my credit card information. The web page that requested the credit card information was cleverly manipulated into the free credit report request process. As I recall, the request for my credit card information was described as further due diggilence to ascertain my identity. Shortly thereafter, I received my credit card statement that showed a $12.95 charge. After calling the credit card company and being referred back to freecreditreport.com to manage the dispute, I have learned more about how this scam works. By the way, the 12.95 CIC Triple Advantage charge is not a one time charge but rather an ongoing membership that auto bills your credit card number.

Things to do:

1. Call Freecreditreport.com and cancel your membership and request a credit be issued to the card company. Make sure the credit covers current and future billings.

2. Request a membership cancellation number from Freecreditreport.com.

3. Contact the 'Disputes Resolution' department with your card issuer and insure that your dispute is noted in your file. Write a letter too and reference the membership cancellation.

4. Request that your card issuer refuses any further charges from Freecreditreport.com to your account.

5. Continue to monitor your statements for fraudulent charges.

6. Write a letter addressed to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion notifying them of the use of their website by Freecreditreport.com.

7. Reference the Complaints Board in all communications with the card issuer and Freecreditreport.com

I have requested free credit reports from the major bureaus in the past and have never encountered this type of negative, ethical behavior.
