Cancellation
Per the terms and conditions given on freecreditreports.com, I am cancelling my account and expect to see no charges in the future on the charge account given. This looks like a scam attempt to me me as I see no account cancellation site location on this site. With this being the directed site location based on the terms and conditions outlined on the freecreditreport.com site, I can only wonder what action you will take. Please advise through e-mail as this site has my e-mail. I will notify my credit card company not to accept any charges from this service and contact the appropriate authorities. Todays date is 07/21/2009, the same day that I signed up. Therefore, I am well within the 7 day cancellation period. I can be notified of cancellation through e-mail at [email protected].

Fraudulant Charges
TOTAL SCAM!!! This company charged my credit card (unauthorized) three times in three days. They had the nerve to obtain my checking account number and charged me another $14.95. That is four charges in less than seven days. I cannot get through to anyone via phone and have had to cancel my credit card and establish a new savings account. THEY ARE TOTALLY BOGUS!!!

DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES AND FRAUD: www.FreeCreditReport.com
DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES AND FRAUD: www.FreeCreditReport.com, associated with or owned by Experian credit reporting agency. Use https://www.annualcreditreport.com instead for the reasons below:

FreeCreditReport.com, which advertises broadly on the cable channels, does not give you anything free. They use deception and trick you into giving them your credit card number for identity verification and then automatically signing you up for buying their (questionable) services at about $17.00 per month. It is very hard to get the credit card companies to reverse the charges because Experian has them by the balls. How do you think they pay for all of that sickening, ridiculous and nauseous advertising? These liars, cheats and thieves are tracking, judging and reporting your credit history.

The only place you can get the Congress-mandated free annual credit report is from https://www.annualcreditreport.com .

deceptive marketing
Don't get fooled by that jingle on TV. Well, I can only say I'm a sucker for it. When you sign up for the so-called free credit report on their web site, they will start to bill you after that if you did not realize the fine print. I think lots of people have fallen to this ploy and they have been sued by the FTC before. Read it here at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2005/08/consumerinfo.shtm. In there it says :

It deceptively marketed “free credit reports” by not adequately disclosing that consumers automatically would be signed up for a credit report monitoring service and charged $79.95 if they didn’t cancel within 30 days, in violation of federal law.

According to the FTC’s complaint, Consumerinfo’s advertising and Web sites failed to explain adequately that after the free trial period for the credit monitoring service expired, consumers automatically would be charged a $79.95 annual membership, unless they notified the defendant within 30 days to cancel the service. Consumerinfo billed the credit cards that it had told consumers were “required only to establish your account, ” and, in some cases, automatically renewed memberships by re-billing consumers without notice. The FTC charged that the defendant’s failure to adequately disclose the automatic billing and to get consumers’ consent to bill their accounts violated federal law.

If you're like me, send a complaint to FTC here at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/. Or get in touch with your state attorney general or the state banking commission if your credit card company refuses to dispute these unauthorized charges. If you need a credit report, get it here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt156.shtm. Also organizations like the BBB nowadays is not a good source of trust nowadays as it makes money from subscriptions from companies and there is a potential conflict of interest and they have no authority to deal with situations like these unlike the FTC.

Unautorized Charges to Credit Card
Freecreditreport.com is nothing but a scam. They advertise a free credit report. but that is os not the issue with this company. they made an unauthorized charge to my credit card for credit reports that i have never even seen. When i called to get a refund they told me i had to fax a letter to the ther Customer Relations. What company makes you fax a letter for a refund. When i asked to Talk with someone to get a refund i found out there is not such person available ( how convient). THe supervisor i talked with was rude and very inconsistant with his answere and kept condradicting himself. Please be very careful with this company. They are nothing but a SCAM

Commercials
I am so sick of the FreeCreditReport.com commercials. Not only is that idiot singer and his band bad enough to make you want to put your fist through the TV, but we have to be assaulted by the message that your entire life revolves around your credit and if you don't use their services, you will end up being a pathetic loser like the actor portrays. Insulting!
On top of that, I guess the company loves to rub salt in the wound by running these ads endlessly on every channel. I counted 20, count 'em, 20 times those ads ran on only one channel in one day.
All I wanted to do was watch CSI Miami and just about every commercial break I was greeted with that grinning moron as I fumbled for the remote in an attempt to save myself from the lunacy.

Unauthorized charges
I called to find out what the $15.88 was all about and they said there was a 9 day free trial after that I would be charged. It advertises FREE.. That is what is shown. When I went back to the site, it said there was a free trial and then on the bottom, separate from the initial info was the time frame. The text of the terms should be all together not separate and I missed it. Now I am frustrated. Also a reminder needs to be sent if such a stupid time frame is created. humpph.. There was also a unusual long time frame for answering the phone and the individual was not nice.

charges that just keep coming
I cancelled my freecredit report the day later and it has been over a month and my bank account keeps getting charges against it by not only them but by identitytheft.com who has there account inside the fine print that you don't even that it is there. So far I have been charged over 100.00 in fees that they charge and now I have another for 9.95 for this company identitytheft.com . This company needs to be charged with false advertisment because there is nothing free about this company.
