Rip off alert
I signed on to clean up my credit and settle a large debt that I had with McMahans Furniture store. I had to have surgery and lost my job because of it and was behind on all of my bills. McMahans was not willing to work with me and place a judgement against me. An employee of Freedom debt solution came into my new employers off saying that they could help me clean up everything on my credit. That sounded great so she set a meeting up with the office manager Jerimiah Martin. He said that he could clean up my credit and settle with McMahans. So I paid the large credit restoration fee and for a year he claimed to clean up my credit. At the end of the year he said that he could settle the McMahans account for a fraction of what they were claiming. He said that he needed a check in hand from me and that $3, 400 would be more that enough and that whatever was left would be mailed back to me. He settled the account for $1500 (or claimed too), and his fee was $1, 000 for doing so and that there was $900 left over that would be mailed back to me. He never mailed it back and everytime that I called or went by the office he was not in and according to the people in the office he was the only one who could help me. A little over 2 years of this went on & I did not know what to do. I went back to that office and was finally told that Jerimiah Martin had moved to Texas. They lost my file with all this info in it.Over 5 yrs later I still get calls to collect these debts and they are still on my credit report. Oh yeah a few months ago I got a letter stating that this McMahans debt was being placed as a judgement against my house. I thought that the credit companies were crooks. These guys play the same game. Maybe worse because they come in and kick you while you are down.
