I purchased a PC from Comet in BRighton in May and only a weak or so after purchase it began to hang and run slow. I put this down to Windows Vista as I know from others that this can be the cause. Then on Friday 24th August I opened up the PC to find that it had somehow reset itself back to the factory settings.
I returned it to Comet on Tuesday 28th August and was told it would be looked at and I would be informed 'in a couple of days' Seven days later I went to Comet to find out what was happening only to find that the repair had not been completed. The hard disk had been reformatted but the drivers had not been reinstalled. I waited around for over an hour for this to be done and then took the PC home.
Once at home I began the laborious task of loading all the various pieces of software. I began with MS Word which installed OK and then installed my printer software. Next I placed my broadband disk in the drive and discovered that the drive could not read the disk. I tried other disks but to no avail.
I returned the PC to Comet and asked for it to be replaced with a new one. This they refused to do and said they would send the PC away for repair and would let me know within 28 days. As I need the PC for my work this was a worry. However I didn't really have a choice. A day later someone from Comet rang me to say that the driver had been uninstalled and as this was USER ERROR!!! I would have to pay them £79 to fix it.
I am so annoyed and confused now I don't know what to do, but I have taken the PC back home at the moment pending an independent PC engineer giving it the once over.
