Bought the above mentioned Tough solar watch with a friend from a dealer of G Shock in June 2004. As consumers, we would expect that the words "tough solar" meant that the watch runs on solar rechargeable batteries that should last as long as one keeps it in the light.

The manual claims that the battery can last for 1yr w/o charging. Used it for 3months, battery flat, cant charge!

Sent it for servicing and got it back. Everything was well.

For the next few months, I know i am not wearing it, so i set to SLEEP mode. In mid 2005, I took out the watch and tried wearing, found out the battery was flat.

Put it on my sunny balcony to charge it. Although the battery indicates that it is fully charged, I am unable to turn on its BackLight! Whenever I press the Light Button, e word "RECOVER" flashes.

Also, the battery runs out within days! I only use the watch for telling time, never use stopwatch, nor world clock, no Light, etc.

My friend that bought the same model watch with me also has the same problem! Unfortunately, the Casio warranty is only a short 1year.

Solar watches cant last!

Why get a solar watch, when G shock 10year battery watches can outlive the life of these tough solars? 10 year battery G Shocks are also cheaper than the lousy tough solars..

Any comments or (successful/ unsuccessful) stories of the Tough Solar range are welcome. Especially if you had owned 1 for more than 1year.
