On 18 Aug 09, I agreed to take a carpet so I could go and fit in at home since I didn't have my measurements. As it seemed that there were others I could exchange with should the size not be right, it made sense that I make payment. A few days later I took it back as the carpet was too big for my place. I was given a smaller one and was promised that more caperts were expected in 2wks and that I'd be called back for an exchange. Two weeks later no call was received and when I did make the call I was informed that perhaps in another week-that came and passed-no call. I made a second call and was advised that they had received some more stock but nothing of my measurements. I made it clear that I would be coming in soon to look at what they had and would have my money back should they not have the item I wanted. The salesperson agreed to it. On 4 October 09, I then went into the shop and looked around. No carpets were of my exact measurements, I therefore agreed to take something closer to it. To my dismay, I was told I'd have to pay R1000 more because the size was bigger. I disputed this as I felt that it wasn't my choice that I was forced to take a bigger carpet. Also strange is the fact that this carpet, although bigger than the second one was smaller than the original.I made it clear that I wasn't prepared to pay extra and would rather take my money back as earlier indicated on the phone. The salesperson felt he had to consult with his manager on this_feedback from her was that I needed to pay R1600, plus R270 cleaning fee (I had earlier been advised by the salespeople that the cleaning amount when exchange carpet is R70). The entire thing I found to be totally shady, highly unethical and a total rip off. I decided to leave the smaller carpet. PS: When I asked them to rather give back the initial carpet that I took-they refused!!!Carpet 1: 275x183 (R17, 680_sold R4500)(karachi)Carpet 2: 246x157 (15480 temporary exchange at the same amount)(karachi)Carpet 3_that was refused to me_255x170 (karachi)
Please note that I have not been successful in getting any response from Yalda (owner) despite her expecting a complaint from me. (after leaving the shop on the 4th, I contaceted her for her e-mail address and advised her to expect my complaint as I was not in a state to do this over the phone). A few days later I sent her an e-mail, and 3/4 days later made a printout and faxed it through. No response to both forms.
Attempts from Getclosure also failed.
