Return Policy
I bought a game on 2/14/09. The game was defective. I returned the game 2/16/09. The clerk would not exchange the game and instead referred me to the manufacturer. I was very upset. The return policy says: "Returns with receipts within 30 days..." He told me to look at the BOTTOM of the entire return policy where it said, in inocuous lettering: "all games that require batteries have to go back to the manufacturer". Had I known that I would not be allowed to exchange a defective game within 2 days of purchase I would have NEVER bought the game from Game Daze. Of course, the 1-800# the clerk gave me was incorrect and I was referred to another #. Then, after giving Mattel all my personal information (required) I was told that I would have to wait for a prepaid mailing label to be mailed to me and mail the defective item to them along with my original receipt. Then, theorectically, within 30 days I would receive a voucher for the amount I paid to be able to purchase another game from a local dealer...no, I didn't have to go back to GAME DAZE. Oh yes, and be sure to get a tracking # in case the item gets lost in the system. They also told me that it was UNUSUAL for a store to have this kind of policy...Game Daze probably just didn't want to have to hassle with the return. You think?? So, for my $43.23 I got a defective game, I had to waste 30-45 minutes on the phone, I will not get a return of the $$ or the item for probably a month BUT GAMES DAZE has their money and NONE of the hassle. I will not patronize this store and I would caution everyone who goes into Game Daze to stand at the counter, request/read ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM OF THE STORE RETURN POLICY before purchasing anything. Oh wait, here's a better idea: Go to Toys R Us or Walmart where they actually exchange a defective item on the spot if you have a receipt/return within 30 days.
