Horrible manager and customer service!
When: Feb 15, 2011

The people, particularly the manager, IGNACIO, are very unprofessional and could care less.

I had Dragon Quest VI preordered(Reserve pickup:22089) as a gift and went to pick it up with my brother(giftee). The manager was there and eventually got me my game.I then asked for the preorder bonus item - a Slime plush.

He furrowed his brow so I described it to him without a problem.''Oh!!''He said and went to supposedly look in the backroom. After he came back, he said, ''Haha.Sorry, looks like we threw them out.'' and slided the game over the counter to me saying, ''Well, you came for this though right?Bye.''

I was waiting for him to say he was joking and come out with the plush. He wasn't. I was just in shock, and asked, ''How can they just be thrown away?'' He came out with a bogus excuse that the 'one' doing shipment is really 'anal' and so they throw away small things like that if they don't know what it's for. What IS that? He didn't seem to care and be the least bit sorry about it.

Once my mother caught wind of this, she came back to the store and asked how can he just say something like that? I preordered the item ahead of time, and went to pick it up THE DAY THEY GOT IT only for him to tell me that? He was very rude to my mom, saying that it's ridiculous to be 'upset' for just a plush.

He then went on to turn things around by saying that they were LIMITED anyways and that she could call corporate if she wants because they'll just tell her the same thing. As if that were the case, he just said that they 'threw' away the bonus items and ON the day that they received shipment too supposedly.

The whole situation was LUDACRIS, it wasn't really the plush as it was the very poor customer service we received.

When my mom asked him for the district manager's number, he pretended as if he didn't hear her. He didn't give her the number and kept on talking. She told him that she was listening to everything, that she was going to complain. It didn't faze him at all because he was smug and felt that we couldn't do anything. We will never order from there again because what he is doing is an injustice and frankly, I believe that he doesn't deserve the job that he has now.

And this saddens me because I'm a very loyal customer from Gamestop.I love to purchase and order from the store.I've bought from the other surrounding ones like in Westland Mall and they were great. They actually ackknowledge you, smile, and seem to enjoy what they do. Sadly I expected the same from this gamestop, where I've bought in the past, only to be extremely dissapointed with the outcome.

He just treated my brother and I like idiots..as if we wouldn't know better.Just the whole situation felt shady. You never know, the manager probably pockets the bonus items. He seems to think he could get away with his poor behavior since the people here are mostly unknowing of these things.

My mother, who is also a store manager, called corporate before yesterday to file a complaint and get a hold of the district manager. Her phone number doesn't seem to be working though so they said that they left her a message for us.We haven't heard from her as of yet.

Thank you very much for your undivided attention.

Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act
GameStop is breaking the Law. The Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act prevents a common GameStop practice of gutting brand new games then selling them as New. GameStop should have an open box policy, but sadly they don't. We need to call them on this bullshit and end this once and for all. Under FTC law GameStop is practicing FRAUD

exchange/return
Someone please explain to me how I can buy a $50 game and the next day return the same item because it was too hard for my son and only get $16??? What happened to my other $34?? I think if you can buy a used game and take it home, play it, and than have 7 days to figure out if you like it or not or if it is too hard, and if you dont like it you can take it back for a full refund, yet how are you suppose to know if a new game is too hard for you without opening the package???

Customer Service
I'm standing in line while there are two cashiers waiting on the two customers in front of me. During this time, both cashiers are talking with the guy in front of me since he is asking about what hard drives go with what. I stand in line for about 5 minutes. There is nobody else in line at this time. Both sets of customers leave at the same time and by then 8 or 9 people have gotten in the lines. The cashier on the left(who was not waiting on the guy in front of me) says to everybody that the line is actually supposed to come towards him and to the other cashier. Everybody behind me gets into his line before I'm even able to move. The cashier in front of me looks like he doesn't know what to do so I ask if I'm at least going to be the next customer then since I was next. The cashier who told everybody to move ignored me and started to wait on the person who had been behind me. I turned and walked out. I will never shop at that store again.

preorders
I recently preordered Rockband 3 from this gamestop. I was supposed to recieve a code for three free downloadable songs on the receipt when I picked it up. Since I was two hours away at college I had my mom pick it up for me. When I got home this weekend I looked at the receipt and noticed that there was no code. When I went to Gamestop to ask them about it they said that I should have brought it back sooner because they already removed the code from their computer. Now I understand that they don't keep things like that forever, but I shouldn't have had to worry about it in the first place! Needless to say I will not be ordering from here again.

Feedback
After month's of problems with gamestop and me trying to be loyal to them since I buy $250 to $600 a month in video games, etc at my local gamestop.

Maybe it's the holidays and I am feeling more stressed than ever but I am done with the unprofessional, snotty, uneducated and ignorant of video games and system. I have moved all my pre-orders to Amazon, they give me $10 to $20 credit toward next new pre-order and offer $.99c same day shipping.

I submitted over 30 feedbacks at tellgamestop dot com about my experiences with their stores since Thanksgiving and the next day the district manager called the police and asked that we not return. When I called the district manager to let him know that I still had about 20 more feedback receipts to submit he said that was okay, he would have them deleted. I found out you don't need a receipt to submit feedback. The feedback messes with the district manager, store manager and associates annual increases. Don't forget to submit your feedback and store manager's name that does not resolve issues.

Con artists
I've had a couple of run ins with these losers. They were both at the Barksdale Air Force Base LA branch (the Army and Air Force Exchange Service has a contract w/ Game stop to operate locations in exchange malls on various bases- to supplement their own stores game selections. Since they're an AAFES contractor, they can't get away with as much, or they'd be kicked off the base. Though they try!)

My first run in with these clowns was last Christmas. When a Game Stop Goomer told me I shouldn't buy a PS2 for my kid because they've stopped making the games. I should go ahead and fork out for a PS3 from them. I contacted Sony and they said that was a lie. So I contacted Game Stop. I got a quick response from there regional military manager(probably because I threatened to contact AAFES officials and the US govt. about their underhanded sales tactics. Don't want to lose their sweet contract scaming military families) He pretty much groveled and offered a $20 gift card as an apology to what was claimed to be a misunderstanding because of a less than well trained salesman.

Second run in was just recently. Our son went behind our back and went in to the store to trade a DS game he'd been given for a birthday(original price was $29.95 now $16-20 retail). Well my wife and I were pissed about it. So we told him he was going back to the store to get it back, while we browsed elsewhere. He took his game card and a $5 bill I'd given him (figuring they'd want to make a profit)and get the game back. He comes back and tells us he doesn't have enough, they want $17.99 for his game, they tell him that if he'd come back sooner they could of done something (we'd been gone all of 30 minutes, how *** soon do they mean?)I told my son to give me the game card and the five bucks. My son went to look at toys, my wife came with me to the game stop. Now I'm a fairly husky guy, with a broad chest and a booming voice. I don't use this technique on every store I have a problem with, but since I'd had a prior run in at this store, I decided to go with the bad *** approach. I walked in and noted three flunkies laying about. In my loud booming voice I announced; which one of you claims to be the manager? The smallest of them all had the nads to say he was (I didn't see it, but my wife says a couple of them jumped when I started talking)I told them I wasn't pleased with them ripping off an 11 year old, and we wanted the game back, and I wasn't paying no $17.99 for a used game that sells for about $10 used online. After some retail geek horse manure spewing from his mouth, about how he'd love to help me if I'd calm down.( All I'd done was raise my voice, and bugged my eyes out a little, I'd like to of seen his reaction if I'd started my phony tremors and spitting when I speak bit) After he and his techno geek retail bud got through punching in data, in a flurry of hands and feet. My wife and I walked with the game, minus of course the seven bucks they'd given my kid.

Bottom line; be tough with these clowns whatever store you're at. They charge higher than average prices on new and used games, they take advantage of both kids and adults naivety. Current policy is always whatever spews from their mouth at that very moment. If they think they can get away with it they will try it, but if you're going to spill the beans, and cause bad publicity, they seem like they'll cave. If you gotta shop here, beware of these corporate game crooks. better choices would be; Best Buy, Amazon, Half, Target, Wal-mart. or some local independent game retailer.

Harrassment
My brother bought a new xbox with kinect (from target) and he doesnt have a big enough room for the kinect so he gave that to me and 60 bucks to get a game for it. So i went around looking for a used kinect game so i could return it if it sucked. Well basically every store i went into laughed and said there were no used ones.

So my choices were some dancing game or 1 of 3 sport games. I bought one that had 10 games instead of 6 in it. Got home took the plastic off carefully and saved it. Popped it in and within 30 seconds i realized it sucked so i took it out, and put it back in the plastic wrap they put it in when they sold it to me.

I had 40 mins to return it (before closing) so i went to the closest gamestop (not the one i bought it from) i was like hey i dont want this game can i get a different one. The manager took one look at the seal on the plastic wrap and was like hey did you reseal this. Immediately i was like "yupp" so he said he would take it back for being honest. He opened the case looked at the cd and it was suuuuper scratched, like someone ran it across a table of rocks and sand. Of course i get accused and he told me to try to bring it back at the other gamestop (where i bought it).
So i mosey on down there kinda irritated because the game was obviously used and sold as new, because it was out of the original game packaging when i bought it and scratched. (they put it in a sealable plastic sleeve when i bought it.)
I got there and explained to the lady that sold it to me that it was scratched when it was opened and that its not new. She said that it wasnt like that when she sold it to me blah blah blah but she will call the other stores if she has to and see if she can exchange it. So she called the one i was just at and they seemed to talk for an unusal amount of time and she hung up the phone and said no sorry we cant do it. Still calm i said why not, i mean if you sold me a scratched disk its right in the warranty info that you have to replace it.

Just then shes like "sorry i cant take back a game that YOU sctrached. flabbergasted at the way she infer sized "you" i asked "ME?!?! you are really going there?" she was like yea YOU scratched it. I then told her "well ____ im going to call the CEO and have a word with him, cause you dont just accuse your customers" she started laughing at me saying "o really well have fun with that" I then asked her for the CEO number (seeing as how its a store they should have it) and she had some smart allic response. she said "You really think i cary it around with me? you should have it seeing as how your good friends with him and all"

At this point im fuming but trying to keep my cool and my 2 buddys are kinda getting nervous because they have never seen me mad.

I asked "are you really going to harrass me? really? you really want to start this?" and she was like you started it first. And that she called the other gamestop and they said that i said i had played it. I never told them anything other than yea i opened it and tried to reseal it. i then asked for her to give my money back or change the disks out or something, just giving her a chance to fix the problem. And then she threatened to call the cops on me, then her co worker threatened to call the cops. Not that they could do anything because i wasn't yelling, wasn't being violent, i was actually quite calm, all i wanted was this problem fixed. But i still didnt want to start anything so i started walking to the door and just then another one of there coworkers walk in and they well "____ can you escort these gentlemen out of my store please" i just ignored her said hi to their co worker and left pretty pissed.

Theres another gamestop .5 miles down the street. I drove over there, walked in and was like hey man can you help me, i just got harrassed by the other gamestop and all i want is this problem fixed. He was like "for sure man, that place sucks, we will hook you up" he gave me a new different game, and the head district managers cell phone number. NOW WE ARE TALKIN.
i get to the taco sit down and call this guy, hes super laid back and i tell him everything, both sides of the story, no secrets, told him i tried to reseal the game didnt work, game was scratched, tried to bring it back, got harrassed, went to another one and those guys were awesome, got his number and here we are.

He assured me things would get taken care of immediately tonight after i hung up the phone. But I still didnt get any sort of incentive for my troubles which would have been nice.

Absolutely no communication.
Pre-ordered a Game online for in store pick up, and then realized I wouldn't be able to easily get there, and so Emailed asking if I could cancel and re-order a regular shipped version to be told, yes. Simply reply to this email to confirm and then re-order.

I reply saying, yes, please cancel my order, and thanks.

I re-ordered and received an email from the same person acting as though he hadn't communicated with me before saying precisely the opposite, that I couldn't cancel that game unless I went directly to the store and canceled it with them.
I replied saying that I'd just re-ordered the mailed out version of the same game on his say so, and if I couldn't cancel the in store pick up version I would like to cancel the shipped out version I ordered less than 6 hours previously.
I get a reply saying that I wasn't able to cancel the mailed out version due to it being a pre-order.

Again, I reply complaining, saying I wouldn't have ordered that second game unless told I was able to do so directly by one of their representatives.

I called and complained and had a very unhelpful guy, who was clearly not interested in my problems speak with me.
It took age to explain to him that I simply didn't want two versions of the same game, and wouldn't have them ordered if this hadn't happened in this direct order.
He waived the gamestop in store 5 dollar fine if you don't collect an in store purchase and said I could leave it there.

They replied and apologized to my email complaint, game me a 30 dollar online gift coupon and said they would waive the shipment on the mailed out version and I could simply return it to any store upon it's arrival and either keep the in store one, or not.

The release day came and I actually got to go to the store and pick it up, thinking I could return the mailed out version after all.

The mailed out version never arrived. The mailing charge didn't waive, and somehow I paid for the online mailed out price instead of the in store pick up fee when I collected the game. Online and in my account it stated that it had been mailed out, but the USPS tracking stated that there was no information for the item.
I emailed them again and again trying to figure out where it was so i could return it.
It took another 6 or so emails to gamestop, every time restarting the conversation as it would hit a different person who had as little interest in the matter as the first.
It felt like I'd reach some kind of semi conclusion, and reply to ask a follow up, only to have a new person reply with a cut and paste saying "You can return your item by..." only to have me reply with growing anger that I didn't have the damn item!

I contacted my bank saying that I thought there may even be some kind of leg pulling going on here, as they seem to be deliberately misunderstanding me to a huge degree, and would I be able to file fraud charges with them over this kind of situation?
They told me I could.

I finally replied saying in upper case caps, making me feel like a jerk, frankly, that I advised them to read through the entire email this time as I would be filing fraud charges with my bank after this final attempt, and sure enough, I got a full refund. Over 1 month later.

You guys...I know you pay your workers a low wage from what I hear, but this is not okay. It's a classic example of how you're wasting money in trying to save it. I'm still not completely sure I wasn't being toyed with for fun. It was an incredibly simple matter.
I've found my local gamestop to be really friendly and the staff super nice, but your online ordering capabilities and help staff are absolutely terrible and I will go out of my way to never use them ever again. There are other options.
