False Advertising
I had ordered the new 250GB Hard Drive for the Xbox 360 on the website with the COUPON CODE: 25OFF. The code was 25% off any order over 100$ w/ free shipping. The code was ACCEPTED & I received a confirmation e-mail about my order and when it would be delivered.
I just received an e-mail that the order was canceled. I thought it may have been a server error so I tried to re-order it from the website, but the coupon code was no longer valid. I called Customer Service and they said it was a mistake to allow the coupon code to work and that they would not honor their own code. This falls under that a common type of FRAUD known as FALSE ADVERTISING. I asked to speak to the supervisor and he was no more help than a guy selling sand in a desert.
I just finished submitting a complaint through the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in hopes of some form of resolution (honoring their code would be nice). If not, I will make it my mission to twitter/facebook/myspace this event to everyone I know about how GameStop does business. (shady like)
This is the first time that I have ever had a problem like this. I would bet that Amazon.com or Buy.com would be the first to apologize, take the hit by honoring it, and move on with life. Making me (the customer) happy and continuing to both ORDER from them; and recommending them to friends & family.
This is the LAST time I will ever deal with Gamestop at all (online or in stores). The fact that you can ALWAYS get it cheaper online at Amazon/Buy/Ebay; and you don't have to pay tax makes it superior. That and as you can see, Amazon doesn't honor their OWN CODES!...
Disgruntled Consumer,
Mike

Return Policy
My wife bought a new nintendo ds lite from gamestop for $129.99 for herself on her birthday .She thought she was getting the new nintendo ds lite (i) .big difference right ? but one has wifi . she tried to return it the next day with reciept for cash back or exchange to get the correct one .A young disrespectful manger informed us that alll we could do is sell it used for $40 trade in value we were outraged the manager did tell us the return policy is on the back of the reciept which you obviously get after you purchase a item and small cardboard standup on th counter (the manager had to move other standups that were blocking it).The box was open because my wife checks to make sure that whatever she bought is in there, stranger things have happened. But the way we were treated and the hard earned money spent on these expensive items justify a fair policy or be made aware of gamestops shady and mostly unordinary return policy on large electronic purchases(post a big sign like most reputable franchises. In the end gamestop gave her $32 for it and we paid about $100 to never shop there again and I would advise you too ! Walmart, Bestbuy, Kmart anywhere but gamestop .GAMESTOP YORK PA GALLERIA MALL AND EAST MARKET ST from MR and MS TIRADO [email protected]

Don't shop here
I used to work at GameStop, so I can say from personal experience, don't shop here, unless you're buying a new game (and even then be careful). Here's why:
-You get virtually nothing when trading in games, you can get a lot more selling online. Even if you do trade in to GameStop, you can only get store credit, which can only be used at their stores. If you want cash, you have to accept 20% less.
-Most used products don't work too well. Only systems are tested, and even then, only to make sure that they turn on and the controller works. Used games are frequently scratched and unusable. Used accessories aren't tested or cleaned.
-If you buy a new game, make sure it is factory sealed. Every time GameStop receives new copies of a game that they were previously out of stock on, they open one up and stick the disc in a paper sleeve and squeeze it in a drawer with no other protection. Employees are allowed to take that "new" copy home and play it themselves. When it is brought back, it is still sold as new, even though it is obviously used.
-Employees are rude and discourteous (I know I was), and will try to get you to spend money on stuff you don't need.
-Used systems are terrible. From personal shopping experience, I bought a used Xbox from them several years ago before I worked for them. The Xbox was packaged with the wrong wires, a wireless controller with no receiver (original Xbox, not Xbox 360), and the system itself had dead bugs caught in it.
-Used games are generally only $5 less than their new counterparts.
If you are thinking of working for them, don't. Employees are treated badly by corporate. The pay is pretty bad, too. I had about two years of retail experience at a manager level before working for them and didn't get paid anymore than at my previous job, despite my request to. I was also hired at the end of October, was told it was a part-time job and would still be employed after the holidays, and got laid off after new years. The pay system is really bad, too. Instead of giving you a check which you can cash or deposit, they pay you on a special card. While you can withdraw money from it at any ATM, there is a transaction charge by the card company for each time you withdraw, or use it buy something, which is ridiculous. Why should there be a fee for me to withdraw my paycheck? The card can only be used at GameStop/EBGames/Babbages or Barnes and Noble to purchase items.
Overall it's a pretty bad working and shopping experience and I urge anyone reading this to buy and/or work anywhere else.

Customer Service
Dear store #6173. You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. I come in at 12:29 and you really think that you are above doing your job and selling me the game that is on sale at the midnight premiere. So the doors open the gate is up and all your employees are standing around. I'm a 6 foot white male dressed in shorts and a Cutter and Buck jacket. Who the hell do you think you are to say you won't sell me the game I had exact cash on me and another $500 dollars. I hope you burn in hell for your lack of Southern Hospitality. By the way, it was a 30 minute drive from one Gamestop that matters on Eastchester to your POS location on S Main. I'll be sure to call tomorrow hoping to speak to the women that turned me away and laugh at the fact that I go to college, I make more in a month than you make in a year as it is, and your kids are hopefully starving to death because you work at a GAMESTOP.

False Advertising
Most recently GameStop Advertised SAVE $20.00 on anything in the entire store with the trade of a qualifying game. Valid 12/26/09 – 1/10/09. No limits no restrictions. So I took my son with a qualifying game to our local store. The trade in value of his game $28.00. When we went to check out there was no $20.00 savings. The local employee called two stores to figure out why it was not providing the $20.00 savings and could not get an answer. After about 20 minutes I agreed to follow up with the Corporate office the next business day. After calling the corporate office they informed me it was a poorly worded advertisement and what it was really suppose to say was you were guaranteed $20.00 trade in value. Well that is not what the advertisement said!! The customer service rep so all he could do was apologize and they have received several complaints on the same issue. I asked if you have received several complaints and can tell me it was worded wrong why is it still being advertised. No answer!!!

Fraudulent practices
On December 30, 2009, my nephew bought a new Xbox 360 from Gamestop Store #4807 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. When he opened it (seemed to be factory sealed), he found that it didn't work and determined that the problem was a controller. Upon close inspection, he could see that the controller was in used condition - very used. He returned it to the store that same day and they exchanged it without even looking in the box. That seemed to be a trusting thing to do - but there's apparently another side to this. I went back with him to get a copy of his original receipt, which the clerk never gave back to him and I asked her how a used controller could get sold as new. She said it was weird, but it came like that from Microsoft. Hmmm... Well, here's the really amazing thing. While we were there, another customer came in at the other end of the counter and said that his "brand new" Xbox 360 didn't work. The clerk apparently was able to determine (scanning the serial number?) that the Xbox 360 had been bought from BestBuy over a year ago, but the customer showed the receipt from Gamestop and the clerk gave him a new one. How unbelievable is it that this would happen just while we were there for that very same issue? My assessment - this was no coincidence. I believe that this store is taking in old systems and selling them as new. I don't know how many people are involved, but this is just too coincidental and I am planning to call Gamestop HQ tomorrow to file an official complaint.

Poor Customer Service
When I called this specific Gamestop today to ask them a question about my ps3 (if they knew if there is a master reset buton for the ps3) the woman on the phone RUDELY responded with a hint of sarcasm "well if you hold down the power button for 2 mintues and nothing happens, then its broke." and hung on up me right after. I didn't ask her in a rude or unpolite way I honestly just wanted to know. I believe that this person shouldn't have responded so rudely and later on I found out on the internet the simple solution. Gamestop employees should be more product savvy, be more helpful and know their products.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
I was a loyal and frequent customer at this store but no longer. I was unfortunate enough to buy a RC car for my son from there and came home to find it poorly made, cheap, and not working at all. I went back within 7 days and asked for a store credit because obviously I did not want the same cheap toy that I spent $25 on but was refused. Yes, maybe that is their store policy, a bad one at that, but I think keeping loyal customers happy would be more important. I was not asking for my money back, I was glad to spend that money and more on something else but they just did not care. I will chalk this up to a lesson learned. I should have trusted my instincts and took him to Target to pick a gift. I will not spend my hard earned money to store who treats their customers like they do not matter.

Customer Service
I was trying to place an order online and have the games shipped to Taiwan. I was able to register all my info on the website (my Taiwan address, my Taiwan credit card info...etc). When I was on Step 3 of the checkout process, there was no shipping method for me to click on. Thus I was not able to proceed to the next step and complete my order.
I made an international call to the customer service around 9:54 am and explained my problem to a male rep. He said GameStop does not ship to Taiwan at all and he already checked that Taiwan is not listed on the shipping charge list. I said to him that I was just on that page and the shipping cost for Taiwan is $24.99, but he said he was not just saying. X&#@
Please take a look at this link and tell me he is bull$htting:

These people don't really care where their paychecks are from, do they?
Gamers don't really care where they get the games from because it's the same thing with same price everywhere, but at least we deserve a experience when we shop.
