Garden Place Hotel Reviews

King September 9, 2010
Dissatisfied service
This email i sent, which to this day still goes unresolved by the owner really shows total disregard for customer satisfaction.:

I recently booked reservations and stayed this past Memorial Day weekend at the Garden Place Hotel. The breakfast was fantastic, and the dinner package, although my girlfriend and I didn't find anything on the couples menu we wanted, the choices we made were equally satisfying and dinner service enjoyable. But there was a lot of disappointments to my stay and to my dinner experience.

I had come in person, to book two weeks prior, two days in a standard king room and one Sunday in the jacuzzi suite with dinner package special. Upon my disappointment, the service lady behind the counter only had a double room available instead of a king at the time of me booking in person, and offered me the double room instead for the same rate. Since I had a discounted rate from Medialle College, I didn't mind booking that. She then preceded to book my requested stay in the jacuzzi suite also. The women who booked me stated she would call me on my cell number, which I gave, if any openings occurred for a standard king room. I said ok, preceded to gave her my credit card to hold both bookings and left.

When I arrived to check in to my room on friday, may 28th at 4:20pm, I asked about there being any openings in a standard king room, and to my shock, there was. A different women at the time who was working, told me there were openings that occurred the past week prior to my arrival. I told her about my prior booking experience and I told her I never got a call to change rooms to the king I wanted during my first booking. I also explained that I should have been called like was asked was as an available option and agreed to have done. I found it rather unpleasant being shrugged off after making my statement. But there is more.

After checking out Sunday from my room in 105, I found out that morning the reservation I had made for my jacuzzi suite a week or so prior, had vanished!. The manager at the desk when I checked out, said she couldn't find any record of me making my reservation. I was really upset and shocked. For one, I had checked and asked and made sure at the first booking, everything was ok and existed. Secondly, Upon me checking in the friday of my first night 5/28/2010, at 4:20pm, I had inquired again, and confirmed my jacuzzi suite was booked with the women who was working at the time behind the desk and she assured me it was booked!. Now its Sunday, and I'm being told by a female manager that I never booked a room and I'm not showing up in the computer. I'm wondering at this point what kind of hotel is this that you lose a confirmed reservation? Or have employees making up stories?
After being thoroughly steamed by these events, but slightly ratified by managing to get another room, I set off with my stuff and my girlfriend to our jacuzzi room in 263. The differences between my 105 room and the 236 room were upon first sight, were appalling. First, I noticed the older model air conditioner compared to the nice one we had in our cheaper room. For $140.00 (inc Tax), you'd think the room would have the same newer air conditioner like one we had in our 105 room, and not an older one. I couldn't even adjust the loose vents where I wanted cold air to blow and the air kept blowing on the bed!

The TV cabinet was noticeably cheaper, wide open with no doors like the wonderful closed hutch in our 105 room. I think the tv was smaller too. The mini fridge in the room was under stocked and partially empty also. The copper strip on the jacuzzi on one side was falling off. The maintenance door on the jacuzzi was ajar upon entering the room, and when we filled the tub and started it, we noticed a jet inside the tub wasn't even working! I know for the price, the room was larger and there was a jacuzzi in the room and larger shower and such, but the presentation was sub-par compared to the standard room we first stayed in, room 105. And to have moldings, cheaper furnishings and a under stocked fridge really doesn't say much for $140.00.

IN addition to our misfortunes, Our shuttle to dinner had no AIR CONDITIONING! I'm sitting there, in a long sleeve back shirt and long black pants, sweating like crazy to a fine dinner. Now I'm thoroughly upset at this point. And not to mention my upset girlfriend was a sweaty mess upon arrival. What a showing of a lack of responsibility for maintence and care for customer comfort.

With the food and the surroundings being as great as they were, these issues I have encountered upon and throughout my stay really damped the mood and my future interests in staying at The Garden Place Hotel. These instances really stood out more then any fact of us being wowed by your establishments, both the restaurant and the hotel. My girlfriend and I are deeply and utterly upset, thoroughly disappointed and I feel I have wasted my finances on your services. I don't know what you can offer to amend this, but I am the most unsatisfied at this point with everything that has happened.
