This contractor was hired for electric problems that involved a potential deficiency in electrical supply from a California power company. The contractor sold himself as someone who had seen my type of problems before. He said he was experienced in working on my type of problem and with the power company; and he touted having an electrical engineering background, which further qualified him for this matter.
The contractor promised to show up for a meeting with the power company prepared with load calculations and a recommendation for the power company. He said that if, at the meeting, the power company did not want to follow his recommendation, he'd ask the power company to propose a solution. He required a fee to show up for the meeting with the power company.
He showed up for the meeting LATE, WITHOUT LOAD CALCULATIONS, and WITHOUT A RECOMMENDATION for the power company. The meeting with the power company was a waste of time because the contractor was not prepared.
After the meeting, the contractor wanted to charge another $500 to prepare load calculations and to make a recommendation--things he'd already promised for the first fee. He also expected to be hired to do the electrical work on my property, but didn't want to price the work until after he performed and was paid for the $500 evaluation. He got paid for the first hour, although he did not earn it; and I cut him loose.
He did not demonstrate the expertise he claimed and failed to deliver what he promised for the agreed upon fee. Based on my personal experience, I would avoid this company.
