My female dog was taken in to be spayed at the low cost clinic. She was dropped off around 8 am and we were to return around 5 pm to pick her up. When arriving at pickup time we were told the vet needed to speak to us. They told us she was the last patient of the day and during the procedure they accidentally lacerated her spleen but after a while they were able to stop the bleeding and stitch it up. So she kept her spleen but was in surgery longer than desired. Now she is at risk of having a bleed anytime while she is healing, and could bleed to death is a short amount of time. They also started one incision and obviously changed their mind about the location and had to stitch it along with the staples from the spay. Since they lacerated her spleen the incision is much larger. Records and photos are available.
