Will not give information on where you can get local repair service. Local service companies can not get ANY information on HDTV DLP TV's.

Contacted service rep (MU137, MU339, MU417) to get the name of a local TV repair company in the Harrisburg, PA area. I was told that they did not provide service on out of warranty items and to contact the company I bought the TV from. This I did. They said that I should contact a local TV repair Company to get the repairs. I contacted 3 separate local companies and was told they do not service and know of no local service company that will service Gateway TV's because Gateway will NOT provide any manuals, parts or information on their equipment even though the TV is no longer being produced. Gateway finally gave me the information of a company that was authorized to work on their TV's, the cost would be $500 to come into my home $250 an hour for service, and if it was the lamp an addition $600. The local companies charge $90 to $120 an Hour plus parts for any other DLP HDTV . But they do NOT or Can NOT work on a Gateway TV because they can not get parts or technical information on the equipment.

I contacted Dustin Bailey of Gateway and he verified that Gateway would NOT release any information on their TV's even though they no longer make the TV's and he verified that they had a monoply on the servicing of the Gateway SHD-5610 56 inch DLP Projection TV-HDTV.

I feel that now that the TV is no longer being manufactured ALL local TV repair companies should be able to obtain the technical specifications, manuals, and be provided access to parts.
