In May of 2008 my organization purchased a GBC Heatseal H425, Unit
took about a half hour to warm up "longer" than the advertised 10 minute warm up. Unit worked for about a week & then flat out simply stopped functioning. In the mean time we utilized an older laminator that we've had for 6 years. Today we received the GBC 1702750, plugged it in & the unit immediately started making loud clanking noises & started smoking. Being the optimist that I am, I was hoping that this machine behavior could fall under "normal" first time use characteristics, however, this was not the case as when the light turned green we inserted a pouch, only to have it be partially grabbed by the wheels & as it stands the pouch got stuck halfway through the heating element & it appears though as if the pouch has melted. On occasion one can expect to receive a defective product, however, what are the chances of ordering 2 brand new laminators that have proven to be defective.
