GC Services Reviews

December 15, 2007
I know how to make them stop!
I'm writing in today with more than a complaint -- I'm offering some knowledge, for everyone's benefit. These GC Services people started calling me a few months ago. I don't know why, and they won't tell me. They just keep asking for some person that isn't me, and I keep telling them "that's not me" / "go away" / "leave me alone" / "stop harassing me" / "I can't help you" / etc.

They often have their computers call me and hang up. I think it's just rudeness. (Why do they even want to bother me?!) When there's a person on the phone, they start out asking if I'm [that wrong person], and even though I tell them "no" / "sorry, I don't know that person", they keep trying to dig further into *my* identity, and my supposed relationship with this person (who, for all I know, does not even exist!) while refusing to identify themselves. That has been the pattern for the last few months, several calls a week.

Today it got incredibly worse. EVERY FEW MINUTES, their harassment machine calls me, but nobody's there, and it doesn't leave a message. Only 1 of 30+ phone calls had a person on the other end... I gave the poor guy a slightly-more-frustrated version of what I always tell them, and he hung up. I say "poor guy" because he probably is 99% clueless about how unlawful and illegal those practices are. He probably hates his sucky job and is going to quit within the next few weeks, hoping to upgrade to a grocery sacker position.

The real culprit -- the one responsible for these offenses against Me -- is the President/CEO of the corporation. In this case, it's a guy named Frank Taylor. (See the Secretary of State, and/or BBB, and/or D&B.) Legally speaking, the President/CEO *is* the company. Legally speaking, Mr. Taylor is personally responsible (and can be held personally liable) for any/all actions "his" company takes, and that includes actions which damage/harm Me.

Legally speaking, any company who harasses you can be stopped dead in their tracks by hitting them where it counts: file a CLAIM against the President/CEO. Don't bother with any other people, no matter how high-ranking their titles sound. Don't bother with any so-called supervisory organizations. Don't bother with the expense and hassle of a lawsuit. Just file a CLAIM.

If you send written notification via registered mail, three (3) times, thirty (30) days apart, then you file a "UCC LIEN" against the guy, personally. He will then be unable to sell any of his boats/cars/houses/anything until he handles the lien appropriately, in other words, he has to remedy his wrong against you. Print this out or write it down. It works. I've had about enough of this mistreatment from Mr. GC Services, and he is just about to find out the hard way that his choices do have consequences.

Unethical
First and foremost, the company seems to have no courtesy at all. I called and tried to resolve an issue and get information on how I could go about it, these so called associates or agents start getting real condescending and pompous over the phone. I simply want to resolve a problem and they seem to have no interest in correcting the problem but rather aggravating the decent people who are moving forward... All in all they are by far the worst company I've EVER dealt with. What can we do to correct this???

Threatening & harassing!
Several days ago, my mother-in-law and father received a call from a company called GC Services asking for me and demanding they tell me to call them. The representative was very rude to both and proceeded to demand they give them my employer's info and my work phone number and other personal information. When they refused to do so, the representative began to threaten them and ask questions like "Don't you ever see your family members?"

Yesterday, my wife received a call from GC Services asking for me. She answered the phone and asked who they were and what they wanted because they blocked the phone number. They refused to tell her who they were other than GC Services and they told it was was concerning an old credit card. When my wife asked what credit card, they refused to say. She told them that without any of this information, she wouldn't be able to help them. The representative proceeded to tell her they would take our house and everything we owned unless we paid them.

She received a call from them again today, and she told them I was at work. They asked for my work phone number, along with my supervisor's name and number. She refused to give them any information because I can't receive personal calls at work. The rep then told her he would mark the account as a refusal to pay and proceed to sue us.

We are in the process of filing further complaints with the FTC and the Illinois Attorney General's office. I will be contacting a lawyer shortly.

Unfair Credit Practices
-- I was called by Mrs. Hicks (I later found out that she worked for GC Services); she left a very vague message to call her back
--2 days later I received them same vague message
--on 11/14/07 at approx 9:15AM EST I returned the call to Mrs. Hicks and gave her the required information for my bankruptcy attorney (that is all I am required to do and the calls must stop: this is the law)
---30 minutes lates I received a phone call from a Frederick Pawlik (sp?); GCS appeared on the caller ID. When I asked him why he was calling/who was he, he hung up
---the actual number that was used to call me was blocked from my phone
-- I contacted Mrs. Hicks again...she seemed apologetic but informed me that the system they use is automatic dialing. She did not say whether this would be resolved.
---I received an email from a friend who appeared to have been contacted by this company and was upset as to why she was getting these calls
---30 minutes from the last call I received another call from another female from GC Services. I explained to her that her company was bordering on harrassment and to ontact Mrs. Hicks
---I called Mrs. Hicks again this time I was very perturbed; I told her she was engaginf in unfair collection tactics and whereas I gave her my lawyer's name and number that these tactics were illegal. She wanted to explain to me again the Automatic dialing system, etc. I did not want to hear the system. She hung up.
--All callers from this company hang up on you when you question anything.
---11/14/07 11:15 AM EST I contacted my attorney to call Mrs. Hicks.

PS is appears that their website: http://www.gcserv.com is invalid

Rude and Treats
I had a disputed charge that was denied by American Express for several thousand dollars. The BBB worked on my behalf to get this charge reversed but were not successful, so I have been making regular monthly payments. American Express turned my account over to GC Services and I have received rude and threatning calls almost daily. I have tried to get a copy of the statement with the charges owed (approx. $500.00 remianing) and they haven't provided. They want me to give them authorization to withdraw funds from my account with no supporting documention of the charges or they will ruin my credit and charge me 35% interest. I am willing to pay but I am not going to give my banking information to them over the phone. They have threatned and yelled harsh words to me for not giving them what they want. This company needs to be held accountable for their actions.

Calling someone who does not live here
GC Services keeps calling my home for someone who does not live at my address. I get 2 to 3 calls per day. I have made the selection the number on the phone that tells them that that person does not live hereto no avail.

Rude rude rude
I work for a company that rents executive offices and virtual offices which means I have over thirty clients I keep in touch with on a daily basis via email and phone, and part of my job is screening for telemarketers and or unsolicited calls. I have received calls for three weeks from the same RUDE woman by the name of Jocasta. She says, "it's a personal matter", I say that I need to let the person know WHO and WHY they are calling, I was told that I know who is calling, "My name is Jocasta". In the mean time, she is very rude, wordfully dismissive, WOULD NOT tell me she was calling from GC Services, I found that out when I called back the 1-888 number she gave me to hand on. When I called the number and spoke with another woman I asked her very nicely what GC Services was she said she could not tell me until I gave her my phone number so she could look up my account. I said, "Well, I guess I'll just wait for the rude woman to call back again then" to which I received "WHATEVER! Have a good day." For a company that according to it's website seems to pride themselves on the high quality of customer service they provide their customers they don't seem to mind ruining a professional companies reputation. It's called tact, they ought to go find some.

Harrassing phone calls
I received a phone call today about one of my neighbors. I asked the man on the phone who he was 3 times. Then he tells me he's wanting to get a hold of this neighbor. I told him I don't know anything about her as I had just returned to town after a death in the family. He said okay and then was very nice to offer condolences. I told him he should try to call her himself. He said thanks and hung up.

I see a lot of other people had an uglier experience with these folks though. I suggest you invest in an inexpensive tape recorder and record the conversations. I would even go so far as to say, "I'm recording this conversation to give to my attorney, so please speak clearly." (Might even work to get them to stop calling you all together.)

Legally they aren't allowed to call and harrass neighbors of people who owe money, whether it's legitimate or not. Know your rights! If you are still dealing with them after you've advised them you're recording it for your attorney, I suggest you really talk to an attorney about this. If enough people are having problems with them, a class action lawsuit can be filed.

I'm not offering legal advice here, just stating what I would do if it were me. Thankfully, one phone call is all I'm expecting, but you can bet I'll take my own advice if they ever call again!

Rude, Obnoxious Employees
My boyfriend is in debt, and I've listened from the other side of the room to these debt collectors SCREAMING at him. I had to help him with a payment, and I spoke with Mr. Johansen, who was extremely rude and condescending and tried to refuse to pass me to his supervisor. When I complained of his attitude, he claimed that my attitude was worse. His supervisor, Mr. Andrade (I love that these useless peons make you refer to them as "Mr." or "Ms."), was equally rude and obnoxious. I asked him if these qualities were prerequisites to work at the company. He talked so fast I could barely understand him (he was not a native English speaker, either). Even though I was not the one with the debt, they treated me horribly, as if I was in the wrong somehow. I'm pretty sure you can't get anywhere by complaining to the company itself if it hires these types of people. If anyone has found a way, please let me know.
