We purchased a new GE Profile refrigerator in July 2006 based on Consumer Reports recommendation. This units has experienced chronic repititive failures. Initially we were told that an "ice ball kit" had to be installed. Then the motherboard failed. Then another 6 motherboards. Then a thermister. Then another motherboard and all in a span of less than 4 years. Now I'm told that a piece of foam needs to be installed behind the thermister to prevent ice built up. Apparetnly GE's tech support department also told our local tech to remove three of the motherboard mounting screws because they might short the motherboard. I am contacting the States Attorney office regarding options for this incredible fraud that GE has launched on the public. GE is using its largess to soak consumers intially and then again repeatedly for service calls and repair parts simply to pad its bottom line with resilient revenues. I will never purchase another GE product and will actively tell this story to every person who will listen. Any one who works for GE ought to be embarassed. I will also advise anyone who will listen that Consumer Reports should not be used as a guide because they clearly missed this by a wide margin. I cancelled my subscription.
