GE Money Bank Reviews

Failure to review investigation
This company refused to acknowledge a review stating that it had been resolved when it was not resolved. The company econo air failed to removed faulty equipment and was in breach of contract. If you do business with any one of these companies it is up to your discretion. GE Money Bank personal hung up on us refusing to acknowledge any response and favored the response of Econo Air report but would not acknowledge the same information from Econo Air. When stating to make a complaint the employee hung and refused to give her name and location.

Cheating Customers
I too have had these similar experiences with GE Money Bank. Changing due dates, slow processing and jacked up interest rates. I have also had this experience with Bank of America. So, credit seekers beware. They work just like a legitimized GE Money Bank.<br />
On both accounts I have always paid significantly over my minimum due, and generally I have paid earlier than the due date. But, due to the fluctuating due date I have been a couple of days late on several occasions. Mind you, they cannot even report me to the credit bureau until the account is 30 days past due. But, man do they jump on every opportunity to 'steal' from me. The primary reason this pisses me off is that not once in the 7 or 8 years I have been using these organizations did anyone ever give me so much as a "thank you" for paying over and/or early, much less lower my interest rate for keeping my account in good standing. That would be fair business practice in my opinion. But, all of my efforts in speaking with these people has resulted in nothing but me being frustrated.<br />
So, here is what I propose. A class action lawsuit is costly and time consuming and there is no guarantee that we would win a judgement. Let us remember that the people to whom we would submit such an action are driven by the "good old boy" network of greedy money mongers that have put us in the economic crisis we are currently in. I think it is time we woke up and struck a blow at this gargantuan of greed. The only way to strike back is to hit them where it hurts and that means money. So, I have taken on a second job (temporarily) to pay off these two organized crime enterprizes. I have made a pact with my spouse that we will no longer use credit of any sort (save mortgage and current autos). These companies are making their billions off of our burning desire to consume (as advertised to us thousands of time per week). The advertisers have duped us and we have taken the bait. If I really feel strongly I need a big LCD TV, then I'll save for it. Screw them, screw the banks and screw the corporations that have been raping and pillaging the working class for decades. We are the only ones who can stop it. The government will not intervene, they stand to lose too much money too. They are too short-sighted to correlate the boom in credit availability in the US to the beginning of the decline of the US dollar world wide. We (the American consumers) need to take control. We can do that through our own self discipline and due diligence. Stop paying full price whenever possible. Stop using credit at retail locations. I am a heavy electronics consumer. But I will not ever purchase another item on credit. The corporate philosophy in our country has become completely unAmerican. How in a "free" country can our employers tell us what we can and cannot say in a public forum outside the work place, to what organizations we can and cannot belong, drug testing... the list goes on. We have allowed our government to turn over the decimation of our constitution to corporate America. This financial mess is just a symptom of all of this. Let us stop this madness and bring the social classes closer together by screwing the upper 10% for a change.<br />
I am typing this staring at a large hole in my entertainment where my 42" plasm tv used to be (that I am still paying GE Money Bank for) while it is being repaired (yes I got the P.O.S. model :D). I could run out to hhgregg and buy a replacement, but I do not have $2500 to do it. If I were to finance it, guess who hhgregg uses. Why, GE Money Bank, of course. So I will pay for the repair and will not purchase any new equipment until I have resolved these debts. And I will not be establishing new ones. Do not fall for the economy hype. Us getting further and further in debt is only going to bail out the people who do not need to be bailed out. I have little sympathy for them. They are the reason we are in this recession. Screw 'em, let them feel the pain for a while. The rest of us little people ( as Leona Helmsley so elequently put it) have suffered enough.<br />
Sorry for ranting, but man I feel better. :D

Late Payment Charge
I was charged a late fee of $34 on my March statement for a late payment of my February bill. I paid this bill on 2-24-09 and only received the bill on 2-20-09. I am in FL on vacation and by the time the bill was forwarded from my home address, I only had two days to it back to you. I hardly think this is fair.

Exhorbitant Interest rates - raping the consumer in a bad economy
If you pay on-line and don't pay any attention to the fine print on the statements each month you will be surprised to know that your bank account and earnings will eventually be raped by GE.

This company should be more willing to work with their customers durning these very difficult economic times or they should be driven out of business by consumers taking thier business elsewhere. Unless they are willing to work to resolve my issues, I will never do business with them again!

When speaking to a manager recently, she stated that they are a business and work with customers to provide what they need. She stated that our need was satisfied when we were provided the credit up front but driving our interest rates to 22% is not working with a customer and helping provide for our need today. She further indicated that we were properly notified of this change on every statement . Well that's great if you review the fine print on your monthly statement every month but if you instead make payments on-line every month so as to pay off the card in good faith, you may be shocked to see your balance skyrocket from almost paid off to over $8, 000 in 6 months.

I am here to notify GE properly that everyone I speak to will be encouraged to take their business elsewhere based on GE's unwillingness to work with a customer and offer ANY type of settlement. I urge you to do the same! GE should run their business with customer service in mind on the front end of a relationship as well as the back end of a relationship. I and am more than willing to work with them. They seem unwilling to work with me as the manager very clearly stated, they have every right to continue to bill/rob me every month because we were notified and apparently 22% interest is "legal". Stay away from GE Money and all their other businesses as well or you will probalby experiance the same customer service I did. Get the vasaline ready!!! I am hopeful I will be able to retract this statment in the near future.

Overcharged
My son's girlfriend went to a dentist office for a check up and was given the details of work required. It was more than she could afford and they set her up to apply for a loan. She did not qualify on her own and so she added me as a co-signer without my permission. She entered my SS# and all other information. No one from GE or the dentist office every called me to asked me to sign or verify my co-signing of this loan. GE has told me the only way to fix this is by filing a police report against the mother of my grandson and a resident alien.

I don't believe that I should be put in this position as GE accepted co-signing information without confirmation or my signature! I find this practice of securing a co-signer without calling or verifying involvement highly suspect and criminal.

Please advice!!!

REDUCTION OF CREDIT LIMIT
I too have major complaint against GE Money Bank. They recently lowered my credit limit on my Lowe's account from 5000 to 447 (the amt. I now owe). They stated "upon review of my Lowe's account"...not true, as I have never been late on my Lowe's payments, always paid more than the monthly payment, paid the account off several times, and never close to my limit. I have been helping my son and his family avoid foreclosure on their home and other payments since his wife became ill and could not work. Therefore some accounts (not Lowes) have been a little late, so I know that they routinely check Credit Bureau reports and when they see any late payments, they decrease the credit limit on their account holders. It hardly seems fair, especially in this weakened economy with so many people trying to hold on to what they have. I have worked hard for many years and now to be a "number on a credit report", is a slap in the face. I will pay off the balance and never deal with GE Money Bank again!

Using My Cell Phone for Communications
I got a PayPal Plus credit card some time back through GE Money Bank, because PayPal would not allow me to use the Visa credit card I share with my wife. I have used it twice for small eBay Purchases. Yesterday I received an email from GE Money Bank stating that they and their business partners will begin using my cell phone for future communications, and that keeping the account after March 15th constitutes my agreement to these terms. Basically they can run up my cell phone charges for their benefit and sales pitches.

I am in the process of closing this account, and sent a copy of their email to our Indiana Attorney General. I am not sure that this is legal. It certainly is not ethical. They could start bombarding my cell phone with hundreds of calls and thousands of text messages, and I would have to pay for it.

Unfair Credit Practices
GE Money Bank lowered my credit limit from $250 twice with an ending limit of $100 with no justification other than they reserve the right to do so at anytime. I've never been late and most of the time I have a 0 balance due to paying off the department store credit card. The unfair practice is the fact that they lower the limit and the letters came two weeks later. So when I went to use the card I was mortified because the sales rep. loudly stated " got another card this one has been denied. They charged me an over the limit fee right after decreasing my limit, but before informing me of the change.

claims non payment after cashing checks
They claim they did not receive my January or February payment. The bill due was for $148.32 on January 25th and February 25th. I mailed checks for $165.00 and they cashed both checks. On check cleared my bank on January 14th (11 days earlier) and the other on February 6 (19 days early). Not only are my payments for a larger amount than what is due but my payments are always way early. They are calling me daily harassing me, insisting that I'm late in my payments and that late fees are being charged and my account is in collections. I have called them back, I have written them three letters to every address I have for them with copies of my cancelled checks from the bank and they still call me daily, harassing me. They do not respond to my leters.
