They tried to scam us
Last January 2008, I financed $3, 000 through GE Money Bank with the interest free for six months. I made the required payments every month and approximately 20 days before the zero interest offer was set to expire, we sent them a check for the full amount. After several calls and more than two weeks, we finally had to cancel the check and pay on- line. They were clearly holding our payment until the deadline passed so they could charge me approximately $400 in interest for the entire six months. Very dishonest company!!!

Stay away from GE!
STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS POSSIBLE!!! They will LIE to you, verbally abuse you, and take you for EVERYTHING you have!!! Yes, I am speaking from personal experience.
I was granted a loan through my dentist's office to cover the cost of some major oral surgery that my insurance didn't cover. For years I prayed for the opportunity to have this work done, and now I regret doing so more than I've ever regretted anything in my life! This company is brutally, thoroughly, and repeatedly RAPING me financially, and there is seemingly not a single thing I can do about it! I was instructed by my dentist's office to produce a voided check to set up the auto debit, which I did, and was informed that the payments would begin being deducted from my checking account 30-32 days after the check was processed. The check was processed 3/26/08, making my regular payment date (or so I THOUGHT) around the 26th of the month- perfect- I could swing that no problem.
I'm a single mom on disability, so it was imperative that the payment date be scheduled according to when I have money in my checking account. My dentists office went above and beyond to set that up for me, and were told by GEMB that doing that wasn't an issue.
Well, the payments are NOT being withdrawn the 3rd week of the month- they're being taken out the FIRST week of the month- usually the same day my rent comes out! This has resulted in my checking account not only being over drawn every month for the last 4 months, but also racking up $35 overdraft fees EVERY FIVE DAYS until I'm able to deposit money in my account. Since May 6, 2008, I've paid $312.00 toward the loan, and $263.00 in overdraft fees and $28 to put a stop payment on the auto-debit preventing them from taking anymore payments. They screwed me so bad this month, my rent that's due TODAY is not going to get paid, and this may well result in my being evicted from my apartment in short order!! These parasites are literally going to cost me everything.
I have called them numerous times, and been told a different story every single time. Most told me I have no say in when the payments are taken out, and there's no way to change the date, one told me I could if I fill out a form- which she mailed to me, and it makes absolutely NO mention about changing dates- it only asks for your billing information (My luck, if I'd filled it out and mailed it back, they'd be taking payments TWICE a month!) My dentists office called them last week on my behalf, to be told "sure we can change the payment date, all she has to do is call us." This after I'd spent literally ALL MORNING on the phone fighting with them to do so, and being told I couldn't. As I said, I put a stop payment on the auto debit preventing them from withdrawing anything else from my account... when I informed the horrible deceitful woman I spoke with I'd done so, she told me "That wont stop us from taking the money. Theres NOTHING you can do to stop those payments from coming out. We WILL take the money out, not only will we take it, but I'll make sure you're hit with returned check fees AND late fees in addition!" Like so many others who've posted here, when I asked to speak with her super, I was told there isn't anyone else I could speak with- she was it. Another woman I spoke with actually told me- verbatim- "your payment is scheduled to come out BEFORE THE DUE DATE." When I repeated that statement back to her, she immediately transferred me to the woman who threatened to not only take the money anyway, but slap me with additional fees.
I've read several of the posts from other infuriated consumers who've dealt with this company, and can honestly say I am scared- REALLY SCARED.. there's no doubt in my mind this is going to get MUCH MUCH worse!! I was absolutely miserable before having all this work done- more miserable than anyone can imagine-- but now I wish I'd just left well enough alone and dealt with my misery... it was far less crushing than what I'm going through now. I have no idea how I'll ever get out from under this mess! These people NEED to be put OUT OF BUSINESS immediately, if not SOONER!! The question is-- where to start?? Do we have ANY options?? ANY recourse against these people??
As I said-- STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY-- do not under ANY circumstances do business with them, or any of their affiliates/aliases!!

Screwed up statements
Purchased a pool table and bar using GE credit card on no interest no payment for 12 months in Nov. of 07 and have not used the card since. Some how my balance has doubled. Talked to about 10 managers-who all have such a heavy accent they can barely be understood and they tell me this will be corrected. It hasn't. When I go online to check my account it will not let me log in. Wish I would have never gotten involved with such a crappy credit card. They can't even keep track of an account.

Horrible customer service and downright dishonesty
In August of 2005 my husband and I purchased a 2005 ATV through American Honda AKA GE Money Bank. The original loan was for $7500.00 (give or take a few dollars). By July of 2006 we officially owed MORE than the actual loan amount!! On June 2007 we started hunting around to find a Credit Union to refinance with, I called GEMB on June 20, 2007 to get a payoff amount. We found a CU we liked so on July 9. 2007 while on my way down to get the paperwork filled out and signed, I called GEMB AGAIN to get a current payoff. I spoke to a girl, who hardly spoke english. Before I'd even hung up with her, I was in the new financial institution and as she told me the payoff, I wrote it down and handed it directly to the person at the CU. The young lady that I spoke to at GEMB didn't bother to note in the system that I had called, so there is now no verification that I did!!!
In December 2007 I received my FIRST notice from GEMB stating that I owed them $239 because my payoff was $85.00 short and all the additional was FEES. WHAT?!!! I called and yelled and yelled and yelled and finally who I THOUGHT was a supervisor got on the line and told me that if I pay $144.00 that we would just settle the account and it would be at a zero balance. I then told him that I not only wanted the account zero'd out and closed I wanted my credit fixed for the 90 day late that showed I had when I had not been notified until JUST THEN. He said okay! I made him recap what he was going to do: 1. Zero out the account, 2. Clear up the 3 past due months on my credit. In April the hubby and I went looking for a truck loan. Our credit was pulled and 'Lo! There is that 90 day late STILL AND it shows we still owe them money. I called, and called and called and was never able to get an answer. We disputed it online through Experian and Transunion, to no avail. So today, June 20 (imagine that, exactly 1 year later) and asked to speak to collections. I got a gentleman who told me his name twice but I couldn't understand it to write it down. He said he'd zero out the account and when I asked him about the credit, he put me on hold for 15 minutes and then disconnected me. I called back, went through 25 minutes of entering and re-entering my account number and finally got ANOTHER non-english speaking agent who was rude as could be. I asked to speak to his supervisor and after 10 minutes on hold was transfered to Cheryll, an account manager, who didn't even KNOW the agent whom I had originally spoken to. I had RERUN over EVERYTHING I had already said only to be told "Too bad, you settled the account". I was NOT told by the agent what that even meant!! She also said "We're not fixing your credit, you should have paid on time." I am FURIOUS!!! I called back a third time and when I finally got another non-english speaking agent I said "I want the number to your corporate offices, the president of the company or whoever is higher up than your supervisors or collections supervisors." He wouldn't provide me a number until I gave him my account number. He then gave me the number for consumer installments WHO ARE CLOSED!!! OMG!! Stay as far away from this mess as you can! If you're going to buy something on credit, DO NOT DO IT THROUGH GEMB!!! They are AWFULAWFULAWFUL to deal with and they screw you over!!
I have filed a complaint with BBB.

No way to contact by phone
I've been on the website for 30 minutes and can't get a single phone number to contact these people. When I clicked on the "contact us" section there is a picture of a good-looking lady with ...a HEADSET!!!
This appears to be an optical illusion, because in order to reach this lovely creature, I would first need a TELEPHONE NUMBER!!! The only way to get that is to take it off of a statement or from the back of a credit card. As it stands, I'm not a customer and don't have either one of those available to me.
I plan on keeping it that way.

deceptive business practices
We financed some pet surgery thru Care Credit. Ge Money Bank has the loan. They refuse to send monthly statements and when your loan is late, they harrass you thru phone calls. When you pay late because they don't send a billing statement, they charge a 27.990% late charge plus a 65.00 late fee. They say they are sending statements and if we don't receive them to contact the Post Office. After repeated calls and requests to speak with a manager, we cannot resolve this situation. They are intentionally not sending statements to jack up the interest rate on the loan and get late payments. This is the most dishonest Company I've ever encountered.

Deceptive practices
I purchased a Yamaha flute on a deferred finance charge plan. After they sent back payments and created problems for me along the way, I now find out that at the expiration of the deferred finance charge period, they intend to bill me the full amount of finance charge I would have paid if I had never made any payments at all. In other words, I am worse off than if I had never made any payments--it adds up to a 78% interest rate on my remaining balance. When I called them in shock, a snotty CSA told me to look up the word "deferred" in the dictionary. But I have read through everything I signed, and I don't see any reference to the idea that I will be billed the entire finance charge on the ORIGINAL balance on any date. This was a deceptive offer and I am being stolen from.

2 weeks to process payment
1. If I mail in a payment it takes two weeks to process, (as told to me via phone by GE. So, if my dues date is June 15th and I mail in a payment today, (June 2nd), I could get hit with a late fee! In this case, the "statement date " is May 21. I received the bill on May 27. This only leaves a few days to respond.
2. I couldn't get in on line. Typing in the account # right off my statement was "invalid".
3. I used the automated phone service to make my payment. The minimum due AS STATED by the automated system was $200. 14 CENTS SHORT of the actual amount due of $200.14. This happened last month and for being short $o.26, I was charged a $39 late fee.
BTW: GE charges an additional $10 to pay by phone!
They set you up to fail.

deception
UGHH!!! Stay away from this company as if your life depended on it. I was in a jam and needed dental work so I had to finance through this company in order to do so. At first all was fine, until I tried to pay off my first "Promotional Balance" before the expiration date. I had to pay it off before July in order to have the accruing finance charges waived. So I called and spoke to one representative who informed me to do so I would have to pay the amount, plus a minimum on the second "Promotional Balance", plus a minimum on my late fees (which by the way, you are not allowed to pay off until after the original amounts so that they can continue accruing charges the whole time). That was confusing but once the amount was deemed enough I payed them online. I repeatedly asked the representative if this would zero out the first balance, and she informed me it would.
Five days later, I check online and the money was split evenly throughout all charges! I still had a balance on the first amount! I called back spoke to another person who assured me she would take care of it. Not really trusting them, I called back 5 hours later to check. Still not done, and no note on the account to do so. In my opinion, they were trying to get that "deferred finance charge" at any cost. I spoke to a supervisor who was rude, condescending, and an outright liar. I finally contacted the Better Business Bureau and magically the transaction was taken care of by GE Money Bank. Nice to know it took the BBB investigation to inspire this company to honor the own terms of their ridiculous practice.
