GE Money Bank Reviews

Mishandled account!
Can you believe that I'm just now seeing what an incompetent, poorly managed company this must be. I just got a call from customer service representatives of GE Money Bank last night after 4 months. It started out with me opening an account to get my transmission repaired. The terms of the agreement included a 90-day same as cash. One month after opening this account I still had no card, no bill, no calls. I returned to the repair shop and got the customer service # but was told that I did not exist in their system. I went through the same scenario 2 more times at 6 weeks and 2 months after originally opening this account. Finally I receive a call from them that nearly $400 in charges were added to my original $2400 bill because I failed to make payments. I discovered that they had no physical street address on the account so never sent a bill but they are not willing to extend the original terms of the agreement to me. Needless to say I am majority disappointed and would highly discourage any transactions with this company. Furthermore I will immediately close this account once a zero balance is shown, never to do business with these incompetent fools again! I am also going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Unwanted calls, customer service cant understand the people on the phone!
My Meijers charge card in now 6 months old. The problem is when I opened up the card I told the woman to look on the back for my current address. I have lived at this address for 2 years. My license inst ready to renew so it is listed on the back. I filled out the forms using my correct address. Telling the customer clerk at the 13 mile and mound warren store to look on back three times for correct address. Should I of been amazed she didn't get it? Little to say the monthly statements kept going to my old address of 2 years ago. I had to keep calling to get a statement sent to my current address. I would forget to call to remind them to send me a statement to my home. If I was late calling or if I forgot to call and I called past the statement due date. They put interest on my card. I was so upset with them. I have a credit score of 750 and I am never late paying my bills. It shouldn't have to be up to me to keep calling them to send it to the right place. I should of know first off when they sent the charge card itself to the wrong address. Isn't that nice sending a charge card to a wrong address on people! Then my other complaint is that every time I do call I get someone that cant speak english very good at all! They get upset with me cause I cant understand them! English is not even my first language!!! The fact is no one even knows I can speak German or spanish! Press one for spanish! In america! Shouldn't it be press one for english! Nope we now have to learn Arab, indian, asian, Only in America it seems---soon there will be no america everyone wants to come here cause they love this country but yet they dont leave the one they left behind in the first place.. if there land was so great whey did they leave. Talk about getting slapped in the face americans... if one leaves their country to come to a better one, what good is it going to do if they come here and complain and want and start to change our country into one just like theirs. Go figure.

Wrongful finance charges!
GE Money Bank assessed finance charges to my account which were paid in full. I sent a letter with copies of my bank statement showing my payment sent as well as the date my account was debited for the full amount on the bill. GE never responded but sent me another bill with additional finance charges on the finance charge. I called customer service at least 5 times spending hours to talk to each representative who was rude, dropped my call (several times), and refused to let me talk to a supervisor or manager( they just drop my call). I do not have time to waste calling and filing complaints, but this is just so outright outrageous for a big company like GE to be dealing with consumers like this. Someone needs to deal with this so other consumers are not victimized! I filed a complaint with BBB (Better Business Bureau) short of writing to a congressman or lawyer to deal with this. This is just NOT RIGHT - big business taking money they did not earn from the little guys because they can get away with it - hope they get brought to justice.

My account was closed!
After paying my account off in full, I was about to buy a watch. I called to see if I could get an increase. After going through several automated menus, I reached the 'credit' department. The person asked me a few questions, then hung up. I called back [again after navigating through numerous sub menus] and was told my account was locked out. I was told I would receive a letter indicating what steps I would need to re-activate my account. Subsequently, I received a letter indicating what steps I would need to take. I sent in the required information. That was a month ago. My account is still locked and I have not received any correspondence or acknowledgment of my letter.

Basically, there is no customer support. The only option is to send a letter to a PO Box in Texas. There is no phone# to call and lodge a complaint. The associates that you do speak to aren't authorized to give any type of answers. I have had an account with GE Money for over 5 years. Overall, I would rate their customer service at -10. Having dealt with numerous banks and credit card companies, I would say GE Money is on par with Aspire Visa [on par as in same poor level of accessibility]. If you have a problem, you are out of luck.

Refund being held!
On December 14, 2007 I requested refund of a large credit applied to my account. Although this was a legitimate refund they needed to investigate prior to sending the funds. I understood and was told that they had a month to get the money out. My husband and I called several times and each time was told that we would receive the refund up to a month after our request on December 14, 2007. Three weeks ago my husband was told it was actually 4-6 weeks after that date and that the check was queued to print. Well, tomorrow is the 6 week mark so I called today to verify we would receive the check by tomorrow. Now they are telling me that the check is still queued to print and that our request was made on DECEMBER 31, 2007!!! Where did THAT come from?! Do you think that, when they request payment, we can tell them that they'll receive it in 4-6 weeks and that they'll be okay with it? I think not! By the way, prior to this credit, the account had a zero balance for almost a year! I think it's extremely unfair that they hold my money.

Terrible experience!
I also have a problem with this company - but my approach is different. It won't do you much good to write to the addresses on the back of your statement. It will only go to drones who don't CARE that you have a problem. You'll shake up their coffee clutch if you tell them that YOU are setting the Playground Rules as to just how you expect them to correct your billing - and give them 10 days to respond. Keep a copy of this letter and send it certified. Be sure to mention that you will be emailing every dentist, every vet, every doctor who has signed up to be a part of their "network" (and make sure you do this - giving links to the complaints as proof to these care providers.)

Don't expect any results there - But Wait, there's more!

No matter what state you are in, GE Money Bank, a.s. must register with your Secretary of State - AND GIVE THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF THEIR SERVICE AGENT. This is the "key" to everything. Now, go down to your court house and fill out a small claims form for the amount you feel they should reimburse you, or owe you. The court clerk will then send this, certified, to the Service Agent.

This means that a court date will be set, and all you will have to do is appear and show Good Service (the clerk that sent this to the Service Agent will also have sent a postcard to show a signature that it was received.) This means that someone at GE Money Bank has to get off their duff, and appear in court on YOUR turf. It isn't going to happen, folks. I went through a similar thing with Washington Mutual. They didn't appear (of course), I won the judgment and I sent a copy of same to the Chairman of the Board of Directors demanding instant payment. I had it within 48 hours via FedX.

By the way, the Chairman of the Board for GE Money Bank is Gerard Ryan and their corporate office is 3135 Easton Tpke, Fairfield, CT 06828-0001

Never give up the fight and don't be intimidated.

Fraud & cheating!
I just received a letter from TransUnion regarding my credit report and I was told that I owe $661 to GE Money. I found that to be false because I had paid through the company Universal Fidelity and was told that was all there was to it and yet this charge is still on my credit report. In filing this report I then realized that I was the only victim.

Beware people!

Fraudulently charged interest!
GE Money Bank finances the Peach Direct (catalog shopping) lines of credit. Peach Direct extended a promotional line of credit with deferred interest until April 2009 on any purchase made by December 2007. After an extensive conversation with a live rep. clarifying the terms of the account promotion, I opened the account. I received my first statement in November & the bill reflected the promotion, showing no interest on charges. I made no purchases after Dec.07. When I received my 2nd statement Dec 29, I noticed I was being charged interest on all of my purchases. I immediately contacted GE Money and the rep stated that Peach Direct encoded my account incorrectly and there was nothing he could do. The same day, I contacted Peach Direct. The rep there stated all she could do was to escalate my concern to her "executive offices" and that I should allow 2 days for a response. I have never received any response and have called every 2nd day with the same request to GE Money as well as Peach Direct. I have spoken to reps and supervisors who all have a different reason why this occurred but non of them can explain why my account shows this promotion but is billing the interest or how to correct the issue. But i have yet to hear from the "executive offices". They have both refused to make adjustments to the account. I even contacted the "executive offices" via the phone number the reps provided and it simply rings to an answering service. I have now been forced to pay interest on purchases that are clearly listed on my GE Money account services screen as being promotional purchases with deferred interest. It truly upsets me that GE Money and Peach Direct are able to commit such a fraud on consumers.

Billing fraud!
What you can do to fight GE Money:

I am a victim of GE Money Bank and I now know that this company is a criminal operation. In my case GE had the supreme chutzpah to deny receiving a credit card payment that was sent direct deposit by a reputable electronic bank. (They immediately charged late fees and hiked my interest.) I know computers and I know their statement is a bald faced lie. When this company does that to you and then runs you in circles with a letter chase, you are being scammed.

I have these suggestions. First, if GE cashed your check or withdrew money from your bank account and then in any way denied receiving it, you have a right to report this to the police as a criminal "theft". It is against the law for a business to issue false billing statements and willfully pocket 'misplaced funds'. That is stealing. Try to file a criminal (not civil) complaint against GE with the local police, FBI, Secret Service or whoever deals with this type of criminal bank. (At this point in my war, I don't know what kind of police to call yet.) Even if GE's denial of your payment is a genuine "billing error" (it is not: I happen to know that GE's computers are programmed to issue these fake billing statements on purpose) GE becomes formally guilty of possessing "stolen property" when they cash your check and then deny pocketing the money. That is an important point in criminal law. (It means that GE has to prove to a jury that the false billing statement was an honest "error" not a deliberate lie.) To get your money back, you may have to sue GE in a civil court. But that will be much easier if they are prosecuted in criminal court for these crimes.

Therefore try to report this as a theft to police who can take a formal criminal complaint and then pass it on to a public prosecutor. That will not be easy and the police may not cooperate with you because they don't know what to do about banks who rob their customers. (They imagine this kind of crime to be "civil", not criminal.) Try going to a local district attorney's office for advice. When enough GE victims report this criminal activity to the right authorities, and they begin to listen, we can launch war on this evil company.

One agency that will listen to you is the Office of Thrift Supervision, a division of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. GE Money Bank is under their jurisdiction. Send them a written report. This agency will not run your letters in circles: You can call them right away and send them a Fax that will be answered quickly. Write your report carefully, stating the facts carefully and briefly as you would when reporting a crime to the police. Be absolutely sure to sign it and date it.

Send it to: Thrift Supervision, Harbor Side Financial Center, Plaza 5, Suite 1600, Jersey City, NJ 07311
Phone: 1-800-253-2181 Fax: 201-413-7541.

Overdue fee
This company is a rip off to their customers. They have reps. based oversea's and are stealing people's money. I had mailed my payment well in advance and they claim they did not receive it. The company refused to reverse the over fee of $29.00, which certainly was not my fault and I have never paid this account late. The rep. was very hard nosed and snotty. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN EVER. I WORK IN SALES AND WILL BE SURE TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THIS COMPANY.
