Paid off act. but they refuse to acknowledge it
This is regarding: GE Money Bank
P.O. Box 960061
Orlando, FL 32896
1-800-292-7508
I have bank documentation (cancelled check) that I paid off my account in full on July 15, 2007 ($203.93). I received a statement on Aug. 8 reflecting my previous balance ($203.93 plus a $29 late fee. I called the company upon receiving the statement & was told to mail a copy of it to them. I mailed a copy of the check on Aug. 6. I received yet another statement on Sept. 17 again reflecting the original balance owed plus another $29 late fee. I called the company on Sept. 17 and spoke with someone named Ecarney and told her about mailing my cancelled check. She claimed they had not received it & suggested I fax the cancelled check to "payment research." I did that promptly on Sept. 17. I called on Sept. 20 & spoke with Jeff. He gave me yet another phone number to try to resolve this issue.
I called the number he gave me (1800-292-7508) & spoke with Miriam. She said to call back next week and that I could not talk to anyone in the "payment research" dept. Everything was done by fax. Meanwhile, another letter came in the mail dated Sept. 23 saying my acct. was deliquent. I called yet again on Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m. & Jessica put me in touch with her supervisor, Robert. He claimed it could take up to 30 days to solve this dispute and in the mean time, nothing could be done.
The company called me at home on Sept. 28 at 6:10 p.m. I spoke with Dwayne and he said he would let "payment research" know about the problem. I received yet another statement on Oct. 14 claiming I owe them a balance of $316.69. I called the company on Oct. 14 & asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with someone who identified herself as Jenny Brown and she indicated the number I had faxed the information to on Sept. 17 was incorrect. She gave me yet another number (1-866-260-0767). I have not yet faxed anything to this number because I don't know if this one is correct. I filed a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) on Oct. 15 (ref. # 11853973). I have called GE Money many times regarding this matter, but they will not investigate it. Instead, they keep sending me letters & statements saying I owe them money and I have not paid them. I feel like this company is not taking me seriously and not researching this mistake. I do not want my credit ruined for this.

Poor service!
I had purchased new appliances for my new home from a local appliance store, and financed with GE Money Bank on a 12 month 0% interest program. Without notice from the appliance store, they went out of business... So, i made the first payment to GE Money Bank ($10,000) thats right, 10 grand. 2 days later i find out the appliance store was out of business... no product for me and $10K gone to GE Money Bank.
I filed a complaint with RI Attorney General, a dispute with GE Money Bank, and a request with my primary bank to get money back.
Here i am, no appliances, $10K gone, and did i mention that I CANNOT GET A HUMAN BEING ON THE PHONE AT GE MONEY BANK THAT WILL HELP/UNDERSTAND ME??? Its been at least 120 days.
Beware!

Are they too big or just TOO BAD
I financed a Tempur- Pedic mattress from Rooms To Go with interest free payments to be made to GE Money Bank. GEMB issued a credit card to me with my name shown incorrectly on the card. I have made THREE attempts (since 9/17/07)to get GEs error corrected and I can't even get a response. I canceled the card and have yet to elicit a response from them.
Are they too big or just TOO BAD...
Beware!

Poor service!
I had a zero percent 12 month account through Sleepy's via GE Money Bank. I made my payments online every month like clock work, in fact my payments were 10 times the amount requested. I noticed I was charged a late fee of $29 for making the $200 payments "too early". I called the customer support number (which tells you to go online, which gives you the customer support number... nice way to avoid a customer eh?) and after finally reaching someone in India, was told that I was being charged the late fee because I missed "their" window. I then requested to pay the total amount off, and close the account and was told I would have to pay for that service or do it online. I went online, paid off the account and then had to call customer support again in INDIA to "close" the account. After another 20 minutes on hold, it's closed. NEVER will I buy a GE product or service again. What a ripoff!!

Fraud & cheating!
I am in the process of attacking this criminal organization by exposing their co-conspirators. When this so called bank cannot scam a victim out of money, they resort to their next line of coercion. They attempt to ruin credit histories of innocent consumers.
Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax, a legal monopoly, verify that any contention made by GE Money Bank is valid! I am mailing all of your complaints to these credit reporting agencies today, Friday, October 12, 2007, and will use the Fair Credit Reporting Act as a basis to stop their use of their partners in crime to rob the American Public.
Do not pay these mobsters, unless it will cause you to lose your house. Report this bank to Federal Authorities, who must respond to a torrent of complaints. Report them to state agencies. Those of you who have lost money to them in the form of fees based upon bogus bills have provided a basis for recent victims to take action.
Bombard the FTC with your complaints. Already, due to your efforts, GE Money Bank has stopped contacting me. Do not accept the ridiculous contentions of the above credit reporting agencies that they have verified the fact that you owe these crooks. Demand to know who they contacted at the bank. demand evidence of your orders at K-Mart, Wal-Mart, P.C. Richard, Lowes, etc. Read the law , and keep up the pressure. GE Money Bank executives will soon join Dennis Koslowski. Do not order from Shop NBC, Home Shopping Network, or any company, or dentist, who offers credit that is too attractive to pass up. Start writing, and this bank, which lives in the shadows, will disappear!!!

Scam and cheating!
I placed an order with TV Authority on December 26, 2006 for a flat panel TV and used their promotional financing through GE Money Bank. After two weeks, when the TV order had not been filled or shipped, I canceled the order with TV Authority, who had already (illegally) charged the new GE Money Bank account. They said that the charge would be canceled. GE Money Bank refused to cancel the charge. TV Authority is now out of business. I have filed one dispute after another, because GE Money keeps closing them due to "insufficient documentation". Now they are saying that I cannot reopen the dispute because more than 60 days have passed since they mailed the first statement. They are requiring me to pay for an item I never bought.
Beware!

Payments not being posted
I have repeatedly had issues with payments not being posted, late fees or posting late. GE Money Bank is non responsive to consumers. Have sent them certified letter's. Just faxed the CEO

Maybe if he hears from consumers things will change!

Poor service!
I co-signed with a then friend for a charge card which he purchased a scooter. He was making payments on the charge card, and then let and moved out of state. I tried to continue making the payments, but fell behind when the interest went from 9% to 26% making the payment much more than I could handle. I sent a letter stating that I could not pay the amount they were asking but was will to make a smaller arrangement if they'd agree. On Sunday afternoon (10-07-07) someone showed up to repo the scooter. No explanation was given. Just that they were to take it. I have the title in hand so I assumed that it was already paid for. What can I do??? I don't want this to go against my credit and was more that willing to continue making the payments.
Please advise smb!

Deceitful credit card practices
I always use my credit card statements as a reminder to pay my credit cards each month. GE Money bank switched to e mail statements which I did not ask for or want. My balances not only increased because I was not getting statements by mail to remind me, I was also charged a $20.00 fee each month for not paying my balance. I finally got a letter from them back in August stating that they rely on my prompt payments and that they had not received any. I called their customer service, and the rep told me they had switched to e mail statements. I said I did not want them and told her other companies send e mail statements but also send me statements each month to remind me. I told her to start sending me statements by mail, plus copies of the statements I had not received for my records. It is now September 23. No statements have been received to date. My next payment will be due October 9, and rest assured I will be cancelling the credit card as soon as my entire balance is paid in full. My GE Money Bank card is my PayPal buyer credit card. I will never use this card again through ebay or PayPal. I wonder how many other people have had similar problems. GE Money Bank customer service is obviously worthless. Non-friendly and obviously working for the company to increase their revenues anyway they can. How can a company like this continue to operate this way and get by with it? There are good credit card companies out there, and this is not one of them. I do not recommend them and empathize with others who have been taken for a costly ride.
