Need class action suit! Website fraud!
Short version: Their website didn't work to make payments, I've been paying bills online for over 7 years - theirs is the ONLY one to NOT work so far! If you've had an issue with the, please re-enter it at:

These get read by lawyers & I VERY much would like to get a class action suit started against them!!

Outrageous so called late charges and fees!
I was called today by GE Money Bank..stating that i was $17.00 late for september payment... i told the agent that i would gladly make the payment but not he late fee as i had not received a bill... he stated to me that not only was there a $29.00 late fee but also another $10.00 added to make the payment..I asked to speak to a supervisor as i was prepared to pay the entire amount due and have 0 balance but was not going to pay the $29.00 so called late fee and additional charge... he stated to me that he would and could arrange additional fees to be added..i was so angry by this time and asked for his supervisor... but he disconnected me immediately... I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor and reported this so called JERK! I was greeted by a Ms. Amanda Breland who was very interested in what i had to say and what had transpired with the so called JERK of an agent for GE Money Bank... she handled my complaint and posted my PAY OFF and took off the additional so called "late fee" and in turn told me that my bill had been sent out 9/7 and today is 9/11 and i had not even received a bill..at this time, i thanked her for her attitude and helpfulness in settling this matter for me... she informed me that this incident would be handled in an appropriate manner and i feel that it will be and this JERK Agent will be in the unemployment line and maybe someone like him will be calling HIM for a late fee and payment in a threatening manner in which he deserves... HAHAHAHAHA, what goes around comes around! I hope that anyone that experiences this type disrespect... immediately call back and report the incident and clarify ASAP!!! Also, NEVER deal with GE Money Bank a total RIPOFF!!!

Caveat emptor!
This institution (I use the words aberrantly) is less than wonderful. It has some how managed to fly under the radar of the FTC and state's Attorney Generals for some time. If they're to be held accountable, then these complaints have to be directed to the appropriate government agencies. It is unlikely anything will happen by posting to a public forum other than a public service.

On the other hand, you have to take some responsibility for entering into a relationship with GE. Perhaps the emotion of the moment clouded your judgment or you allowed yourself to be persuaded by a less-then-forthcoming person. Nevertheless, you've got to read everything: disclaimers, small print, interest rates, fees. Everything! Upfront, the deal sounds good, but after it's all over and you have agreed to the terms, which includes subjection to inimical conduct of GE, there isn't a great deal of recourse options, if any, that are available.

Their interest rate have remained high, even through the recent recession when rates were at an all-time low. This is a company you have to keep on top of and make sure payments are not late. If you fall behind or are late, then your troubles are just beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if GE wasted no time in reporting a delinquency to the credit bureaus, thus your FICO score takes a major hit. Their interest rates are not the highest, but they are high nonetheless. For example their ShopNBC card carries an APR of 24.24% and a delinquency rate of 26.99%; late fees range anywhere from $15 to $35, depending on the balance.

My antipathy toward GE has been growing for sometime. My first experience was when I applied for PayPal Buyer credit about a year ago. I would use it to pay for auctions won off eBay, and either pay the balance in full or take advantage of items eligible for 0% interest promotional period. Obviously, the balance needs to paid in full before the end of the period, which begins when the item posts. The APR is 23.75%. I suspect the delinquent rate and fees are similar to above, if not more. When I first applied, I was extended a $250.00 credit limit. Frankly, I found it an insult considering my FICO score and debt ratio. GE allows one to apply for a credit increase every 90 days, so I'm not sure why they don't just don't grant a limit based on credit worthiness initially. However, they're a financing business and can set their own rules if one wishes to play with them.

My second experience started with ShopNBC. On their TV program, they occasionally list big-screen TVs for 12 month 0% interest. Of course this only is applicable on the ShopNBC credit card through none other than GE Bank. I said, "what the heck, I'll apply." During the application, your approved for either a ShopNBC card or ShopNBC Visa. The TV I was interested in cost $1200. Remember the best money to use is someone else's at 0% interest. After I went on-line to apply, I was approved for a ShopNBC credit card with a limit of $500. Obviously, buying the TV was out of the question. Not to mention another insult. I protested to ShopNBC, who said there was nothing they could do. I then wrote a letter to GE Bank protesting their decision. They have yet to reply and that was over 6 months ago. Needless to say, the card arrived and I did not activate it. The whole ordeal turned out like a bait-n-switch scheme, but it was perfectly legitimate. The lesson here is what seems morally wrong is nonetheless legal.

I did however, apply to a major card issuer and was approved for a $10,000 limit with 12 months 0% introductory rate. I bought a big-screen, but not through ShopNBC.

Card issuers are getting devious in their practices. For example, some reset the APR to the delinquent rate if you miss one payment. Another trend is to reset rates if you're late on any payment for other creditors and services. Still others, like Providian, have received payments on time, but did not post it to the account until after the due date, thus triggering late fees. Providian got caught doing this by he way. That is why is is all the more important to know what your getting into.

All I can say with regards to entering into a contract with GE is caveat emptor. And if one does, scrutinize the relation under a microscope.

Outrageous finance charges!
I got the 12 months same as cash on an install by Empire Carpets. Since I didn't pay it off in the 12 month period, I now owe the full amount, plus finance charges and the finance charges are also being added monthly on top of the initial set of finance charges. That's double finance charges being assessed! I can't seem to get ahead of this with the outrageous finance charges being applied monthly, even when I make huge payments of $1000.00 at a time!

On top of this, they are sending me out another dispute letter to fill out, this will be the third, and keep telling me that they never got the first two! I don't even want them to reduce the debt, I just want the floors I had installed fixed!

I will never use GE Money Bank OR Empire Carpets again!!!

Unfair finance charges!
Just like all the rest. I ALWAYS pay on time and now I got 2 late fees of 35.00 and all of a sudden my prom. period was up. I had no idea, I swear it's wrong, but they say it's right. For a 3,000.00 loan they want 535.00. It was due 6 days ago. 1,200.00 was pd off. How rude they were on the phone, unreal.

Everyone with a complaint must write to the BBB, maybe it will help in the long run, but until then what do we do? Plz advise smb!

Credit card slamming!
Received a letter in the mail from Lowes stating that my account had been upgraded and that I would be receiving a new Lowes Platinum VISA in a weeks and it would be replacing my old Lowes Preferred Consumer Credit Card. It also stated that I didn't have to do anything, just call the 800 # on the card to verify that I had received my new Lowes Platinum Card and the balance would be transferred from the old card to the new VISA. It stated that the VISA was better that the Lowes Consumer Card, because I could now use it anywhere. WRONG!!

My wife went to Lowes (as normal) to make a payment and guess what. Lowes can't take payments on the Lowes VISA. I called the company and talked with the local Lowes Credit manager and she said that she had seen a few of these and it was causing problems (no kidding). I called Lowes VISA customer service and she stated that I could go on line and make a payment (which was now 2 days late, because we couldn't make a payment at Lowes). There was a $25.00 late fee already on the bill. I made a 500.00 payment and took the bill back to Lowes and again talked with the local Credit Manager. She called the Lowes Home Office Credit manager and told her what was going on. She recommended that we open a new Lowes Consumer Account and that they would transfer the VISA balance back to the Lowes Consumer Card (wrong!) that didn't happen.

I get a phone call a few days later from the Lowe's VISA collection department saying that I was late on a payment for the balance (that did not get transferred). I blew up. I went back to Lowes and again talked with the credit manager, all she could do was apologize for the trouble. Lowes VISA told her that they would straighten out the credits and it would not affect my credit report.

I was so mad I sold all my Lowes stock. I have another Commercial Account with them and I will be closing that one too. How about a "Class Action Suit" against GE Money Bank for deceptive business practices?? I'm not the only one this happened to. Nationwide there are thousands.

Poor service!
I had "no-interest for 12 months" financing with Care Credit, a subsidiary of GE, that was paid off early because I returned the merchandise for full credit. The company refunded the purchase price to GE on June 29, 2007. As time for my next payment drew near, I called Care Credit (on July 16) to see if the credit had been issued; it had, and a man named Dan said my credit balance was $1100 and I would be sent a check for that amount. I asked why it hadn't been sent upon receipt of payment from the retailer; he said I had to request a refund, which I did at that time.

Today, August 28, I still have no check, so I called again. A smart-mouthed operator said there was no record of my requesting a refund, but she would issue a "work order" for the refund and I would get it in 5-30 days. I argued that I had, indeed, requested a refund on July 16, but she said no I didn't, so I asked to speak to a supervisor.

Usually, I have found supervisors much more understanding than the regular operators, but not in this case. This guy, a wise-ass whose name was Rock, I think, was as bad, if not worse, than the first contact. Neither of them wanted to stop talking long enough to hear my complaint about the delay in getting my money, and both of them, for all practical purposes, called me a liar for saying I had called on July 16.

What a way to run a railroad, as they used to say. Here's hoping that I will finally get my refund after GE using my money free of charge for about three months.

I guess the mantra I learned from my father that "the customer is always right" ceased to exist a long time ago -- along with customer service, friendliness in the workplace, and things like that.

Bait and switch financing!
The GE Money Bank should be put out of business. I was contemplating the purchase of a refrigerator in October of 2006 at a local appliance store. I was told by the salesman that I could finance it for six months, interest-free. I thought it was a good deal, so I went ahead with it, actually not knowing that it was through the GE Money Bank. When I didn't receive a statement by December, I called the store and they told me that GE Money Bank was handling it and gave me their toll-free number to call. I called and GE Money Bank said it takes quite a while for the statements to be sent, but I should receive it within a couple of weeks and she said "don't worry, you'll still have 6 months to pay." I finally received the first statement in January with a due date in February. I made the payment before the deadline in February. I then received a statement every month for the next 5 months, which I paid before each due date, the last payment having been made 7/5/07. I then received a 7th statement, showing my final payment, but interest charges of $132.13, BECAUSE I HAD NOT PAID IT OFF WITHIN THE "PROMOTIONAL PERIOD." It turns out that the "6 months interest-free" started in December BEFORE I HAD EVER RECEIVED MY FIRST STATEMENT! When I had called GE Money Bank in December, nothing was said to me about a Promotional Period. I then wrote a lengthly, detailed letter to the GE Money Bank address in Dallas, TX with copies of all my statements, which showed the date the payments were made. What I received was a form letter dated 7/19/07, which stated that the review and resolution process could take up to two billing cycles. I waited and then received a form letter dated 7/30/07, which stated that GE was unable to determine the nature of my issue and to call the customer service number because they needed more information. Well, the customer service number is the same one I called in December to find out when I would receive the first statement. The customer service office is located in India and the supervisor I spoke with is named "Jenny Brown" with an Indian accent. She said she could not help me, was rude, and would not give me the name of anyone at GE to whom I could write or call to straighten this out. She said to write another letter to the Dallas, TX address. In the meantime, I received and 8th statement and GE Money Bank is adding finance charges to the original finance charge. I am going to write the president of GE and every regulatory agency there is about this situation and the credit agencies to report that this is in dispute.

Poor service!
My complaint with GE MONEY BANK is that when they bought my account from Capitol One they did not tell their customers that they would be post dating payments, for the purpose of creating late fees/charges, until after you go through and set up your first payment, click submit, then a message appears. "your payment will be held for two business days ". I was making it on the due date. No information in the account statement said anything about payments being post dated. Just the message after the payment had already been posted. Does anybody know their fax number?

Aggressive practices and horrible customer support!
The company is impossible to reach, you stay on hold forever and then get hung up on. They treat people like dirt, and truly believe to the core of their corporate being, that the corporate profit margin is the only thing that matters, and that the customer is only there to be disrespected and abused. They take advantage at even the slightest opportunities and have the least competent employee they could find.

Beware!
