Fraudulent charge on my CareCredit account
It is very sad that such bank is still allowed to do business in this country. I have read most of the complaints and more I read into more sick to my stomach I feel.
I will start with the dentist, which seems to be associated with this Bank. On 2006 and January of 2007 I had dental treatment performed, part of which has been covered by my two dental policies and part as out of pocket expenses upon an agreement with the dentist. I have paid as agreed up to the last penny. I have records that I have issued payments in the amount of $ 4, 500 and the insurance issued funds to this doctor in the amount of $ 7400. Having this said, on January of 2010 this doctor sends me a bill for $5000 as a balance for treatment provided in 2006 and January of 2007 which on a first look, seemed to be just a erroneous statement on their end, and to which I had responded, stating clearly that I do not have anything outstanding and politely requested them to clear this amount from their system. Upon the receipt of my letter, they even had the nerve to call me and request this non-existing overdue balance according to their calculations at which I hung up on them not being interested to listen after three years of the date of treatment to anything they had to say. Just to clarify here, upon the last visit in January of 2007 I had everything settled with this doctor, and there were neither any phone calls nor bills sent to me within this past 3 years (not that I had expected any ... but I'm stating this just as a fact).
At this point, GE Money Bank, through their CareCredit business becomes a factor. Out of $ 4400 which were my out of pocket expenses, I had paid $ 2260 via this credit card, which I was lured to apply for by this dentist while going for treatment. There was a 12 months interest free promotion on this card, so that's why I had accepted their business. I had paid the full amount within 8 months, so there was no way they would get me down for any interest or any finance charges. After reading all the statements on this forum I do consider myself very lucky here. However, it never crossed my mind to cancel this card, and I had never used since ... and that was a big mistake, because, upon my letter to the dentist office from January of 2010 responding to their inaccurate billing, this office had contacted customer support at CareCredit, which ... and this is mind bugling to me, gave them the green light to charge my credit card in their file for treatment provided even prior to the date when this credit card account has been opened (not that I own anybody anything, but hypothetically speaking, even if I would, that doesn't give them the right to fraudulently charge my credit card with no consent). I have called their customer reps numerous times, stating that this is a fraudulent charge, and there was never a consent/authorization on my end, therefore they should cancel this transaction immediately. They were very rude, and had told me to go to the police and wait 8 to 10 business days for the "dispute form" to arrive by mail, after which I could follow up into this matter. I was even told to make sure that they will get this dispute, which I found it nerve wracking. I have sent all my correspondence with certified mail, so they had no choice and acknowledge my dispute with a letter on their own, where instead of a re-assurance that they will investigate in their customer's best interest, they warn me of "delinquency" and "action to collect" unpaid funds. They have even sent me the very first statement, which has a balance due on it! It is so frustrating and I'm filling complaints everywhere from the "Office of Thrift Supervision" at Washington, to the "Office of Atty General of NY" to their CEO Mark Begor, to their main offices ... and this is just the beginning.
I could guarantee you that I will never stop and never give in as some of you, and which sadly have given up to fight against such monstruous corporation ... even if I have to go to all the NY local media and spread the word about these fraudulent practices.

Lies
We called GE Money loans at the beginning of November 2009 to cancel our automatic payments as we had decided to return to manual payments. We also requested that we reduce our monthly payments for a period of 6 months due to current financial hardships. We were told both actions were possible and waited on the phone 30 minutes while the representative "put in action your requests". The following month our banking account was still auto-drafted and as we had also sent in a manual payment prior to the auto-draft we now had paid two montly payments in one month. We called GE back and were told there was no record of our request to cancel auto-drafting. We then requested again that it be canceled and sent a fax as well. We also requested that the duplicate payment be counted towards the next months payment as we could not afford to have two full payments drafted from our account in one month. They said this too was possible. Low and behold, January's statement came and not only were we charged our regular monthly payment, but a late fee was added to our account for not having the auto-draft available any longer to automatically debit our account for monthly payment. We have now called GE Money 11 times (yes, eleven) and each time are told that there is no record of our request to reduce our monthly payments for the 6 month period. We have escalted the complaint more than once and are still experiencing the same "run-around" with one person telling us "Yes, this is possible and has been taken care of" and the next saying "We have no record of your request". It is absolutely absurd and we are completely lost as to how to continue.

Jacking credit rates up and late fees
Ever since the Recession started they have been getting worse. They jacked up both my cards on what they called paying late one time. Went from 7.5% and 12% & to 29.99%. Some of the most Crooked Bastards I have seen thru this Recession.

Autopay Account Issue
GE Money sends confirmation that online payment is set up, but does NO follow up email notification if information is incorrect, e.g., if you enter incorrect bank routing number, etc. Their system could verify account information up front, instead, GE Money waits until a payment is process and fails. If this happens, GE Money charges return "check" fee and charges a late payment. They leave a electronic voice message on you machine that sounds like a typical marketing message, not an alert that something is amiss with your account. When I called to correct my error, their tele-representative asked never informed me of $15 charge for phone payment. I called and all charges were reversed as a "one time" courtesy.
I told the escalation specialist that it makes no sense for GE Money not to verify the account information and send an email if there is a problem, before sending the "confirmation" that the account was set up. This obviously leads people to believe they input the correct routing and account numbers. I confirmed with my bank that GE Money doesn't have to wait to withdraw the funds to confirm the account information was correct. I will never conduct business with GE Money in the future and will be wary of all other financial institutions.
Regulations should require confirmation of correct account information and immediate (or as soon as possible) customer notification if an error has been made. I will also write to GE Money's Sr. Operations Manager, Mike Albin, to express my discontent. I will also write the appropriate congressional member involved with credit card reform.
Thank you for your time.

owing money on an account I do no thave with them
I keep getting calls from GE Money Bank saying that I owe them money on an account that I do not have with them... they have called 3x, each time claiming that 'my phone number will be removed form their list'. I asked for a mailing address so that I can mail them to cease and desist, but I think I was given a bogus address I received. PO Box 981127
El Paso, TX 7998-1127...
Can anyone confirm that this is the REAL address to send a cease and desist letter to? I do not want to take the time to write a letter, to only have it returned to me

impossible to get out of it
GE Money Bank- they slam you with all kinds of fees. Then they play with your interest rate. When you go to finally "pay off" the thing, more fees appear each month.
Every month I still get a statement, my balance was 0, however I refuse to pay the
fees so essentially my credit has been compromised for their 35.00 membership fee
or whatever it was has grown to 350.00. One of those mistakes one makes in life that haunts you to eternity.

Discount Tire Account
I got a letter from Sandie Ingersoll, Corporate Specialist, Client Affairs, after I wrote a letter to the President of the Bank complaining about my account. I then get this rude, hard butt letter demanding I close my account or the delinquency rate would be applied to my account. I have had this account for years and have never missed a payment up until now. I lost my job this year and still made the payments. One miss was because the jackasses didn't send me a bill. Ms. Ingersoll was unprofessional, rude and nasty. She reminds me of a female dog. I called her and left a pretty aggressive message. I subsequently closed my account. I had made arrangements to have the money deducted from my account so this didn't happen again. Call Ms. Ingersoll at the above number and hassle her. Have some fun.

Interest Rates
In May of 2007 I needed a medical procedure not fully covered by Medicare. The physicians office offered me financing through CareCredit/GE Money Bank to cover my $2, 000 co-pay that had to be paid before the procedure could be performed. As my health was in jeopardy, I signed up! I have not missed one payment, most of the time paying considerably more than the minimum due. It is now 2years 7 months later, I have paid GE Money Bank well over the $2, 000 charge and still owe them $1, 527.50! This past month their "customers" were notified their interest rates were being raised to 23.990%. It is UNBELIEVABLE!! I am 69 years old, retired, living on a very fixed income and I will never get this paid off! I have called their offices several times and each time spoke with the rudest people that I have ever encountered that flatly refuse to work with you in any way. I thought our President and Congress said these practices were stopped, no longer allowed! Someone tell me who to write, call, email about GE Money Bank! They and their outrageous practices need to be shut down immediately!!!

Fees, charges and bilking consumers
If you have had problems with GE Money Bank, (GEMB), please contact your states' Attorney General's Office immediately. Most states allow you to file a complaint online; it typically takes about 20 minutes if you have all your information ready. I have spoken with several private attorneys who specialize in Class Action lawsuits. GEMB is on many a state's 'watch-list.' When enough complaints have been filed, your Attorney General will take action; it is to the consumer's advantage for the A.G. to file a Class Action suit vs. a private attorney doing so. Therefore, it is up to us to bring GEMB into account for their unethical practices. I encourage all to make their complaint where it will count the most. Google "Attorney General's Office in (your state)." FILE TODAY!!! Pass this on to every consumer complaint site that you can. Let's make it happen.

PS: I filed with my A.G and within 2 weeks, GEMB had reversed all the fees, never admitting fault or error. No matter: I paid the account in full that day. Done and never again to do business with GE Money Bank.
