Unethical billing and collection practices
Bate and Switch: The same thing has happened to me. I paid off the promotional balance, on time with money drawn off my Health Savings Account on time-in plenty of time to not incur the interest on the medical bill. They rejected the payment without my knowledge. About two weeks after I paid off the bill, I get a "courtesy" call stating that I had missed a payment. I was flabbergasted. I called the company. The customer service rep was an idiot, telling me that GEMB does not accept payments from Health Savings Accounts. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she hung up on me. You don't hang up on me unless you want to hang yourself. So I have filed three complaints to the BBB. GEMB also conducts business in multiple states, so the consumer doesn't know who to deal with. I have had communications from them from FL where you send your payment, to OH where you send in complaints that fall on deaf ears, and now from some woman in SD(Darcey Segatti West, Corporate Specialist, Consumer Relations). The latest communications I received from GEMB states, "unfortunately, GEMB does not accept payments from HSAs submitted as a debt" even after I called my bank. My bank told me that I can use the money in my HSA to pay off any bill I want. The designation HSA is only for IRS purposes, not GEMB's purposes. It's simply a checking account. Money is money. My bank resubmitted with the very same account information I sumbitted to GEMB on 04/14/2011, and GEMB took my money from the very same account I used the first time. So which is it? Do they accept money from health savings accounts or don't they? This is just another example of greedy credit card companies engaging in unethical billing and collection practices, trying to stiff the consumers. I am warning everybody, "Do NOT get talked in to using a GEMB card to pay any doctor or dentist." It isn't worth the harassment. Medicaid patients don't have to even pay a copay if they don't have the money, so why are working class consumers being forced in to contracts with companies like GEMB? To Mary K: GEMB doesn't have to cancel my card, I cut the blame thing up and threw it in the trash!
Please send my any email communications to [email protected] if you have any more hassle from GEMB. I think a class action law suit against the company is in order mys elf after reading that suggestion on this board. Apparently, GEMB is engagin in unethical billing and collection practices across the board. I will NEVER use that card again and stick with my own money market account at BB&T, a bank that I trust and knows me.

payments not credited
I just spoke top "customer service" on GE money bank because m August payment of 3times the required amount did not post on my billing statement and they charged me a $25fee for not making an August payment – the amount due was $43, I paid $150. The first person I spoke to said it was because my July payment was late – they received it and posted it 4 days later; after my due date. This is of course my fault. She transferred me to s supervisor – all her own idea – who may be the snottiest, rudest, most obstructive woman I have EVER spoken to – and I used to do telemarketing. The fist thing she said – I am not kidding – was “Why exactly did you think you needed a supervisor??” It got worse from there. The jist of it – if I get this right – is I was charged a late fee for paying early; they will NOT credit overages as payment until the end of the billing cycle so it oes not appear on my statement; you cannot have an updated statement (the automated phone message says you can); and I cannot change due date so I can actually pay the bill in a timely way for me instead of having to artificially delay my payment until their due date to avoid a late fee (?????) I have to receive the bill - hold the bills for at least a week - then pay it or it will credit to the previous billing cycle and I will get another late fee. Even thi-ough I am paying two and three times the amount due, the compnay will charge me a latepayment fee every month my payment is not posted - on their end - on the 7th or 8th. I could not find out what happens if those dates are on the weekend. This appears to be a deliberate attempt to collect fees and feels fraudulent.

Be Warned!
This company is presented by dentists, doctors, vets, etc. to help people cover costs when they don't have the cash to pay for them.
In an emergency many of us have little or no choice. For example, a person desperate to save a pet's life or in need of an emergency root canal may find Care Credit to be the only real option.
I'm okay with this, I could even deal with a higher interest rate. But to charge a HUGE rate of about 30% THEN charge a MONTHLY "finance charge" of almost $40 per months, is effectively bleeding consumers dry for years to come.
If a person can't pay for services at the time of visit, how will they ever pay this card off? This sort of thing should be illegal!
Care Credit could easily provide this service at a lower rate and ditch the finance charge and people would happily use this service forever. Instead, we are resorting to these postings and searches for class actions.
This company preys on the hardships and tradgedies of it's clients. This is NOT okay.

ILLEGAL PRACTICES
I APPLIED FOR CREDIT TO PAY A DENTIST, I HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR OVER 8 MONTHS, IVE NEVER BEEN LATE OR MISSED A PAYMENT. I RECIEVED A LETTER FROM THEM STATING THEY WERE CANCELLING MY CREDIT WITH THEM AND REPORTING IT ON MY CREDIT AS'ACCT. CLOSED BY LENDER. WHEN I APPLIED THEY ASKED FOR A CO-SIGNER AND REQUIRED PERSONAL INFO FROM HIM. WHY ASK FOR A CO-SIGNER AND THERN END YOUR ACCT. FOR NO REASON? I HAVE CHECKED MY CREDIT HISTORY AND IN 52 YEARS I HAVE 1 BLEMISH ON THERE FOR 250.00 DOLLARES, WHICH IS A DISPUTE WITH ME. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THEY DO WITH THE PERSONAL INFO ON THE CO-SIGNERS THEY REQUIRE SINCE THEY DO NOT HONOR THE CO-SIGNER PROGRAM. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED AND IF ANYONE IN CALIFORNIA WOULD LIKE TO BRING A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THESE PEOPLE I AM INTERESTED. I HAVE CHECKED THE COMPLAINTS MADE ABOUT THEM AND IT IS UNBELIEVABLE AND SCARRY.

Customer service Sucks!!
I have a GE Money Bank/Care Credit Care. It is used for medical expenses. This company cares nothing about you circumstances and doesnt attempt to work with you in the least. I was a few days late on my payments and most companies give you at least a five day grace but not you are charge a late fee the next day. I call once to ask about the fee being waved since I paid like a day or two later and no assistance at all what so ever. Most credit card companies may wave up to one late fee but they did not such thing. Then the same month I was going to pay the card off completely I was charged my interest in full which didnt accrue until this same month but in the beginnign of the month whereas I intended to pay at the end of the month and again I called (and was on hold for 68minutes) and once again not bending no flexibility at all I now cannot afford to pay off the card because I also have to pay the financing charges. This company sucks and please believe I will tell everyone I can NOT to fool with them they are inhumain and will not help you in the least.

Late Fees
I make monthly payments, on the web, on the payment due date and GE Money Bank sends immediate online acknowledgements, then when I get my next statement, they show the payment made later than the due date and then they assess a $39 late fee. Also, they change the due dates on a monthly basis; I've been told they operate on a 23 billing cycle, definitely not conducive to normal (30 day) money management cycles. Their people have told me they'll remove the late fees, then never do. The personnel at GE Money Bank are rude, inflexible and uncoopertive. I'll never do business with them again once my account is payoff.

Billing cycle changes
I paid over half down on a total of $3000 with Lasik Vision located off 28th street in Grand Rapids MI
The remainder was financed through an offer with GE Money Bank for 18 months same as cash with a minimum monthly payment. My first payment was set up with a due date of 12-5-07. I then set up the payments on my bill pay for the year to be paid on or before the 5th of each month. Midway through the year my payment schedule was changed for no reason. My account started accruing interest on top of a 40.00 late fee for five months before I caught the scam. They refused to work with my despite offering to pay the balance in full if they were willing to erase some of the late charges. No deal! They were rude and a gal by the name of Shantel, actually hung up on me!!! I will never do business with these people again and I sincerely hope the company goes under. We will be contacting the Lasik Center and advise that they switch to another financer in the future. I was paying more in finance and late fees than my payment covered!!!

Ripoff Artists
Paying off credit loan for dental work. Made payments on regular basis. Started to make early payments with amounts 4 times the minimum due amount. GE Money started charging me late fees because the payments did not come in during the "window" they say payments have to be made.
I was told, "even if you make payments early, if you don't send in a payment in the current billing cycle, you will be charged a late fee." "It will only be credited to your balance, not that you are ahead of your payment." "The system can't function that way, and it automatically charges late fees if they don't come in on the billing cycle..." no matter how much you have given them toward the outstanding balance...
Therefore, don't send in anything early. Just make the regular payments like the schmucks we are, and GE will have to wait longer for their Money.
Its no wonder all of the Corrupt Banks in this Country needed bailing out this year. They don't know how to manage money any more, they give it to the wrong folks who won't pay it back and penalize the good ones who are paying it back !!!
Go figure...

Late fees/errorounous reporting to credit agencys
Back in Oct of 2007, I had talked to an associate, Adrian Ray about my account and electronic payments from my checking account were set up on the 15th of the month. I was told that if I did this, I would not be charged overlimit fees or late fees. Unfortuantly this individual did not document this on my account. So, even though Ge money bank was taking $33 out of my checking account every month, I was still receiving a $39.oo late fee. Convient on there part, I never received a statement from them. I did receive a letter, though stating that they had received the payment. Not until months later, did I receive a statement showing that I was still being charged the late fee. I called numerous times and was told that I would have to talk to a Supervisor to have the late fee reversed and than was put on hold for ever. I did talk to a supervisor, Steve, in June, who reversed one late fee and told me that the reason I was being still being charged a late fee, was because my payment was due on the 4th of the month. I agreed to have the electronic payment changed to the fourth of the month to avoid any further late fee's. I again called in August, almost a year later, because I am still being charged late fee's, even after talking to a Supervisor, who told me that I should not be getting late charges. Than in Sept of 2008, I was told that my account had aged and would become current. I was supposed to have received a new statement showing my new payment and date. this is Sept 21 and I have not received this new statement.
Also, I had my credit run so I could buy a house and GE Money bank reported late dates for all the months from Oct of 2007 to August of 2008.
BEWARE!!! I am telling everyone, they run a scam. Every person you talk to when you call, gives you a different story. So, now Iam left with incorrect information on my credit report and almost a years worth of late charges, which were more than my monthly payments and no way of getting the problem corrected.
