Planted Virus When New
When I purchased a new Asus laptop at Best Buy it had to be started the first time by the Geek Squad.
I did not want any of the option for service that they were selling for additional ONE Hundred bucks.
I think that they plant or install a bug of some kind on it because in less than a month it started having problems, first the Blue screen, and then the Black screen with DOS command prompts, so I took my laptop back to Best Buy/Geek Squad because it is under warranty and should be fixed for free, well they kept it for two days and they said it had a virus and they could fix it for $139.99 because a virus is not covered under warranty, I did not have them fix it and took it to a different computer shop that said the problem was not a virus but some settings that were set incorrectly and fixed it for Free.
"YOU TELL ME" is that a scam or what?

DO NOT USE THEM!
I took my hp laptop to Geek Squad to have it repaired after it shutdown unexpectedly and would not restart. I was told the repairs would take 3 weeks and cost an estimated $86.00. Fine. I received a call from them about 2 weeks later saying it would cost $388.00 to repair. I would have purchased a new computer, but had some documents on the computer I needed for work. When I got the computer back the keyboard was not installed properly and the casing was broken.I returned to Best Buy to get it fixed and was told it would take at least 3 weeks for them to repair what they broke. In the mean time I am without my computer( or my files). Customer service was slow and of no help at all saying they do not expedite for any reason. NEVER use Geek Squad!

Computer error
I had a promblem with the computer telling me that i had a certificate error and HTTP eror when i went to certain sites. I took the computer to the Geek Squad and told them that i still have a warranty on my computer. Geek agent said with out even batting a eye it is a soft where promblem probably do to down loading and the cost would be $130. I ask if they could look at it just to see if it was something else and what is my warranty fore. I told me could look at it but it would cost for the test.I deceide to leave and call a computer repair store and the first thing he said to check was the time and date to see if it was correct, i did and that fix the promblem. The store called me back and ask if my computer was fixed. Wow what good service from this store i guess i will not be using Best Buy Geek Squad service any more.

Really poor service
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TAKE YOUR ELECTRONICS TO THE GEEK SQUAD! They haven't the foggiest notion of what your problems are, much less how to fix them. When my $1200 HP suddenly died, I rushed it into the Geek Squad. After all, I purchased it from Best Buy (another story!). I have a lap top to use as a back up, so I wasn't concerned about speed. A week later I was told that, basically, my machine was dead, that it had so many problems it simply could not be repaired. That sounded fishy to me, so I took it to someone who knows a bit more about computers than I do.

"Your hard disk died, not the whole machine."

The GEEKS could not tell me that it was simply a matter of replacing the hard drive in my computer. When I returned complain, no one there could respond. Again, they didn't have a clue.

And don't bother to fill out their on-line "tell us how we did" survey. When I down graded them big time, it got kicked back to me as "undeliverable" four different times.

Service
I brought a computer in for a clean sweep of the hard drive to get it set up for AV server at home and they diagnosed that my motherboard was failing. Nothing they could do and I should buy a new computer. I took it to another independent shop and it was a failing video card causing the symptoms and it cost all of $69 and the computer is fine now. I tried to recover my "diagnosis" fee from Geek Squad and they have refused and haven't responded to my complaints on their website. I just filed with the BBB. I cannot justify paying a dime for a completely incompetent diagnosis that cost me more money (yes I bought a new computer prior to the second opinion) and it was flat out WRONG.

Consumer Ripoff
My wife called Geek Squad due to a problem that developed when a new Norton virus/utilities program was causing problems with her computer. The bill came to $320.00. This is nothing but consumer fraud! I suggest that if you have a computer problem you should simply trash your computer and purchase a new one in lieu of calling the Geek Ripoff Squad. In the long run you will save by not paying a fortune to fix a simple problem.

Delay in scheduling service
I bought an expensive service plan for my projection TV. I need service and the Geek Squad unapologetically says they can't even come to my home to diagnois the problem for four days out and then said if they have to order parts if would take longer.

The letter that I received requesting I renew my service says: when you renew your coverage, you'll automatically get even more benefits than our Performance Plan and the tech genius and superior support of Geek Squad. Plus you can call on Geek Squad any time, day or night - it's like having a Geek always with you!" They go on to say that renewing the plan is a sure-fire way of keeping me happy. Well, I am not happy about their "superior support". It is inferior! Most companies will come to your aide within 24 hours - but not Geek Squad!

Liars
After spending $3000 at Best Buy-the Geek Squad was to come to our home to assist and instruct us in setting up our 3 new TVs and stands. The day of the 1st scheduled appt. after spending hours waiting on the Geek Squad to show up-we called and they said our appt. was cancelled, but they couldn't tell us who cancelled the appt. We asked when they would be coming-the soonest they would reschedule us was a week later. The day of the 2nd scheduled appt. we called to see what time they would be coming. We were told our appt. had been cancelled. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They said they could reschedule us for the following week. What a joke. We should have went to Shemans.

Avoid them like a plague
When my dog, Sketch tripped over my power cord for my laptop I was afraid that the computer was ruined. I started preparing for the worst and promptly grounded the dog. I immediately turned it off to preserve what little of the battery remained in case I needed to transfer files quickly. I noticed that the battery was not charging properly and quickly shut it off. I then started looking up repair services in my area that could handle such a catastrophe. I found a local Geek Squad and dropped it off. They wanted $75 to look at it and diagnose the problem. I told them specifically what it was and that their “diagnosis” was not required. They argued that it was procedure and was unavoidable (but it would be added to the repair cost if we decided to proceed with repair.) Frustrated, I said ok and then asked how much it would cost to repair the power jack when they finally realized I was correct all along. He smugly told me that it would another $150 for the repair. So, reluctantly, I handed him the visa, filled out 10 minutes worth of paperwork and promptly walked out of the store a bit annoyed. In 5 days when I was told it would be done. I returned, half an hour before closing to find… you guessed it… the computer… STILL NOT DONE! The conclusion was, return in 2 days, and it will be complete and ready for you to pick up. 48 hours later I show up, this time middle of day, relatively busy, no one waiting in line at the counter though. I pick up the machine, a 20 minute process in and of itself along with lots of paperwork. I get the machine home ‘excited’ to be able to catch up on work. Im able to use it for about 20 minutes before it dies and shuts off. Try to turn it on, the battery isn’t charging. I look at the lights, they’re all off, and it appears to not be charging. I left it on overnight to charge. Next morning, same thing, no power. I call them back to explain the situation and ask what we are going to do about it when I am told to bring it back in and it should be ready in ANOTHER week. I was completely unwilling to let them keep it on a shelf for any longer and demanded my money back. After a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and many many phone calls later, I landed on secureremotesupport.com. The website of a computer repair company that advertises to oppose Geek Squad and provide a higher level of service. They were able to provide me with the necessary documentation to further pursue a legal case with

Horrible Service
I have been waiting 5 weeks for Geek Squad to fix my 4 month old dryer and still waiting...

I called 5 weeks ago when my dryer was acting up. It took them a week to come out. When they so called diagnosed the problem, parts needed to be ordered. A couple days later I recieve a phone call that the parts are on backorder and it will be a couple more days. 2 weeks later one of the Geeks shows up and comes to find the wrong parts were ordered. Another week goes by and the parts are right, but wait problem still not solved, now there is something else wrong with the dryer that the darn Geek didnt notice. So here I am now 5 weeks from the day my 4 month old dryer broke and was told that the parts would be over nighted directly to my house. Well couple days later from the last visit I come to find out that they are on backorder once again! This is by far the worst service I have ever recieved! It is summer time and 5 weeks and counting without a dryer is about the most ridiculous thing ever.

DO NOT BUY YOUR APPLIANCES FROM BEST BUY! EVEN BETTER, DO NOT PURCHASE THE GEEK SQUAD WARRENTY THEY ARE HORRIBLE!
