They don't seem to care that I am a safe driver or want my business back
I was with Geico for about 10 years until September of 2006. I liked them. They gave me a 10% discount every time I renewed my policy. When I traded in my car for one that required comprehensive insurance, i called them from the dealership. The rate they gave was ridiculously high. I didn't know, at the time, that they had also checked my credit report. A nasty thing to do to a long time customer with a perfect driving record- a 37 yr old female as well. I should have known. When I bought my house in 2002, I looked into homeowne's from geico, hoping for a discount as I already had auto insurance with them- they turned me down flat due to my credit report. My realtor recommended a local NY Mutual agent and they gave me great, inexpensive homeowner's coverage- no credit report required. I then called Progressive. They gave me a lower rate on comprehansive-not fantastic- but, again, no credit report required. I started looking around for lower rates this past February. I was paying Progressive $148 per month. I called Geico and they told me to call back in march- as several instances where people drove into or bumped into me- none were my fault- would disappear from my record. It was also in my favor, thay said, that I handled all of them through the other driver's insurance company. I waited until this month and got quotes from all over the internet. None were substantially lower and Progressive offered to re-write my policy for much lower- but with a $194 downpayment. Eventually- I talked to an underwriter at progressive and they came up with a better solution. They would cancel the old policy- with about $70 owing and write a new one, a 6 month pay one- at $70 and change per month. My downpayment being my first month's payment. I had to enroll in auto billing, but that saved $5 per month. I went with that. Of course, a few companies have contacted me due to my online search- wanting my business, but they can't beat Progresive's price. The MOST disturbing email I received was from Geico- the subject line was 'legally required notice'. The email described that my rate was due to my credit report!!! Car insurance should be based on one's driving record, possibly type of car, where garaged, how much driven, and maybe the history of past car insurance payments. I have had continuous coverage since 1988. I don;t see the risk they would undertake- I am not applying for a loan with them. Now, I imagine is a mark on my credit report. Geico Sucks. They try to sound inclusive and even push motorcycle insurance. They are the worst!!! Even worse than a higher rate!!! They don't seem to care that I am a safe driver or want my business back.

Dishonest
Our car windshield was broken in the evening and we called Geico to report the claim. They told us we could go to any glass company, not the car dealer, to fix it. Since it was evening, we were authorized to get a rental car but I told Geico I wanted to get the windshield fixed that night and they reiterated that we could go to any glass company. We found a place that would fix the windshield that evening and now Geico is refusing to pay the full amount. We were told by 3 Geico employees that payment wouldn't be a problem but they are not following through. Very dishonest, VERY disappointing.

Low Ball offers
BEWARE of GEICO Insurance, they spent so much money advertising, but if and when you have a claim, they don't want to spend a dime. They will offer you a fraction of the real value of your vehicle. Don't fall for their low ball offers or sub par china made aftermarket parts. If you are already unfornutate enough to be insured with GEICO and have a claim, call you a good insurance lawyer and your state insurance commissioner because you are going to need them. If you don't have a claim, call you a good insurance company and transfer you insurance policy today, you will be so much better off in the end.

Worthless Insurance
I can't mention any specifics on my horrible experience with Geico because I have an attorney and am in the process of suing them. So let's just say you don't want Geico insurance or to get hit by a Geico insured unless you are willing to obtain your own attorney and sue them. They will not handle your claim fairly and the only way to deal with them is through an attorney. Vehicles are repaired using previously damaged parts, etc. Safety is never of concern to Geico when restoring your vehicle to less than its preaccident condition. Their only concern are their costs and expenditures. Also, what kind of company has to purchase www.geicosucks.com and redirect it to their own website? That is very telling. For those of you who have the unfortunate experience of having Geico insurance, just go to www.geicosucks.com next time you want to pay your bill because they had to buy the domain name and it will redirect you to their home page! How sad! They should use that URL for their commercials. At least it would be truth in advertising!

Poor Claims Practices
Recently my ex wife was hit in the side by a Geico insured driver who ran a stop sign out on to a main highway. The field adjuster from Geico did a very quick & efficient job of having her car fixed & covering the repair expenses.
After that point Geico service became unbelievably horrible. The claims adjuster for the ambulance & medical bills was rude, would not return calls and very untruthful. Not a single person in Geico's customer service department could give any reliable or honest answers and finaly after several weeks & jumping through Geico's maze of hoops trying to get the bills paid Geico ended up sending a check that was worthless. I mean worthless as in the Geico insurance check bounced!
If you get hit by a Geico insured driver don't waste time trying to be nice or believing their advertising BS just get a lawyer & have done with it.

Took my auto insurance away
A Geico Representative call offering to lower rates because of my good driving record, I accepted her offer thinking that I would paying a lower premium. Conversely, two weeks later I find that I have no auto insurance at all. When I contacted the company on 12-22-09 (I spoke to Teresa)who was unable to resolve the issue so I asked for a supervisor and Teresa said she would have a supervisor call me back, the supervisor never called me back. When I did not receive a call back, I called and spoke with Brian who told me in order to reinstate the policy that I hand no was canceled in the first, he would have to raise the policy by $8. I was applauded. First of all because I never canceled my policy, and second of all because the only contact I'd had with Geico was the call I received for Teresa informing me that I was being rewarded for my great driving record with a lower premium. Now I am forced to renew a policy I never canceled at a higher premium.
The truth of the matter is I am sure that Geico is shaming its elderly policy holders. The agents are contacting elderly clients engaging them in dishonest double talk which results in their policies unknowingly being canceled. When the client finds out that they have no Auto insurance they are told that they can only be restated at a higher rate. In the mean time the client could possibly have an accident and end up financially bankrupt. Lucklier this this not happen to me but how many other have this happened to????
This practice by Geico is unacceptable, I am 78 years old and I find this practice disgusting...what is big business coming to in this country???

What sorry service and what monsters the people at Geico
If your customer rear ends another person on the freeway, how can you possibly deny the claim. My dad hadn't changed lanes, he just had to slow down for traffic. He and his vehicle were injured and all they can give us is "the other driver had a different story." I'm looking at the police report. She hit him. What sorry service and what monsters the people at Geico. My dad is 75 and they are hoping he will just go away if they give him enough trouble. I guarantee, I won't go away. These people are despicable.

Will not reinsure
After 9 years with the company, clean driving record, no tickets, no claims. I was refused to be insured because I had gone without a car for less than 3 months.
They actually told me to get insurance through another company and then come back! I told them that was silly! What kind of company tells their best customers to go away?
They apologized for the "glitch"...but it is apparent they hold "policy" far above their customers, because they could see that I had insurance through them before.
They also refused to give me contact informafion for anyone that had the authority to override this decision.

Geico is a bad company, and their representatives have bad attitudes
We have our motorcycle insurance through Geico. They claim to be a great comapany...HOWEVER...when I paid my policy online, they deducted the amount 3 TIMES, and caused me overdraft fees. Now, they REFUSE to fix this. Geico is a bad company, and their representives have bad attitudes!
