You can't trust you have coverage
I had been a faithful Geico customer for over 5 years. Paid bills on time, no issues. I changed bank accounts and submitted my information to Geico. They never updated their system, then sent me a letter informing me my bank information was wrong in their system when they tried pulling my monthly payment. Per their bs letter, my account was still active, I just needed to call and verify my bank information. I called and found out that they cancelled my policy. Apparently it had been cancelled for almost a month before they sent me a letter. When asked why send me the letter, they denied they sent it even though I was holding it in my hand. I drove around for a month, unknowningly without car insurance. Then they offered me new insurance at twice what I was paying because I had been "without insurance for over 30 days". TOTAL SCAM!!!

They suck
Well I switched back to Geico from Country insurance 6 months ago. What a mistake. I got a call last week saying they are raising the rate on my policy cause the call center rep who sold me it put me on discounts I was not eligible for. I was paying 440$ at Country and now I would be paying 540 at Geico. That was issue 1. Issue two was I had roadside assistance and they wouldn't tow my new vehicle home as I was not added on my policy for more than a day. WTH? They also would not tow my car that was on storage even though I was told when I signed up it could be. Dealt with 2 call center reps and both were extremely rude and basically told me to screw off.
I switched back to Country Insurance today and will never be going back to GEICO cause they suck.

bait and switch
Geico is a totally Sh*t company! One of their clients totaled my car, injured me and my son and what do they do??? Not one thing. My husband had to track them down, provide them with the police reports. The play the "bait and switch" game by always swapping agents, claiming they did not receive the bills, faxes etc.
they did not pay my medical bills leaving me sitting in collections and now they flat out refuse to pay me for my injuries.
they also requested medical information after they say my claim was closed, pretty interesting and I am sure illegal!!
this company sucks!!! I am thinking of seeking others with a similar situation for a class action lawsuit!! anyone want to join the bandwagon??

Terrible company
I've had two claims with Geico in 12 months of service with them. My vehicle was vandalized twice, a $500 deductable for comprehensive claims, that expense I entered willingly.
My complaint is with the claims and policies. Geico's rep really wanted me to use their repair service, albeit great I'm sure, but I have a friend in the industry and had recommended a shop for me and I opted out of Geico's repair service and chose this other shop to his great dismay.
The repair work by the body shop was great, as I expected but Geico had failed to pay about $200 of the claim. Because they claimed the shops rates were unreasonable. The average shop for my area was $40/hr labor (according to Geico) and this body shop requested $44/hr. The work was minimal so the body shop didn't require I pay the different but was going to attempt to litigate Geico for it. It's called "steering." In my state, they cannot require I go to certain shops, I have free choice of where I go and Geico is obligated under my contract terms (and the law) to pay any reasonable amount. I wouldn't expect them to pay lets say $500/hr rate that's clearly outrageous. This was only $4/hr more than Geico's alleged "average" rate. So apparently Geico decides and average rate (what their shop costs perhaps?) and that's all they will pay no matter what, it seems.
Again, the shop was kind and didn't hold me liable, just asked for a copy of my contract which did not say anywhere about limiting payments based off geographical averages or magic numbers Geico decided on etc, ridiculous…
Well, the second claim which was just two days after the first was repaired, was unacceptable. The damage was far more severe and at first, the Geico estimate was about $750 dollars and then my deductable of $500 making it a mere $250 for them. The adjuster ignored my explanation of the damage [which was a uniquely caustic liquid chemical that TOTALLED my roommates car (We were both victims of this attack) while it completely consumed all paint, steal, chrome, plastic and even etched the glass (results not even hydrochloric acid could produce)] that it was a liquid and inherent of a liquid, it’s concentration varies the effect and it slips into unseen locations. Well, after the shop disassembled the vehicle for repairs they located a much greater extent of damage. The re-estimate was nearly $3000 which Geico obliged, except the labor rate, which was nearly $700 dollars in difference, a lot more than the first time. So the shop couldn’t forgive that much and with the track record of the last repair with Geico, they would not release my vehicle until I covered that amount, they knew Geico wouldn’t pay. I made payment arrangements and I could at least drive my car again.
So, with my deductable I was forced to pay approximately $1200 out of my own pocket just to get my car back, while by the way the shop had to hold of repairing until they estimate cleared and they made some sort of motion that they would in fact pay it. This took an extra week. So totally my car was in the shop 2.5 weeks, while it wasn’t even worked on for a week while Geico scrambled to revivify the damage they failed to initially identify.
After the fact, Geico ultimately refused to repay me the difference. They insisted their rate was far too in excess from any other shop and too high over the “average.” I explained, very kindly, my policy does not specify an “average” the shop must conform to and who comes up with this “average” anyway? They gave me a long explanation which was far too cryptic and evaded a straight answer. I believe this is just a way Geico is “steering” customers to their proprietary repair shops, whom perform mediocre repairs for ultra-cheap and I refuse to be a victim of that. The cost to me, about $1700. The cost to Geico, my patronage. I’ve got a new policy with a competing company with far lower deductibles ($100), $1500 per incident of a rental vehicle and guess what it’s only 6 dollars more a month than the last payment I made to Geico (Which was increasing with each payment, somehow?)
Also, upon cancelling my policy they immediately removed my web login so I was unable to add an official customer experience review.

Terrible company
I've been with GEICO for over 6 years now. I had my car and house insured. I had a car accident in June 2009. The other party hit my car from the back at the stop sign. I called the police to have a police report when the accident occurred. My back was hurting a bit and my neck injured. X-rays from the chiropractor confirm everything.
I called GEICO within 3 days to state what happened in the accident. After they got my statement, I started to go to local chiropractor. GEICO agent assured me I will be reimbursed for the time off from work with my medical expenses (had doctor's note temporary not eligible for work). DID NOT HAPPENED!!!
30 days later I was informed that I was at fault of this accident cause first call didn't count and the statement I gave them wasn't valid. They said it was a wrong department I talked to, even though when I first called, I talked to customer representative stating I need to file a claim.
Long story short, I was paying $145/mo full coverage ($500 deductible), I got NO REIMBURSEMENT for time off from work (even though GEICO promised to pay out), MEDICAL EXPENSES NOT FULLY COVERED, and an ACCIDENT ON MY RECORD.
I switched to AAA and I had no problems with them so far. I pay $117/mo, same full coverage, plus my house insurance is better quality as well.
DO SOME RESEARCH!!! DON'T TRUST GEICO!!

Bad claim service
One of Geico's customer hit a car behind me in the right side of her car and rearended me. The customer was sited for wreckless driving and had very little damage to his truck. On the other hand my car was destroyed as was the lady's that was behind me. Geico wants to put both cars on one claim and split the claim between her's and my cars. I am not rich and do not have the funds for a new car. I still had 4 years to pay on the one he wrecked. The other lady is in the same shape. Now I am having to claim the wreck on my insurance and hire a lawyer. Geico needs to spend a little less money on their advertisments and more on their moral responsibility.

accident
8-7-09 I was hit by an illegal mexican who was uninsured. I have full coverage insurace including pip and uninsured coverage by Geico. I filed a claim on the 8-7-09 my truck was declared a total loss on the 8-11-09 today is the 8-27-09 and I have not have my truck payment taken care of. I called the adjuster repeatedly and constantly got the run around that he was overnighting me information . The information never came and then I go to clean out my truck and it's ready to be auctioned???To add insult to injury I have been quoted a very low amount for my fully loaded 2002 avalanche less than 3, 000 the kelly blue book value. Also they are charging me $500 decutible even though I have uninsured coverage because it has been 20 days and they have not gotten the police report. I have never experinced so much from an insurance company in my life. I am switching asap because Geico is the worst company ever and I would never recommend them.

GEICO Doesn't Pay
GEICO Insurance has refused to pay fair value for my car for two years and counting. After reading my story, you can decide whether GEICO deserves your business.
My 2000 Chrylser 300M was "totalled" in my parents driveway. I had left it there, for the weekend, when a group of drunken, uninsured, unlicensed, unregistered, underage teenagers destroyed my unoccupied car right in a private driveway.

Angry Policyholder!!!!

AUTO THEFT CLAIM NOT PAID
I am insured with Geico and my car was stolen in 8/2008. I have full coverage on my policy for this vehicle and to date Geico has still not resolved my claim. My vehicle has an outstanding loan that has now affected my credit and all I am told by Geico is that the claim is still pending, Tell that too the lienholder. Per regulation 64 this should have been paid in 25 calender days and its been 11 1/2 months.
Geico is a complete joke, they spend billions of dollars on advertisement and make even more on us consumers. They now are trying to get out of paying their insureds auto claims. The state bailed out AIG not Geico, I want what I am entitled too, the Actual Cash Value of my vehicle. I plan on contacting Channel 12 news who are located in the Woodbury, NY area along with Geico and put them on blast. You can not do this to honest people in hard economical times like these. I have every intentions on fighting this all the way.

Absurd Insurance Ruling
I was hit by a Geico Insured motorist who was speeding and ran a red light in Atlanta, GA. (Three reliable witnesses, the other driver received a citation, we are waiting for the court date). Geico has admitted that their motorist was at fault, but is only accepting 90% of the liability, saying that I am 10% liable for "not being able to stop in time to avoid the collision". Kind of like saying it is partially your own fault for getting shot, because you didn't duck fast enough before getting hit by the bullet.
My insurance company (Allstate) has determined the other driver is 100% at fault, but seems unwilling to take the matter to arbitration because I did not have collision insurance on my vehicle. I think they'd rather do a 10% payout to cover the other driver's damages instead of fighting for my full payout from Geico.
I have heard that Geico uses tactics like this to delay decisions and avoid payments (they have already delayed the court date an additional two months, and have undervalued my damages by 60% compared to an independent estimator).
My current issues revolve around towing and storage fees for my totalled car... since Geico has only accepted partial responsibility, they are only prepared to reimburse me AFTER I pay the tow lot. I can't afford to take the car out of storage, and have been advised that I can't sell the title to pay these charges which are accumulating daily. I think Geico is hoping to wait this out until the car is declared abandoned... but I simply don't know what to do next. Any suggestions?
