Scam and cheating
I was a loyal Geico customer for over 10 years. I never had a claim. I never even had a speeding ticket or parking violation. Nothing. In a one year period, mine and my wife's cars were both hit, each time while our cars were not moving. First I was hit at a stoplight when a driver passed out and plowed through an intersection and hit a turning car in front of me. Again, my car was at a complete dead stop.

Later that same year, my wife's car was hit in her parking lot at work, when she wasn't even in the car. The car was unoccupied. Neither time did Geico pay a claim on my behalf when I was at fault. Would you like to know what GEICO did? They told me I was an unacceptable rick and promptly canceled all my coverages. When I called up and talked to them, their reason was that there were two claims against my policy. What?

Basically, after even after asking for and talking to a supervisor, I was informed that because both accidents were caused by other GEICO insured drivers, my policy was being canceled. I have never been as upset with a company I had done business with before.

No matter how old I become or how many people I have to tell this story to, I will never ever do business with this company again. They took over $15, 000 of premiums from me and then canceled me because I had the misfortune to get hit twice (in stationary vehicles) in 12 months by other Geico customers. I guess next time I'm at a red light, I should make sure I get hit by a State Farm or Allstate insured driver.

Doesn’t pay to be honest
On 6/13/08 I was coming around the back corner of my apartment complex that I live at when a fire truck came racing towards me. I started backing up because it is a very small area, to let them through and accidentally backed into a car's rear quarter panel that was parked illegally in a driveway.

Now we have been customers of Geico for 3 years and I am 43 years old and have NEVER been in an accident. We have NEVER filed a claim with Geico.

Anyway, I didn't know whose car it was so I left a note on the car and when I got off work I called Geico to let them know what had happened. I was told that if I didn't hear from them that my insurance would not go up and also that it may not go up because we were long time customers and had never filed a claim before. If it did go up it would more than likely not be a lot.

I waited for the people to call, nothing. Then, over the weekend (7/4/08) my husband was looking through our bills for the month and found that Geico had raised our insurance rates about 50.00 a month!

I thought that maybe Geico had got a hold of the people and that they had placed a claim, so I called. Geico told me that they had an open claim for about another week on the accident, no one had contacted them and that the reason that they raised my insurance rates was because I was honest enough to report the accident. So, no money was paid out, no accident was taken care of and they still raised my payments. What a scam!!!

Needless to say we are looking elsewhere for insurance.

attempt to get credit card # got SS#
internet address: http://www.geico.com
The online forma wouldn't allow for no vehicle so I called
Online help phone # 800 841-5660. I was told the reps were all busy and he'd take a call back number. I allowed that.
I was requesting "named nonopwners policy" according to Derrick whe he called back.
He was personable and chatty, helpful and kind.
Many other local insurance companies I'd called said they didn't issue these for OR.
Derrick, representing GEICO said he could. In our chatting and questions from him he asked for my SS#, which I normally would not give, but did in this situation.
He wanted to do a credit check and I told him I did not want a check on my card because it would affect my rate. He said he'd make a soft hit which wouldn't have any affect. I was still not alerted in the moment to the possibiliy of a scam, although he didn't follow through with that and ask for the card #.
He gave me a high quote and I said no...we ended off as he couldn't make the quote lower. But I guess he got partly what he wanted...my SS#.
Nice to feel vulnerable doing normal State required business at age 63, lone female and vulnerable. Too sad, too bad.

Unfair business practises
I have purchased a 2006 BMW in the end of February 2008, and since I had another (much older) vehicle insured with Geico, I just added the new BMW and specifically asked that it had to be fully insured, meaning to have Geico include everything: collision, rental, driver, passenger, etc.

Agent confirmed my request and I paid in full for whatever extra he calculated. Mid-March 08 I was driving around 2am on the freeway and did not notice quite in time a piece of tire that had fallen down from a semi. Got some damage on the bumper.

Called Geico just to hear that I did not have a collision coverage after all and they will not be paying anything since they found that it was my fault. I was repeatedly insulted by Geico service representative and a supervisor who said that it's my responsibility to check what I am buying and they are not responsible for selling me a wrong kind of insurance. So Geico simply refused the claim completely, backed out.

However, I still asked for an upgrade to finally get what I requested for in the first place; paid extra $400. Last week I placed the car for repairs in the BMW dealership and got a rental car from them. The dealership covers 2 day rental; it's going to take about 5 days to fix the car.

I called Geico for rental reimbursement, which is clearly stated as one of the coverages on my policy. The response was a refusal, combined with pushing me around, horrific customer service and already typical backing out of the contract.

Geico practices selling false policies that don't cover and getting money for it, so that when an accident happens, they are clearly not responsible for the claim. It is very convenient- it's always a customer's fault that he/she relied on the Geico agent to provide with truthful information.

GEICO policies and procedures!
I requested a quote from GEICO regarding insuring my son under my automotive policy. After providing GEICO with information to ascertain a quote, I was charged an additional $131.00 to insure my son under my existing policy. However, I only requested a quote. I contacted GEICO via email and by phone and was informed that in order to remove my son from my policy, it would be necessary to provide written documentation of existing insurance coverage for my son. I do not believe it is GEICO's right to enforce such a policy, when I clearly requested a quote. Additionally, it is none of GEICO's business as to what insurance company my son is insured under, unless I officially entered into a contractual agreement with GEICO to ensure my son, none of which I have consented to in writing or otherwise.
I contacted a lawyer and was informed that in the state of Virginia, it is the law that all drivers with a valid license living at the same residence must be insured, however, there is no such law in Maryland, where I reside. I informed GEICO of that law, and was told that it is GEICO's 'POLICY' that all licensed drivers within the home must be insured. Again, I explained that I wanted a quote and that my son did not reside with me, and again I was asked to provide proof. After speaking with Judy Williams, in GEICO's CEO office I was told that none of the GEICO customer service representatives whom I spoke with informed me that I could sign a waiver, which would exclude my son from driving my car. Judy Williams sent the waiver to me via traditional mail, I signed the waiver and faxed it back to GEICO. GEICO removed most of the charges associated with insuring my son, however, GEICO is charging me for the time that my son was insured under my policy prior to signing the waiver. I did not agree to have my son added to my automobile policy, I simply requested a quote. Lastly, because of past business dealing I maintain all written records and documentation from GEICO, which outlines the aforementioned. I would like to start a class action lawsuit in hopes of stopping GEICO from imposing such a policy. Additionally, I would like GEICO to payback any consumer that requested a quote and was subsequently charged for services that they did not receive. GEICO cannot continue to rob consumers based on technicality, which was imposed by GEICO.

Claim rip off
We were on our way home when a Geico Insured driver went to sleep and rear ended our car. My wife was hurt and lost her job. I lost over $5,000.00 in lost wages. It took 2 years of fighting to get Geico to settle, $960.00 to me and $17,000.00 to my wife. This is before expenses and attorneys. I have to settle now. I am dying from Cancer. Geico threatened to keep postponing the case until after I die. Geico paid to have a specialist fly from Atlanta GA. to Memphis TN. to argue the reduction of $9,000.00 on the claim. It cost Geico $15,239.98 to cheat my wife out of $11,000.00 total.

The stupid thing is that we were covered by Geico also. It took them 9 months to find out who covered the driver that hit us. They were going to pay an uninsured motorist claim on their client. They told us that they exhausted every resource to find out who the other driver was insured by. (It was them). Our Attorney had to find out for them.

They keep sending me mailers and emails to come back to Geico. Why? So I can be screwed again?
