TERRIBLE customer service
For 11 months, I have had a non-working, very expensive, trash compactor. I called the appliance store where I bought it several months ago and GE told them that the part (the actual motor that was DOA) is on "national back order." I finally called GE myself and after being transferred all over the place and sitting on hold for many minutes was told that they could not help me and that I needed to call a "local sales rep." When I insisted that I talk to some one who COULD help me, I was told that no such person existed. I kept my cool and even told the woman that I was not making it personal, but that I needed to either return the bad product or get it replaced if they could not tell me WHEN it could be fixed. Then, she finally told me that she could extend the warranty for 6 months. So I said that if they could send the part within the next month or so, I wanted the warranty extended to a full year from the time I FINALLY had a working compactor (I think that's fair). She said no and also refused to give me her name OR transfer me to her supervisor, and also refused to follow up with anything in writing even for the so-called 6-month warranty extension. When the appliance store called after my call, they were told that the part is NOW in. I also never received any confirmation that I would get the warranty extension added to my current warranty. Of course, it's two weeks later and still no part and no written confirmation on getting the warranty. When I called today, it was as though neither of us had ever called.
