I have a 10 year old GE smooth top range with a convection oven. We paid about $1400 for the stove when it was new. Not a cheep stove, we wanted the best.
We had some errors with the oven and called service & they came out and looked at the stove. The service man said the control panel kit and the electronic range control kit needs to be replaced. The control panel kit is no longer available. He said I needed to call GE.
I called and they told me that if I got the unavailable kit aftermarket myself that they would have the service man come back and install it. They also said that they would email my wife with information as to where I could get that kit.
Basically I feel that GE customer support blew me off. We have not heard from anyone as far as any information to where the part may be acquired from. I have searched many sites on the internet and it is not available.
I also about a week after the incident got a call from a survey group about this. I expressed my dissatisfaction and anger about the way we were treated. They told me that this would be elevated to a red status, apparently something that I should hear from someone soon.
So nothing has happened as of yet. So I feel GE has ripped me off for $80 bucks for a service call and has not given me anything for the money. They have not even gotten back to me with a source that I can get a part for my stove.
Trust me when I say as it stands right now, I will never buy anything GE, not because it stove broke, but because they pretend to care about customer service but their actions do not show that philosophy. As far as I am concerned they might as well put on their advertisements and web sites that they don't give a rats back side about if their customers can get their stuff fixed or information from them, at least my expectations would not be as high as they started out to be.
GE doesn’t really care about the people who buy their products, they just want to give the impression they do.
