Terrible quality refrigerator
We have a ge double door refrigerator/freezer that is three yeaars old. whenever the electricity goes out the melted ice drips onto the floor (this is within 5 hours). The first time it happened we were not home for four days after the outage.. What happened next was a ruined hardwood floor that has to be replaced throughout the 1000 square feet of continuous flooring. we at first thought this was a fluke until this past week when it happened again. it is an important flaw in the design of the ice box.

Adora dishwasher won't clean - poor service
Cleaned well for 2+ years and suddenly started leaving film, grease, particles, you name it. Tried everything in troublshooting to no avail. Even upgraded detergent etc. Nothing. Called on extended service plan. Service man said filter was clogged by a KERNAL. Yeah. Ok. Said it's customer's responsibility to clean that out (though it's not in the manual and if I should break something taking it all apart, it would be my responsibility, right?). He had to order a part just so the visit would be covered under my contract (nice of him). Of course, the problem persisted and I am now on the phone with them again. They reiterated the troubleshooting and asked me to "try again" and call back if it didn't work instead of scheduling a visit. I asked to speak to the supervisor who apparently instructed the service rep with all this and I've been waiting for 30 minutes now!!! HORRIBLE. Looking this appliance up online, it seems I've been completely had by G.E. and it's "lemon".

Customer NO service
After calling customer service or should I say CUSTOMER NO SERVICE and telling them I had a problem with a new GE Telephone that I had brought about 4 months ago, I told the person that I talked to, what I did to try to fix the problem as listed in the troubleshooting guide but this person did not have a clue and did not know any thing, why have a person in customer just sit there and answer the phone and not know anything, I can now see why these big companys are going under, no one cares and nobody know from nothing. After about a day I e-mail CUSTOMER NO SERVICE again told them again what I did in the troubleshooting guide, sent off the e-mail and have still not got a reply back. What a company to deal with, I guess if the CEO of this company does not care, why should the employees? Good luck if you buy a GENERAL ELECTRIC product, you will need it.

I will never buy another GE product in my lifetime
We have a GE fridge with icemaker. A small plastic part on the "ice maker assembly" broke a few months out of warranty. This 3-cent piece of plastic keeps the cubes from jamming as they eject.

While GE sells all kinds of parts for the icemaker, they do NOT sell this little plastic piece separately - to get one, they want you to purchase a whole new ice maker assembly ($142 list). They offered one at $50 + shipping/handling/insurance after I complained to the supervisor.

You know, I was extremely calm and reasonable and asked her why they couldn't provide such a simple piece - why they would screw a customer over a piece that literally costs them 3 cents to make in China, knowing that I would go out and complain to every person I know, including a personal web site that gets 1 million hits a month.

They can't just do the Right Thing here. I will NEVER buy another GE product in my lifetime, and neither will anyone I know if I can help it.

GE Washer GBVH5140HWW Failed after 2 years
Bought a GE Front Load washer two years ago. The warranty has expired and the main circuit board on the unit has failed. The service technician says it will cost $493.00 to replace it. I opted to pay him $84.00 for the service call and decided to replace the entire unit with something other than GE. I highly suggest avoiding GE and GE Profile appliances, they are not reliable.

Terrible company
GE installed a new refrig/freezer last summer. It has a freezer drawer in the bottom with an ice maker. The ice maker continues making ice even when the ice drawer is full. When you Pull out the ice drawer, to get some ice, the cubes piled up at the back are knocked off onto the freezer floor. When cubes are on that floor the freezer drawer will not close. It is necessary to get down on the floor, reach way back into the base of the freezer and sweep out the cubes for disposal - then you face the job of trying to get up off the floor - not easy for an 85 year old. This process has to be done 2 or 3 times per week. After my first call to GE customer service they sent a technician who determined that the ice maker needed to be replaced - which he did - accomplished nothing. I next emailed to customer service - this evoked a phone call telling me that the solution to the problem is to turn off the ice maker when the drawer is full and turn it back on when I need more ice - this necessitates removing frozen food from the shelf in front of the ice maker, removing the shelf, turning off the ice maker, install the shelf and replace the food - a rather stupid solution to the problem. I next wrote to the president of GE with a complete description and he had an associate call me and told me to turn off the ice maker.

On 1/3/2009 I opened the freezer to get some ice. When I closed the freezer drawer some ice cubes had been dragged onto the floor in front of the refrigerator (without my knowledge). A couple hours later I went to the refrigerator to get an apple and slipped on one of the ice cubes that was on the floor – the only reason I didn’t have a bad fall, and injury, is because I had a good grip on the handle of the refrigerator. Someone else will not be so lucky – there’s almost sure to be a serious injury from this problem. When such an injury occurs I hope the injured person sues GE for millions of dollars – and I hope I hear about it because I have a complete file of everything I have done to try to get GE to remedy this problem and I will be happy to give that data to the injured party.

GE has been making ice makers for decades - this model is obviously a defective design - GE WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM.

Bad product
We have a new GE built-in refrigerator. It's barely more than a year old. Last week, rather suddenly, the refrigerator started getting warmer, while the freezer compartment got colder. The refrigerator ended up hovering around 52 degrees, while the freezer is around -30 (our ice has ice on it, if you get the idea...) We called GE customer service and, first, were disappointed to find they work 9-5 Mon-Friday. Secondly, the best they can do is give you a half-day window when a repair person might show up. Because of work schedules, it took us days to get something on the calendar. When the tech guy finally showed up, he spent an hour fiddling around, eventually replacing a "temeperature sensor" and telling me it should normalize within 12-24 hours. It didn't. Nothing changed at all, except for the refrigerator getting a few degrees warmer.

What makes this more frustrating was the subsequent calls back to GE customer service. The rep seemed pretty nonchalant about the $150 in food that was spoiled and all of the inconvenience this has caused, and had an attitude like it's our problem we'd need to re-arrange work again for another appointment. She did finally say she'd try to get an "emergency rep" out on Friday. My wife explicitly instructed them to call her cell. No one ever called.

When you spend $5K on a refrigerator, and purchase the extra warranty, you expect more. First, you expect the product to work, not break down after a year. Second, you expect GE to treat you like a customer who has spent $5, 000 on a product. That includes working weekends if necessary so a family can store its fresh food. And on that point, they should be writing us a check for our groceries.

Miserable experience. Don't buy GE. They deserve--and no doubt eventually will--go the way of the America car company.

No more
I have had GE products for years and years. NO MORE!!! I had a service man "fix" my dishwasher by being at my home for less than 15 minutes. (He sat in his truck for the first 4) opened the air gap (not even with a tool) took out some food, screwed the cap back on and charged over $225. It was not his fault, he was just doing what the company wanted. Greedy companies that overcharge and say in all their advertisements and even when you are on hold for hours, that you the customer are important and they care!!!

AMERICAN CEO's be your own customer, get off your executive planes, get out of your fancy offices and be your own customer. You won't like it. So when GE has their downfall in this awful economy don't go wondering why. The customer means nothing to them it is all about $ and how much they can get from us.

Please be aware that if he spent some time and actually worked hard, I would have no problem paying this. But a twist and a retwist is not acceptable.

I will find other companies that make kitchen appliances.

Awful company
My husband carefully shopped for a new cordless phone. He decided to go with a G.E. phone thinking that it would be a superior product. Afterall, a telephone is your lifeline to the outside world. You pick up the phone to call 911 in an emergency, I have shown my 5 year old to do so, I use my phone to conduct business (well at least I used to when we had a phone that worked). We used to have a Motorolla phone that was awesome and now we have a G.E phone that doesn't work more than it does. I have never known a worse quality product than this one. I remember when G.E. was a symbol of quality...what happened?

terrible equipment
I paid over three thousand dollars for the top of the line POS General Electric oven and microwave and Refrigerator. Within two years nothing but problems. the Doors on the reefer were recalled but I was never notified even though I had registered on line. When they came to fix the reefer they offered me a fifty dollar cert on a new machine. When i asked about product defect the ge guy finally admitted they had been recalled. They wanted to charge me for installation which i refused. Since then the ice maker system has failed the cost of repair is 1/3 of the cost of the machine.
as to the stove, i had over six service calls and they finally told me to buy a new one. the microwave sensor died and the cost of replacement was again 1/3 of the cost of the machine plus the service call.
so DON'T BUY GE THEY SUCK.
And we wonder why American products are not taken seriously.
