Genting Highlands - Resort Hotel Reviews

Terence T.L. Lim September 26, 2009
Car Wiper Theft @ Resorts Hotel, Genting Highlands
Dear One and All,

I was a hotel guest with my family at Genting Highlands, Resort Hotel (Malaysia) on 15th & 16th September 2009, during the off-peak low season. We are not seasoned visitors (gamblers) to Genting Highlands.

We parked our car at Resorts Hotel indoor carpark for two nights - Level B3 (15th & 16th September). When we checked out, we drove back to Singapore, without checking our vehicle. Along the North South Highway driving back to Singapore, when it started raining, we noticed that our car windscreen wipers were stolen when we trying to clear the windscreen from the rain !!!. Because of the highway speed at 110km/h, we almost met a road accident, thankfully we stopped at the side of the road to wait till the rain stopped. Throughout the journey, we made a several road stops due to the rainy season. We did manage to purchase spare wipers from petrol station but no one knew how to fix the wiper, and eventually we went without a wiper. It was a frustrating and a rather scary experience for us, because if so happen (bad-luck) driving downhill from Genting Highlands, if it so starts happen to rain, we might meet road accident by driving off the mountain hill cliff.

No doubt, our car wipers were stolen from Resorts hotel carpark !!!. Because we are a Singapore-registered car, we are at higher risk for vehicle theft. Please convey this every Singaporean who are making road-trips to Genting highlands. Please check your car properly in Genting before departing off to Singapore!

This email is NOT a complaint to Genting for lousy service. (Petty Crimes are unavoidable!)

This email is to serve awareness to fellow Singaporeans who are driving into Genting Highlands to be extra cautious and be aware of their personal possessions (especially to Singapore-registered cars who are likely to be victims of vehicle theft and robbery in Malaysia). Check your car tires and wipers to ensure that they are intact before driving off at Genting carparks.

I had drafted up a psych profile of the WIPER THIEF:
* He is likely to be a Malaysian Chinese
* He frequents Genting Highlands during low-peak season
* Occupation - possibly a Malaysian taxi driver (making frequent road trips to Genting), or someone who make frequent road trips requiring the constant use wiper due to Genting road weather conditions (foggy, wet, rainy)
* High probability is a frequent gambler at Genting Highlands and a seasoned loser.
* Hates Singaporeans - because they are higher stake gamblers at Genting Highlands casino.
* Attribute blame to Singaporeans for his frequent losses at the casino.
* Possibly ever worked in Singapore, but due to recent recession, was retrenched by Singaporean employers and had to gamble at Genting Highlands.
* Steals the wiper to replace his existing car's wiper that was worn out due to the constant usage of foggy, wet and raining conditions at Genting Highlands.
* High probability that he conducted the crime alone, or either with a male accomplice.
* Has a deeper technical knowledge on fixing cars as compared to ordinary people (note: not everyone knows how to manually install and remove car wipers)

Thank you for your kind attention.
