Aside from the lack of respect received from the sales manager Dave Taylor at the Infiniti location, be wary of George Harte Auto Group's business practices in general. I did meet some nice and competent sales folks there, but I would still be cautious. I would be cautious because of the following:
A Nissan sales rep there told me while laughing that they sold tons of cars at as much as $2, 000 over MSRP during cash for clunkers. While this is legal, it gives you an idea of how they take advantage of people. Every business has a right to profit, but I certainly wouldn't brag about that, and I feel bad for people without the skill to negotiate because they really get taken advantage of.
More importantly, one practice that another dealer said they do when I showed him my offer is as follows, and I confirmed they did what he said they would. I negotiated an offer for a lease which I left with that no one could even match. I personally still thought it was high but no dealer knew how George Hart Nissan could offer this deal, as apparently it was an unprofitable deal with a loss of about $500 to them. They all told me to do it with George Harte because it was a great deal, if it was in fact true. When no one can even match it, you go back to Harte and then they tell you that it was a mistake. Since you are there again after visiting other dealers they will make a new offer to you no different than anyone else will, but by then you just want to get the deal done and you have a higher probability of buying from them the second time around and they get the business. Sure enough, when I called back wanting to come in and do the deal, they told me it was a mistake and couldn't be honored. They said If I had tried to do it the day given to me, they would have noticed it when they re-ran the numbers. This doesn't sound like an honest mistake if other dealers told me to expect it after looking at my George Harte sheet.
I did not do business with George Harte Nissan/Infiniti or any other affiliated dealership, nor would I recommend anyone to. The treatment from Dave Taylor at Infiniti was simply unbelievable and way beyond an aggressive salesman. No class or tact whatsoever, a truly arrogant and obnoxious man with no business dealing with people. Everyone I tell this story to says that George Harte has a bad reputation. I am sure people had good experiences there, but I certainly did not.
