$25,000.00 Approved Grant Monies
Was sent notice from G.F. Institute, Kansas City Kansas. The notice itself had a seal of Kansas City in upper left corner and to the upper right a stamp Presorted, Standard, US Postage, Paid, Carol Stream, IL, Permit 1514. Under the stamp on the left hand side was a block said Official Information Re: $25, 000.00 Grant from U.S. Government in red, red APPROVED stamp just to right of stamp, centered underneath was prepared for ..., Release Code: 4280 2675217, my name Sharon Carpenter, address, Las Vegas, NV, and a barcode under that. Lower right hand corner on right in small print was T121 031859, left corner front Action required ASAP for Release in red, Open / Read. (Period was included after Read). On the back was a lighter of the same seal with G. F. Institute, Est. 2007, Kansas City Kansas. Under that was a centered block with two arrows pointing to the middle that said IMPORTANT DETAILS INSIDE., Read and Respond Within, 36 Hours, To Access Funding.(Again with the period) It just didn't look right and when I googled it today, 7/28/09, I found out how many people had been victims of this scam. Unfortunatley, I threw the informations inside away after I called the 866 number. The information itself just left your imagination to what you could do with that $25 thousand and gave you the number to call. I did call the number to listen to a pre-recorded message that went into what you could do with the $25 grand and that it would be a 59.99 fee, that if you didn't get at least the $25 grand, that your money would be refunded to wait for an operator. I hung up feel like an idiot for calling in the first place. I am just sending what I have of this so that people are aware and not by any means send them any money. I hope this helps your organization to find them and save people from this type of fraud.

Scam - Ripped me off $150
I received a letter notifying me of a pending grant approval in the amount of $25, 000. It told me I had 36 hours to call and collect my funds. When I called even though the letter states I pay no money for my grant when I receive it I had to pay $150 processing fee. The letter said it was verified and authenticated by JD and that is all it said for a name. I am out of that money now and left with (no surprise) no grant money for a business I wish to start. This is ridiculous!! Is there a legit grant company out there that doesn't hoax you - one that is straight forward and easy as well as helpful??

US MAIL - recorded message
I received a letter via US Mail today for a government grant of $25K that has been approved for release to me. When I called the number listed, it was a recorded message wanting me to buy a kit that will show me how to access government grants. The letter is very deceiving and represents bad business practices.
THIS IS A SCAM... DON'T PAY FOR ANYTHING WHEN SOMETHING IS SUPPOSE TO BE FREE!
